@richardaburt Depending the video card you may need a better power supply. But This system would be the minimum if you want to play latest games. Since the chipset isn't the best and most of all the bios that is locked. But with a good video card the power supply to power it and if you can the best CPU you can get (Quad core would be great) and add the more ram you can you should be able to play the latest games without much problems.
how did u get the xclamp for the stock cpu cooler off?? mine seems to be glued to the motherboard and the cpu cooler i want to use isn't compatible with the it and it need to be removed.
@MLGProXBuddy175X I didn't have to remove it cause i managed to fit it with screws. I was a bit lucky on this :P But don't try to remove it by pulling hard cause you will break the mobo. If you succesfully remove it tell people how you did this cause somebody broke the motherboard this way. So if you are successfull just leave a comment on how you did it.
@wolvid ya thts wat i am going to try. I just have to go out and buy 1" machine screws and it should work. It would have been easier if I could have used the clamp but there is no way to take off the other one. It's glued on tight.
hei i heave 1 q for u the matherbord is m2 haw u manage to mathe the cpu m3 to worh or is the same slots dell inspiron 531= matherbord 0RY206 ? plz thell me i wtb a amx phantom x2 BE a 500w psu and a shapire 5750 vapor x THX
@maddog1522006 i changed my core 2 quad for a core 2 duo because i was able to get faster speed with my pinmodded core 2 duo and my radeon HD 4850 but now i'm on a new PC i should make a vid about it but i don't have a lot of time :S
i had a core 2 quad but i changed it for a core 2 duo E7400 pin modded to 3.5 ghz and now i'm on my new build with the same CPU but better hardware i'm working on a video of it i'l post a link as soon as i finish it!
as you can see on the vid at 0:16 i'm showing it i was able to fit 1 80mm fan there but it wasn't an easy task but you can do it if you have a bit of patience.
hi i have the same I530 which has a 2.33ghz e6550, and recently installed MSI gtx 260 core 216 *yes it fits and runs ok temp wise,,, 41 idle 57 max loadl*:) i was wondering if the GPU temps will go down if i install an intake fan? and what else would i need besides an 80mm in take fan and screws to do so?
yes with an intake fan all the temperatures will go down and all you need is the fan the screws and lot of patience since this case isn't made to get an intake fan so you need to fit one by yourself
i just put in a 92mm Antec tricool fan in the front like you did... but i dont seem to be getting temp differences idle cpu e6550 w/ Zalman9700 at 38 idle and GPU at 39 idle (ambient temp 22C or 70F).. would swapping out the dell stock exhaust fan lower temps and improve airflow?
Yes swapping the stock fan for a high performance one gets better airflow and with my TT beetle i get 30 idle and between 40 to 45 with superpi the room temp is 23 to 25C and my new video card 4850 vapor-x had 43C while gaming but now i have a better system than that i'm working on a video of it! :D so stay tuned and thanks for the comments!!!
you will need to change it but i dunno if it's clipped there or if you need to cut it. but the I/O panel comes with the ney motherboard so the only problem would be to remove the DELL one.
I'm Glad i could help if you need anything else just ask i'l soon put another video of my new computer i just bought new stuff to get another computer and it will be awesome! :D
I can't really tell you but if the height of the cooler isn't too high you should be ok cause i tried to install a Cooler master V8 but it was too high so i was unable to close my case but the beetle fit and it's still a big cooler if you can send me a link of the cooler you are talking about and i'l see if it can fit inside.
Hey man..im thinking of buying this CPU just wanted to know what you think of it..is it hard to install and do those lights I see in the fan stock or did you put them on..also if they are stock do they atomaticly change colour?
My mobo is the standard Foxconn G33 that comes with my PC but now i changed my video card and CPU now i have a core 2 duo 2.8ghz and a sapphire radeon HD 4850 vapor-x edition and i'l get a sapphire radeon HD 4870 soon! :D i'l post a video as soon i get it!
Hey wolvid, do u have any solutions to the locked I/O panel in the back? I have the dell vostro 400 case, (same as yours but black) and want to get somthing other than the defualt mainboard... i bought the empty case on ebay and wnat to build into it...
so coooooooooooool, hey i want to put 9800 gt to my 530, and im thinking on getting new psu to replaced my 350 dell psu, but i confused because i heard that it s hard to find a psu that fit in the dell case, i knew one the crosair one, but it is expensive, im thinking on getting the 500w one, do u have any idea which psu brand should i buy
hey man i hav a 530 to, did ur come with a core 2 duo, cuz im thinkin of upgrading to a core 2 quad, any advice with this pc, will i hav todo a reinstall?
I had a core 2 duo E6550 2.33Ghz but i changed it for a core 2 quad Q6600 that i Overclocked with the BSEL mod to get it at 3Ghz but wich one you wanted to get?
yes both will work on your inspiron! And yep i made that on my foxconn G33M mobo. About vista i'm not sure cause i formated mine to get a clean install to be sure to get the best out of my PC but i'm pretty sure that will be ok if you keep your vista like this since all major changes are made in bios. What do you want to do with your PC? Gaming?
I primarily want to do video editing, and maybe some gaming. i only hav an ati radeon 3650, which isnt the best for gaming but it works for now, and did u hav to adjust any voltages or anything, cuz i dont think you can in the dell bios.
no you can't in the bios but i didn't have to do this but if you have a core 2 and want to put a quad core you will need to change your power supply since the quad need more power than the core 2. Maybe you will need to do a bios update to fully support the quad.
dude i put a quad in there, and in the process, well my old retention plate was glued on there, and while trying to take it off, i put a fucking nick right through a trace, now i have to get a new mobo, and for now i hav my laptop hooked up to all my stuff, but ow well, u live and learn
thats sucks man, I have a dell 530 with a e4500 i want to upgrade to a e8500 but truthfully im worried about the install. Ive never upgraded a cpu in a dell before, do you have any tips for my cpu swap on the dell 530. Ive built plenty of rigs before, this is my first dell.
For the inspiron 530 you can upgrade your CPU without any problems but you must be sure that is compatible with your mobo but the E8500 is compatible with it the only thing is that i recommand to update your bios with the latest of dell and if possible don't remove the retention plate cause it's true that it's glued and it's really hard to remove
yeah i already updated my bios, and my mobo came with a duo core so i know it can handle a faster one, plus i also upgraded the psu to antec neo 480. did you remove the mobo for the case when swapping cpus? i heard the heatsink is a bitch to take out and put on, i dont want to break it, lol
no my stock heatsink wasn't hard to remove and put back but since you will get a bettes CPU you will need a beter heatsink and this could be a bit harder to install. my thermaltake beetle was a pain to put it there but i was able to manage getting it there
I'm really sorry about that. :'( How did you try to remove the plate? Me i didn't have to remove it i installed my thermaltake beetle with this plate without any problems
How exactly did you add the fan in the front?

How did you mount an intake fan? I think I was going to do that. Did you need to mod it in anyway to put in an intake fan?

@EWColaCanada No i only had to put the fan a bit sideway to be able to fix it in the square holes that are already there!

i installed it on the metal frame inside the case where there's lot of holes so no need to cut anywhere.
