  • You have a wonderful voice. Thank you for posting this. I grew up listening to the Clancy Brothers' version of this song and I found another version in a book but couldn't find any videos on here with the version from the book. Thank you. :)

  • @Esther5650 Thank you Esther, you are welcome.

  • You have a wonderful voice. Thank you for posting this. :)

  • Some sweet picking and singing! Keep up the good work. You seem to be a lovely gentleman.

  • @kk123467890 Thank you for your lovely message. I am only too pleased to do so.

  • Great playing, great singing. Yet the best part of this video is your smiling when you're playing the short instrumental part about 2:52. A proof of your love for music. :)

Greetings from Germany to all who love Ireland

  • @Detanova That was when I made a bit of a hash of the instrumental!! :-))

  • Grand job Sir, and a fine man ye are! I'm sure you have a few drops of Irish blood in your veins somewhere!

  • @sherp2u1 Thank you for your kind comment. If I do have any Irish blood in my veins, I am not aware of it, but would be happy if that were so.

  • Sir, you're a good Irishman...

  • @GSeward I am at heart, but in reality I am a Manxman

  • Nice remindes me of my Dad .................. I use to sing this song to him years ago the words have changed slightly and the tune is played slower than the orginal version of this song ................ My Dad was rom Galway .................... I hope he watches theSun set every evening now above his beloved Galway Bay x Good Night God Bless DAD xx

  • @jfkennedy3 Thanks for the comment Julie. I am always pleased to bring back fond memories especially of loved ones.

  • Thank you. I really love this version and I can't find it on CD. Most irritating! 'scowls'.

  • It was new to me when I recorded it. It is now one of my favourites. In fact I just finished off a gig with it tonight.

  • My partner is standing here in her pyjamas as I'm watching this. She says you sound lovely. :o)

  • Please thank her for me. :-))

  • i am from galway how do u know this song ?please please write back

  • I did not know it until I received a request to sing it from meredumais, Jen from Illinois who wanted it for herself and her husband. I looked it up on the internet and on youtube and found the lyrics and tune then put chords to it and there you have it.

  • very,very pleasant,easy rendition . . .

  • Thank you for your kind comment

  • Sitting by the wood stove on a cold cold Alaska winter night, I just finished reading a book by the same title: Galway Bay by Mary Pat Kelly. The book had the words to this song at the end and I wanted to hear how the tune went. It is a beautiful song and I so enjoyed hearing you sing it. It added a lot to my experience of reading the book. Thank you for sharing it and putting up the lyrics as well. Wonderful!

  • I am pleased that you enjoyed it and that it enhanced your reading experience.

    Tony

  • I love it. Heard a version from a gal named Rose on here, and the melody she used was little different, but good nevertheless. Lovely song!

  • Thank you for your kind comment. I never claim to sing the tune of a song absolutely accurately, so if it sounded close to Rose's, then hers if probably the correct one.

  • Very good Sir, I am serving in Afghanistan at the moment and found this. Nice to be able to chill after hard long days work! Keep up the good work!!!

  • Thank you so much for your kind comment. I am always happy when I hear from someone who has enjoyed my work, but am especially so in this case. You are doing a great job under very difficult circumstances. Take care of yourself and your comrades. My best wishes to you all.

  • That just feels so good. My little one Alexis is sleeping now after listening to it three times.

    Big day, sleeping nicely now.

    Thank you!

  • You are very welcome. I have always had the knack of being able to get babies to go to sleep. If you have this trouble again, should this song not work, try the Garton Mother's Lullaby.

  • That is excellent! Very well done. Thank you.

  • Thank you for your kind comment

  • I sat and prayed by Galway Bay in 2002. The Irish diaspora in Australia know the other song so well . Thank you so much for this one.

  • Thank you, but you should also thank meredumais for requesting it and introducing it to me in the first place.

    :-))

  • Nice work!

  • Thank you for your kind comment

  • Well done buddy.

  • Great stuff as usual

  • Great version!! I kind of like this one better but they are both good!! Excellent Job Tony 5*

  • Archie and I love you, Archie !!! We're crazy about you. Will you come live with us so we can be surrounded by that gorgeous voice and soul every day. Please consider-the kids are in college now, and you can have the 'cool' bedroom with the huge bay window that my son just left behind...

See? We were destined to meet. What lovely coincidences. We're MAD about this beautiful version. Keep singing, Archie-the world needs more people like you !

Big hugs and cheers from J and A in PA,

    Jen XXX
