Man I hate that bridge on the newer ibanez's. So chunky and the screws always come loose. I swapped my 7 for an older one with the old bridge. Much better, What are your opinions on the bridge mate?
@sik7h Pretty nice actually, I know it's quite chunky, but that' alright with me. As for the screws coming loose? Well, I've had it for over a year an a half now, and no issues if I'm honest.
@xDefinitionsx Yes, you have to totally adapt to the neck feel. Sweeping on it so far has been a bitch, and playing it general is harder for me because I have a strange double jointed thumb which makes it tougher to play.
@xxstaggerxx You're very right, the only thing I would change is the inability to have tremolo. Not that I would want a floyd rose though; I think the Music Man custom one is very nice. :)
@Toygut84 Hahahaha. :D. 7 days huh? Don't be too impatient. If you have another £/$ 200 floating about, I would get some different pickups, the ones in this are atrocious.
@Death88Wish An online shop called Dolphinmusic. I don't know if they ship to the US, it was £340 when I got it, but I think the prices have gone up since then.
ive never held a 7 string before in my life until the other day. it was an RGA7. when i pick it up and played with it, it felt natural after like 5 minutes and i loved it. once i buy my first 7 i dont think i'll ever buy another 6 unless its fucking awesome. and then buy an 8 string. also, most likely, perhaps the RGA8 haha
@gnryeah well for some, it doesnt really make a difference for me at this point, ive been playing 7 string almost exclusively for just over a year now, so im quite used to it. but i do agree i wish i could afford to buy a couple jp6's for 6 string songs, but i do fine playing them on the jp7
you kno i played one of these at guitar center (fell in love with it of course) and idk if its just me, but i found it very easy to transition from 6 to 7 strings in the 5 mins or less i was there. maybe im just a natural with 7 strings.
@xGUITARZEROx Perhaps, too a little getting used to me, I was using a Gibson Les Paul mostly before hand, so this was kinda different for me. It's a good guitar, shame it doesn't have any kind of floating bridge. Having said that, I don't fancy pissing about with a floyd rose...
@gnryeah same here. after trying to restring my friend's (now a simple acquaintance) GRGA32T, white, i said "bro, u gotta take this to a shop cause i cant do this." then again, he kept telling me different tunings every few hours. pissed me off.
@chessinfantry Ahh, you're American? What a fucking surprise, you bigoted piece of shit. You know what, I really don't care what people like you think.
I JUST bought this guitar, LITERALLY about 30 minutes ago! It's going to be at my dad's place probably on Wednesday. I couldn't help but notice in a comment that you said something about the guitar's clean tone being a bit muddy. Can you explain that to me? I'm knee deep into Metal, but it doesn't hurt having a nice clean tone. Also, would thicker strings have anything to do with my clean tone's sound? Or is that more of an amp thing? I like R&B and Funk so I play that as well.
@NevyNevJr Well, as long as your amp has a good clean tone, the guitar should respond well. But you might want it in position 2 or 4 on the pickup selector, it cuts out alot of the "muddiness". Thicker strings? Hmm, they tend to give a slightly more bassy edge. Personally, I use 0.09s on it, but thats just me, I'm a Dream Theater nut, so I like to be able to play the technical stuff, which is easier on 0.09s... But you should experiment with guage, see hot it goes.
Damn yeah Dream Theater! Does it sound good for this type of music? I'd like my 7-string to have a good clean sound as well, I'm also kind of a jazz fan
@GasparXR It has a very muddy tone. It totally depends on what you want out of it. It works well with metal, but it's adviseable to replace the pickups. Either with EMGs if you want it for really heavy stuff, or DiMarzio's for more of that Progressive tone. As for Jazz? Hmmm, well I don't play Jazz, don't really know how; so I can't give you an answer there. But I will say that it is a good guitar overall, though if you can afford a better guitar, I would recommend getting 'that'.
@gnryeah Oh yeah and how's the neck on that thing as far as width goes? I almost got the ESP LTD B-7 from the Stephen Carpenter series but the damn thing was out of stock, plus the neck is kinda massive anyway. The neck here looks kinda slimmer.
@gnryeah Alright. Thanks dude. Reason I asked is because I'm actually going to be receiving this guitar within this week. Probably before Saturday. Are you still satisfied with this guitar since this video was posted up a bit of a year ago?
@BlueLeppard It's the guitar I play the most, even if I don't use all 7 strings, it's just convenient, plus is easier to play than my Gibson Les Paul. Though next up, I'm getting the Music Man JP50, which is totally sick.
@DeathcoreGuitarist94 It's okay. Though judging by your username, it will suit you more than it did me; I want a MusicMan JP7 to be honest... but that's because I'm a Dream Theater whore.
@CaseyViolette92 Hmmm, these go for about that much. 7 strings are hard to get used to i'm afraid, might be something to consider. This doesn't have a floyd rose, and the stock pickups are shockingly poor.
@gnryeah i know, but i alway splay 7 string stuff haha :P im always tuned to A or B standard, ahah, but 7s will do it for me, plus ill replace the pick ups anyway, all the Ibanez guitars cum with the same pick ups sadly :/
@gnryeah im trying, i dont have a job, there are none sadl yin this town, fuck, i can sell my jackson at my guitar shop for 300, but ill need 100 bucks hahah
@CaseyViolette92 lol im swaping my jackson king V for an ibanez rg 7321 nd the guy im swapping with recons its a fair trade(i think i am getting the better deal) i only paid £165 for the jackson off of a mate
Lmao, as soon as you said progressive metal you made my head raise and then you said Dream Theater. The funny thing is that I'm looking at these Ibanez 7 strings to buy very soon for the same reason. I really want to play the Shattered Fortress, The Glass Prison etc. But Ive been looknig for ages and Im still stuck between this one, and the RGA7. Would you say this one is better seeing as the RGA7 is about £150 more? I prefer the look of this one and Im going to change the pickups to EMGs anyway
@TheRandomGenerator Maybe get the more expensive one if you have the cash. Does it have a floyd rose? If it's solid state bridge, then i'm not sure what the difference is, and if there's any point. But my only advice i'm sure of, is don't get EMGs, unless you're aiming for heavier than D.T. I would recommend DiMarzios, which are more expensive, but give off better tone. It really depends on what you want mate. If you want to talk more about this, PM me, and I can give more of my opion.
@podtesoff Yeah, it's alright, I don't think I'd want to be anywhere else to be honest, we have a mild climate, fair economy, good legal system. etc.
I wouldn't mind visiting Russia one day, but it's fooooking freezing alot of the time, so I don't think I'll risk it. -40.c isn't something I fancy, haha. :p
I was right about you because you called me "f...cking idiot".
Look at other guitar videos and you'll understand what do I mean.
I have some home video too. But it's just a "home" video (like yours). So I think there aren't any interesting things for people (in my videos) to place it HERE.
@podtesoff Fair enough, but the whole point of this video was to show how excited I was by its arrival, it's pretty obvious that it's a video about unpacking a brand new guitar. So if you weren't interested in it, why did you carry on watching? :P
do you think i could use this for a heavy version of 7 nation army? i mean on the low b string, would i get that sound he uses a digitech whammy to get
@5Harring Think about it musically/logically. If there's a bit where you have a pitch that matches the low b string (whichever fret, I don't like the White Stripes, so I don't know the song too well.) But, if that note at that pitch is available on the low b, then yes, it can. :D
(I really hope that made sense, I'm tired, my ability to explain has gone it would seem. >_<)
@6Zach26 It did come tuned when I got it. The strings I would recommend are Ernie ball. What guage you get is entirely up to you. If you dont intend to mess with the tuning, I would get a hybrid set with the thinnest being a 0.09mm. But again, it depends on your playing style. Blues and stuff, you want a higher guage such as 0.11mm or 0.12. For fast shred stuff, I would reccomend 0.10mm or 0.09mm.
@duckracecar It can be a little wierd getting used to it, and I find shredding for solos a little more difficult, but shredding isn't the only way to play guitar. I would like to sample some other 7 string necks to make comparissons, but that isn't going to happen any time soon I am afraid.
the kneck is not bad the guitar is easy to play all around it the famous wizard kneck that ibanez designed feels really good actually i've played this guitar before i love it feels good and sounds good
Man I hate that bridge on the newer ibanez's. So chunky and the screws always come loose. I swapped my 7 for an older one with the old bridge. Much better, What are your opinions on the bridge mate?

I wouldn't mind visiting Russia one day, but it's fooooking freezing alot of the time, so I don't think I'll risk it. -40.c isn't something I fancy, haha. :p

I was right about you because you called me "f...cking idiot".
Look at other guitar videos and you'll understand what do I mean.
I have some home video too. But it's just a "home" video (like yours). So I think there aren't any interesting things for people (in my videos) to place it HERE.
Sorry for grammatics, i'm russian.
podtesoff 1 year ago
@podtesoff Fair enough, but the whole point of this video was to show how excited I was by its arrival, it's pretty obvious that it's a video about unpacking a brand new guitar. So if you weren't interested in it, why did you carry on watching? :P

you've stole 8:07 min of my life
podtesoff 1 year ago
@podtesoff Give me one of your videos and I'll waste 8:07 of mine. But you know,
1.) Time is never wasted, it's how you spend it that counts
2.) The title says "Unpacking" if that's not enough of a clue about the content of this video, then you're a fucking idiot.

do you think i could use this for a heavy version of 7 nation army? i mean on the low b string, would i get that sound he uses a digitech whammy to get
5Harring 1 year ago
@5Harring Think about it musically/logically. If there's a bit where you have a pitch that matches the low b string (whichever fret, I don't like the White Stripes, so I don't know the song too well.) But, if that note at that pitch is available on the low b, then yes, it can. :D
(I really hope that made sense, I'm tired, my ability to explain has gone it would seem. >_<)

Does the Guitar come already tuned? And what strings do you suggest?
6Zach26 1 year ago
@6Zach26 It did come tuned when I got it. The strings I would recommend are Ernie ball. What guage you get is entirely up to you. If you dont intend to mess with the tuning, I would get a hybrid set with the thinnest being a 0.09mm. But again, it depends on your playing style. Blues and stuff, you want a higher guage such as 0.11mm or 0.12. For fast shred stuff, I would reccomend 0.10mm or 0.09mm.

tell me is it harder to play on a 7 string then a 6 string???
duckracecar 1 year ago
@duckracecar It can be a little wierd getting used to it, and I find shredding for solos a little more difficult, but shredding isn't the only way to play guitar. I would like to sample some other 7 string necks to make comparissons, but that isn't going to happen any time soon I am afraid.
gnryeah 1 year ago
@duckracecar no its pretty much the same
