sir iam not agree with that fact guru nanak sahib was not a sufi if he arrange to collect the kalam of shaikh fareed ji to read and followed by his followers.

that means sikhism was not started by guru nanak sahib if that kalam was exist before guru nanak. please dont minimize the whole concept of meditation and desire to meet true god by saying that any sufi belongs to any religion.

@nickkler i agree that Guru Nanak was a great religious leader and he developed a new religion. Sufism is something different.. Sufism is a sect of Islam in which it's adherent seeks inner mystical dimension through which one can know how to travel into the presence of the Divine, purify one's inner self from filth, and beautify it with a variety of praiseworthy traits.

Sufism means negating one's "Self". A sufi negates his innerself and develops direct connection with God.

Prophet Mohammad, Guru Nanak, Jesus and Buddha won hearts with tollarance and love. They never forced their point of view on anone one because God has never forced man to adopt God's will. He gave us free will.
