The Olympic torch is meant to mean the entire world coming together as one in the name of sports. The fact that you are linking the torch relay to Nazism is ludicrous. Anyone who protests the torch is protesting the world coming together for two weeks of the games. The torch does not know politics, or nations. The torch just knows how to make people feel proud.

Yes, but the part of the story you're leaving out is that the ancient DID have an Olympic flame that they kept lit throughout the games. It symbolized Prometheus' theft of Zeus' fire. You also forgot that the first time an Olympic torch was used in the modern games was Amsterdam 1928 (not Berlin 1936).

Simply put there was not an Olympic Torch Relay before the Berlin Games in 1936.

I can't be certain why they participate, but probably because it appealed to them. I mean I was just making a point. It is the truth thats all. I never meant to make the torch look like a negative thing, just thought history matters thats all-especially those who are carrying it. You should look it up if you don't believe it.
Regardless of the origins, it is now a symbol of coming together and peace. Would you hate the cure for cancer just because it was invented by a Nazi Scientist?
