@tattooskin72 I know what you mean. Nobody is perfect. The question is whether they truly harbored animus towards prostitutes separate from other groups. As far as I can tell the researchers had little respect for many people based on class and social standing. Sex work is just a subset of a much larger issue. I'm not going to hold it against her. Her thing is medical history. I suggest you watch the other three vids if you can. They are very informative.
@alowlyapprentice I'm watching them ;) keep having to pause as I am trying to cook dinner for the family. But I think her point would have been much better made had she left out the whole "because prostitution was legal" bs and stuck to the reality of it. They took advantage of people based on class, race, social standing and stigma.
@tattooskin72 yes, I agree. It was pointed out to me, again, that she is a Women's studies Prof. But she is at Wellesley. So to me in a relative sense I kinda discount it to a degree, considering the school. But I don't cal it bs on it's face. It is not her characterization she is giving. It is that of those doing the research. And she explains how hard it is to get syphilis. Sex is the best way. And how exactly do you infect people? You get a captive group and make them have sex.
@tattooskin72 Yes she glossed over it. But they apply this unethical medical practice to any group they have little concern for as group or subgroup. It is not her we should focus on. It is the researchers. And unethical for sure. That's was I left that long comment on Mox's clip. He was distracting those of us that care deeply about sex workers lives and health with his title. For all I know it may have just been to get people to watch his clip. If that is the case he succeeded. LOL XD
I may agree with her on many thing she says, but I cannot get past her bullshit about "they went there because prostitution was legal".
