  • this is not Jap or Oki karate its Chinese Hsing I. check out Hsing I here on youtube. The instructor taught Robert W. Smith Hsing I in the book "The Chinese Boxing"

  • wth ??? .. is this suppost to be karate @ 1:20?

  • @HXL056100 it's probably shaolin long-fist or hung gar. similar to karate.

  • @2ravens2wolves I think since they are focusing on the internal styles it may be be xing yi.

  • @HXL056100 its xing yi, as far as the uniforms go I think it was probably just cheaper to get gi's for the students back then. Not to mention this was the 80s. The look was popular thanks to film.

  • lol by the time their done the Chi Training ... they will be too old and become masters them selfs

  • Can you obtain the complete series on DVD ??

  • Why does the training place looks like a Goju Ryu Karate Dojo . And the uniforms , belts and logo insignia outside of the martial art school looks exactly like a GOJU RYU KARATE DO school . Why taichi ? And the conditioning training is not kungfu but KARATE . Even the back of their uniforms had the Chinese Character which in Japanese translate as KARA-TE .

  • This is not goju, it's xingyi, goju comes from chinese sources so some moves are the same. the chinese characters mean Tang hand, Funakoshi changed the meaning to downplay the Chinese connection

  • excellent documentry but gives some misconcepitons about Tai Chi by saying it is the opposite of kung-fu(hard way/soft way). actually Tai Chi technique is a style in Wu-Tan kung fu.
