Great idea except the elites have other ideas for Iraq and Iranian wealth than giving it to the people; mainly because the same 'elites' run both countries.

The very existence of people equally and all government services especially local, county and state services and most federal services increase land values somewhere. In other words government services benefit land owners directly by raising the value of their land. If landowners do not pay fully for the services that make their land more valuable some non-land owner must pay. Taxes on the value of oil created by all of us is truly just form of taxation and appropriate source of revenue.
