I'm curious to see Vancouver myself. Been living in Toronto for a few years now. It first it was pretty cool, but doesn't even come close to size and scope of New York nor does it have any stylish or aesthetic edge like Montreal does. Everyone looks stressed and hurried all the time. But, it's a nice place and it's in Canada. Can't complain, far from it.
Canada truly leads the world in personal freedoms. I would bet that their neighbour to the south will kick up a stink in the future, if Sarah palin or the like becomes president because they don't like people to be free and happy. Canada the Beautiful!
escaped slaves crossed into canada to be free, young men crossed into canada because they did not want to die in vietnam a war they felt the us had no reason to be in, gays and lesbians cross into canada to have the right and freedom to marry the ones they love. I am a proud Canadian citizen who has lived in the US most of my life. They call this country "the land of the free". but i ask, WHO IS THE REAL FREE COUNTRY?? CANADA is the real free country.
Although pot is not technically legal in Canada, we have VERY relaxed laws. Possession under an ounce are only fined around a 100 dollars, similar to a traffic violation. Nearly all first time offenders do not get a criminal record. Most Police around my town don't care about small amount of possession and will usually just confiscate it. As long as your not blowing smoke in peoples faces, smoking pot in your home is generally accepted.
@thames5 nah vancouver's so small you tire out the cool spots like commercial drive and bits of downtown vancouver. Its also extremely expensive, when did hippies start living in million dollar houses?
but i'd expect any fascist to label a country where people are free enough to marry who they want and smoke weed as a bunch of queers and drug addicts.
You are just showing how stupid you are. The more knowledge one has of drugs and alcohol, the more likely they are to support legal marijuana. You don't get addicted to pot and you can't stop it by making it illegal. So shut the fuck up you stupid, uneducated moron! Lighten up and smoke a joint.
@Rinconmaniac i guess that just shows that pot isnt that bad :}. i couldnt stop laughing at his wonderful rolling surface. i have been using my ap cal book but now i have to find my copy of the national dream.
If they're Chinese, why are they talking about Canadian affairs? And how are churches at odd with the state in a way that they weren't before? Aren't lots of things legal that are forbidden in the J-C religions? Are they being forced to participate in any of those things? What is it to them if something that they don't do happens to exist in the wider society? How is that their business? I guess there are no answers to these questions.
America is creepy. Somehow, the people got entranced with the 700 club and 'reganomics' and got addicted to safety and social policing. As an American, I dislike our national 'attitude-problem' and blatant arrogance with the world. It embarrasses me when I am abroad and see how Americans sometimes act. If Canada closed its borders, America would be much worse off. I like my country, but it has got to stop with the self-righteous parade. Humility and book reading might just do the trick.
@MonkeyBallZ214 The United States of America is no longer the greatest nation on earth Canada is turning out to be better than the United States. I am from the United States and I think people should have the freedom to smoke where ever and when ever they like and the people should have the right to pursue happiness anywhere in the world. Here in the United States we don't have that kind of enjoyment like Canada does.
They lit-up and smoked!!! I know, I had a heart attack too....but check the next part...PIERRE BURTON smoking pot?? On his last ever televised interview?? YAY CANADA!!! Yay Pierre Burton!
