  • lol they just got him out through the back

  • Why are the car lights still on? The first thing you do is disconnect the battery on the car. 1 spark from the battery on some leaking fuel and everyone doing the rescue would be dead on need rescue. Must have been a volunteer fire department or a training video on what not to do.

  • It doesn't appear the jaws of life worked. That guy tussled with that door and I still don't see that it opened.

  • @Yodle2012 lol you're right.

  • Why was nobody holding C-spine on the pt in the car?

  • every accident is different, its easy to judge sitting at your computer, i've been in 7 accidents, just last week they had to use the jaws of life to cut the roof off the car to get me out, and it was completely unnecessary, but they did it anyway, and when they cut one of the corners something came down and hit me in the head...not sure what it was i had a blanket over my head, but whatever I'm just happy to have been rescued they way i was.........dont take shit for granted

  • c-spine immobilization wasn't all that great it seemed like

  • I feel like they should have a high index of suspicion for a spinal cord injury, I don't really see why they let the young man move his neck from side to side.... Administration of the oxygen was essential but it wouldn't do much good if he spinal cord became severed.

  • love how theres so many people out there to help

  • why do they always strip u dwn??????

  • Umm, he's already out of the car, and they are still trying to take the driver's door off. Did they not notice he was out?

  • Just a bunch of morons !

DAMN ! LEARN HOW TO USE IT !

  • Why did they cut one door then pull him out of the other side??

  • @8071940 probably couldn't cut through the hinges in time.

  • why didn't they disconnect the battery? otherwise great video

  • By the way the "expansor" is the tool in presentation, is diferent of the jaw, some expansors have the cut in middle and can be used as jaw. The one in presentation is use to expand little opens, if the firefighter with the jaw use the expansor he could break the "hinge" of the door, but the reality is a little bit different and, he could be trying a different strategy to open it, the victim was fine, so they wasnt running against time.

  • myjohnny1313 and haku15, agree w u two, i am a firefighter, i work with those jaws everyday, these jaws can cut a car like paper if the firefigther knows where to cut, i really dont know what the one with the jaws were trying to do with that door, we have another tool similar to the jaw called expansor, we use to open those doors.

  • if it werent for the jaws of life my good b=friend devin would have died kus he was in a teriabler car acident and their was no way out n so they had to use the jaw of life

  • More like " the jaws of hopefully youll still be alive by the time we can cut the door of life"

  • @CamaroHappy

... i'm not gonna lie... I was a little disappointed... I watched this video only because I was hoping to see the Jaws of Life in action.. I saw pictures of it and it looked like a pair of vicious tweezers... so I wanted to see just how powerful they were... =\ ... from the looks of this video... the power of that thing is poor... they took far too long with that door and they didn't even get the door off.. they had to get him out from the other side... he could have bled to death.

  • @Haku15Mitarashi I think a little training would help them. It should not have taken that long at all.

  • I'm glad I don't remember much from my car accident a couple months ago...

  • ahhh East Palo alto is one of the most dangerouos places in the bay area, of California

  • you would think moving around like ants they would get more done

  • i like the guy dragging the oxygen mask and how they arent even cutting the door properly

  • wth i coulda had that door off 5mins ago!

  • the guy with out a helmut and eye protection should not be there he needs to done full PPE to be on the safe side. and it looks like it is taking them ages to pop the door on the driver side...

  • this summer......words will fly at you very very fast.

  • im just wondering if the battery cables r cut because the headlights looked like they wer on yet

  • Holy shit, way to drag the mask all over the ground. Fucking retard firefighter

  • Two words: "Roof Off!"

  • the biggest problem i see is no cribbing.

  • @JrSAR101 thats what i was always taught that car is not stable

  • 2:27

"hey wtf is that camera man doing...?"

  • its just the jaws of life why are you guys freakin out XD a grinder could have done this too Fyi

  • @nighthok360 ya but a grinder is loud, throughs out alot of sparks, and the jaws are alot cleaner and you can make more presites cuts.

  • HAHA this was quite sloppy

From the inability of the firefighter to remove the door, the driver exiting through the passenger door, and the dragging and stepping on the oxygen mask, this was a poor performance overall. Ive never seen this from an Ontario detatchment

IF i ever get into an accident PLEASE dont send this department!!!!!

  • Pardon my ignorance, but why were they using this on the side that they didn't even end up using? Do they attack both sides when they have the means?

  • For the FD handling this call: Recommend you receive training in what's called a vertical spread, a much more safe, effective and rapid method of getting rid of a door, especially one that's been t-boned. If the jaws you use are too small, set the points in the corner on top of the door sill and under the A-post. You'll be amazed how well this works.

  • great video!

  • I do not see the nescecidad of being so methodical, nevertheless is admirable the preparation that has the rescue people, that sometimes the tool is indispensable but in this case I believe that no.

  • rescue? they never cut anything, looks like they never picked up a tool befor. they just gave up and took him out the other side, that department need vehicle rescue training. what if he would have actually been pinned with the dash on him, they never even got the doors off they never would have been able to roll the dash

  • OSHA and NFPA state you do need a 5 point tear away vest at anytime you are in a road fyi. sick video tho

  • Not sure which state your in but the vests are not required? full turnout gear with reflective trim meets the OSHA requirements, I do like the idea of the vests though! Better safe than sorry! Techniques on the tools leave a lot to be desired!

  • Timeeee timeeeee (N)

  • Jaws of life rescue two victims....was this video incorrectly marked? I could have sworn i saw the guy with the tool snipping away at the door hindge and didn't make any progress at all, i couldn't help but laugh a little when the driver just went out the passenger door after all. Glad they're ok though, thanks for the upload.

  • Obviously your not on the job or you'd realize those vests keep you from an individual 10k fine from OSHA. I like how you call them rookies, and I'm sure at 25 years of age, your a seasoned vet too.

  • @thewallisnow well, I can't say much for the rest of the video, but I've been in my emt course for 2 months and I know not to drag the non-rebreather through the dirt.

  • @thewallisnow being seasoned and commen sense arent the same these guys suck no cribbing nothing at all was done correctly........

  • This was a great video!
