If Rustin Parr's house was burned, then whose house did Heather and Mike go into at the end of the movie? I never paid much attention to this until I re-watched this.
They supposed to have entered a realm where laws of physics like TIME does not exist or is altered by some other power; like a different dimension. Rustin Parr's house you see still standing after it has been burned decades before is proof that neither the past, the present and future exist. It's just there.

In the mockumentary that was shown on TV before the movie hit theathers. Their stuff were apparently discovered deep in an old ruin that used to be a cabin from the 18th or 19th century if I remember it right. There was no way it could've reached there unless they were living in the that era. I'm pretty sure they're dead though.

I think this whole facade, the movie and the documentary was probably one of the greatest public wide hoaxes ever created.

But they did base elements of it on bits and pieces of real legends, such as the legend of the Bell Witch of Tennessee. The film was marketed as a real story, however.

Real? Then why there was not a attempt to exculpate in memoriam the Parr , if mythology says, as the real culprit was later recognized mentally ill possessed boy...who later was perhaps responsible for the kill of the film students...

The story of the town and witch IS NOT true. That's the genius of this film. The spent ALL their given budget from Artisan Films and made ALL these fake interviews and photoshopped documents. ALL of it is COMPLETELY FAKE. But in 1998 before the movie came out, they released ALL the stuff to scare the hell out of people so they would think is all was real. I repeat...NONE (the legend, the film, the interviews) of it is fake....

Ok as a believer in what people call the a cult I have to say the movie was not real. The story says that Rustin Parrs house was burned down in 1941. But in the movie The 3 are in Rustin Parrs house at the end. How could they be in a house that was burned down over 45 years ago?

They went thru alot to make this seem real but there is no truth behind this movie, sad to say cause ive always liked the movie. In the ending credits it says this is entirely fictional... if you have the dvd watch the commentary with the ppl who wrote it, it really spoils it if u believe in all this but they joke about the movie....

If Rustin Parr's house was burned, then whose house did Heather and Mike go into at the end of the movie? I never paid much attention to this until I re-watched this.

They supposed to have entered a realm where laws of physics like TIME does not exist or is altered by some other power; like a different dimension. Rustin Parr's house you see still standing after it has been burned decades before is proof that neither the past, the present and future exist. It's just there.

In the mockumentary that was shown on TV before the movie hit theathers. Their stuff were apparently discovered deep in an old ruin that used to be a cabin from the 18th or 19th century if I remember it right. There was no way it could've reached there unless they were living in the that era. I'm pretty sure they're dead though.

Well it is, it was for a promotional gimmick and it's an absolutely phenomenal idea. We live in a time where advertising is in our everyday lives, this "documentary" was shown before the release of the movie. This allows for the realism of the movie to be even that much more intense. I think this whole facade, the movie and the documentary was probably one of the greatest public wide hoaxes ever created.

Elly Kedward is an anagram for medieval mystic Edward Kelly (aka Edward Talbot). Rustin Parr is supposed to be an anagram for Russian mystic Rasputin. Pretty much the story of the film is made up. But they did base elements of it on bits and pieces of real legends, such as the legend of the Bell Witch of Tennessee. The film was marketed as a real story, however.
