For others, family has only been a label for a bunch of people who share the same genes but who have nothing in common, have not been there to support, and have even caused problems. Thus, while the definition of family is clear, the connotation leaves room for expansion. Family for me are those who love me as I love them.

So many things happen in the world at this very second and we never know what it could be until someone tell us. You are right that sometimes blood isn't enough but as someone who grew up with values on being loyal to the family no matter what I'd have to respectfully disagree with you on that. My brother may be a jerk but i could never love anyone else more then him when it comes to bonds.
