  • watching it in 240p makes NO DIFFERENCE to this TITAN of a movie!

  • can you put up a list of all tracks?

  • @NuclearA : Check out the full video (google "Metropolis musical mashup" At 2 hour 1 minute mark - at the very end - I put the complete list of music in order it was used in this project.

  • @TheYuri thankyou!

  • Thanks, CriticalHitRecords! The first track is the opening track of Boney M's Night Flight to Venus.

  • Love Metropolis, given that it was a silent film I think the rational you've provided for your music choice is sufficient. I'm curious what the first song in this video is?

  • I like the music, i often mix modern music with silent films.

  • This video has raped the film of its german expressionism with this wholly inappropriate music.

  • haha i was so confused for a few seconds

  • I thought this was a DT song...

  • Great!

    Had never seen this classic.

    The music fits.

  • What is the movie about? Is it not about the subjugation of one group by another and the group's rebellion? Does the rock music not symbolize that very struggle? Does the music in this video not represent the mechanical aspects of the laborers' work? Is the movie not about creating a more effective communication between people and does the music not help that process by enabling a better connection between the viewer and the movie?

  • Excellent point. You may be right, but to me with heavy symphonic "serious" music, the effect becomes unbearable and tiresome. Unfortunately due to the fact that other people's music was used for this project, YouTube won't let me post more (I did the soundtrack for the whole movie), but the whole movie became much more enjoyable to the audiences that have seen it locally. Using modern music allowed people to create a connection to Metropolis that may not have existed before.

  • The music fits, but the film loses the gloom and foreboding of technology that Lang was trying so hard to portray.
