How do you arrive at the conclusion that the church was only attended for the wedding? A fairly big assumption on your part, I think. Also, why did you find it appropriate (to return a second time) just to comment on the appearance of the groom?
In England, at least, it's traditional for the bride to lead her bridesmaids up the aisle. I'm sure you could find Princess Diana's Wedding on YouTube, where her bridesmaids follow her up the aisle carrying her long dress...
