  • I cried watching this!!! He was just such a beautiful man and he understood life so well!!!

  • Don't forget Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bob Dylan and PAUL

  • As a songwriter and a Beatle, In my opinion, he never got the credit he deserved !

  • Can't forget Leon Russel !

  • George Harrison was so soulful; in the truest sense of the word. His spirituality was earthy and real as well as other worldly...really gifted. RIP

  • Sivarama Maharaja (. com) has a wonderful podcast on this song.... Beware of Maya (darkness, the bright shining illusionary energy of the material world) I needed this too ... thanks George!! ~"It's not what we are here for" Hare Krishna.

  • George was a writer. He wrote some very good songs with the Beatles which were under appreciated. All Things Must Pass was an awesome album, it did show a bit of his depression over the Beatles break-up. Also it showed that he was thinking about his mortality, He went into a somewhat happy phase after that with the Traveling Wilburys and songs like "I've got my mind set on you" But he re-visited the spiritual with his "Brainwashed" album, which would be his last. He died a good soul!

  • Gets better everytime I hear it !

  • HAPPY HOLIDAY & 2012!

  • i started to like George Harrison's songs after Spock's Beard's cover of Beware of Darkness (a very good version!). to, this is George's best song.

  • @AdamGrossman777 leon russell

  • The best song he ever wrote! Listened to it in my dorm over and over, must have driven my neighbors nuts!

  • Thank you irranicus for downloading this concert performance of George. This is my favorite George Harrison song. Today 11/29/11 is ten years since we lost him. and the world still misses him.

  • Great timing, I needed this now ! Thanks George !

  • man, this song is the truth

  • simply an amazing song by an amazing artist.

  • What a Timeless Song From a timeless album, the songs George recorded on that album "All Things Must Pass", and he did not think they were good enough, wow man today and for as long as we exist they are timeless classics, "What is life, my sweet lord, isn't it a pity, wah wah, hear me lord and of course beware of darkness... they'll be played for eternity, beautiful haunting melodies

  • I've loved George Harrison's album "All Things Must Pass" and have owned it since it was released... one of the ones that got replaced with cassettes and then cds... a favorite. But, anymore, I can't listen to "Beware of Darkness" without waiting for that thrill of Leon's voice.

  • A stunning and timeless song. Like others, I really only heard this song from the HBO-Scorcese documentary. It sounded like some of Jerry Garcia's songs later. I love the chord progressions and the words couldn't be more relevant than today.

  • GEORGE !POR QUE MIERDA NOS DEJASTE SOL S!!

  • I like the words & haunting melody

  • this so beautiful and I've never heard of it until finding Leon's version here on YT. Haunting lyrics--will have to listen to it over and over...premonitions of assassination ?

  • @CattailsandRoses

it's about Depression all the way.

  • @btwall60 He also writes the phrase "beware of maya" which is the illusion that we are all separate beings, according to some sources on the net. I think he was saying that there are a lot of things to look out for, including the deluded, depressed people that can "hit you and hurt you"

  • Respond to this video... Saw Martin Scorcese's film George Harrison: Living in the Material World the same weekend I heard this song for the first time.. George and Olivia describe having to fight for their lives against a mentally ill young man who broke a spear from a statue of the archangel Michael that was on their property and then charged into their house and up the staircase after them. The film is over 3 hours long but George's life deserves that much attention-Interesting!

  • Best George Harrison song.....

  • So encouraged that others are Remembering hearing these words in addition to the unparalleled sounds~~~ nothing like it before or since....Leon & George were so far beyond themselves...Leon still is. .Haunting is right on...deep down inside the soul and head......"soft shoe shufflers dancin' down the sidewalk".....doesn't get any better.. Friends, DO " Beware of Darkness". Yes, the documentary is impressive....been in a completely different head space since watching it a few times...

  • easily the best album and probably the best track.

  • @megaloni agree with you on that one ~ and at the time no one knew a flip about what was going on....and look what we ended up with ~~~absolute genius and history!

  • SO COOL TO SEE LEON RUSSELL TOO..........WHAT A MAJIC MOMENT IN TIME. WHERE IS THE MAJIC NOW......WHO CARES???? I DON'T SEE THE WEALTHY MUSICIANS HELP ANY STATE OR COUNTRY!!!!

  • this would have been perfect on abbey road---here comes the sun and beware of darkness!

  • this is great

  • Wow

  • バングラデシュの名場面~ジョージ渾身の魂曲"BewareOfDarkness"~途中から入るレオンのヴォーカルがたまらないネ!~永遠の楽曲

  • the republicorps , the creed of greed , koch bros and all their whores that serve special interests , big oil , that are ruining our planet for the sake of more corporate profits , they sure are taking us where we should not go .....

  • @Thadmotor1044 ...and the dirty Marxist in the White House-Baraq Obama

  • @HighMindedLunacy

Ah, the words of children who have no idea what they mean. How worthless.

See George's song "Tears of the World" for a bit. He predicts the future (present) quite well.

  • I dedicate this song to Amy Winehouse today.

  • I absolutely love George Harrison and this song but when Leon chimes in, I get shivers. Amazing talent..... dreamy too.

  • 3:15 WTF????????¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿

  • LEON WAS SO AWESOME. THERE JUST IS NO SPIRIT IN MUSIC THESE DAYS. I WISH ANIMALS WERE NOT ABUSED AND SLAUGHTERED EITHER YET FOOLS ARE SO BLIND IN DENIAL OF THE DARKNESS BEHIND THIER SUFFERING. GLAD PAULSTILL GETS THE MESSAGE OUT. SO MUCH NEGITIVE VIB FROM THE YOUTHS THESE DAYS. MAKE THE CONNECTION IN ONE ASPECT FOR PEACE. WATCH "EATHLINGS' ON YOUTUBE, IF ONLT THE FIRST 5 PARTS. ALL THE BEATLES MADE THE CONNECTION. BOTH ARE DEAD CAUSE PSCHO EVIL MEN KILLED THEM TOO. BEWARE OF DARKNESS. PEACE.

  • best secound verse of any song ever

  • Someone ask the question "who wants to see Leon Russell's face" while others are playing! I'll answer that later. This song, performed and written, by the late great George H. is most excellent. One of his better cuts. And, this song, sang and composed, by the great Leon Russell is worth hearing and seeing. There are few composers of this man's caliber; then or now!

  • @richardmbowman I was at this concert, and yes, it was awesome. The tickets were only $7.50. Try to see a concert of this caliber for that kind of money today...lol...last time I checked my stubs were worth $300 each, and that was before Harrison died. They're not for sale. There aren't very many of them around.

  • The Concert For Bangladesh was shown in movie theaters across the country. I went to see it at the old Imperial Theater in downtown Asheville, NC. It was also released as an album, which won the Grammy for Album of the Year, beating out Don McLean's "American Pie" that year.

  • George and Leon do it again!

  • COMO É ESPECIAL VER GEORGE HARRISON CANTANDO! QUE VOZ MARAVILHOSA, SUAVE E PROFUNDA!!! QUE SAUDADE!!!!

  • Cool! Camera crew sucks nads though!

  • he should have sung this song during the day then! :P jking, love itt

  • help me out here.

    While weeping at the cedars

    or while weeping atlas cedars?

the former makes more sense, but most lyric transcripts have it as atlas.

  • @jsmcguireIII Atlas cedars are trees in the middle east.

  • The quiet Beatle ?

    Perhaps.

    The " minor " Beatle ?

No way, no way at all.

  • This is by far one of my favorite songs ever written.

  • Who wants to see Leon Russell's face while George and/or Eric Clapton/and or Jesse Ed Davis are playing the solo?

  • I love Leon Russell's voice here.

  • It's a very interesting song not just lyrically, but also in the chord progression.

  • How can you dislike this song?? It rings with infinite spiritual wisdom. Just open your heart and listen... you will be FREE from darkness.

  • George, go in peace... Namaste' RIP

  • Little things that will change you forever = May appear from way out of the blue.

  • To the 7 people who disliked this----Beware of Darkness! It will hit you, it will hurt you. And if it doesn't, I will.

  • simply great

  • great song great lp release in 1970 i still listen to it

  • god george i love you

  • George/Jesus.

  • to me, this has to be George's best song.

  • @clucaspik Great Haunting melody, but the Words are More important..."Beware of Thoughts that Linger"...."Winding all around your head", They can hurt you"...George was so smart beyond his years..Part 2 of the Scorsese Documentary is so deeply revealing about his spiritual side. Its on HBO All this Month...im going to see it for thr 3rd time tomorrow night, 'Remenber "All Things Must Pass"

  • @judecreek2 - No, I graduated, washed dishes for 5 years, became suicidal and flew to maui with 12 cents with the intention to die. I was surrounded by wild mangos and coconuts and changed my mind about dying. I got a job washing dishes at a horrible restaurant and that's where I was introduced to George Harrison, who was staying at my boss' place. George, not knowing better, hung out with the wrong people, ate some mushrooms, fell down and cracked his head on a rock. True story.

  • @bamboosa Wow! Quite a tale, there! It's a funny thing, youtube, that is. I was listening to Concrete Blonde's version of this song and thought I'd look up the original G. Harrison version. To boot, I grew up in Kailua, Oahu...not that there's much relavence there, but anyhoo...Glad your still around to tell the tale! Aloha, brah!

  • The world is a sad place without you, George! Miss you forever..

  • @klekota57 - After I graduated from high school I had to register with the draft (71) and you can bet I was sweating bullets waiting for my lottery number. I'm not built for the service and I was prepared to drop a zillion mics of acid for the psyche test. I had no idea the marines loved George, maybe Jimi too. It warms my heart.

  • @bamboosa So what happened? Did you go in the service?

  • Timeless. Thank you, George, for this song that still fills my heart.

  • "Watch out now take care beware of greedy leaders

They'll take you where you should not go" I'm thinking Iraq, Afghanistan, Nicarauga,Panama,Guatemala, Somalia,East Timor, Haiti, etc...

  • Reminds me of my days with Hotel Company , Second Battalion, Seventh Marines..

Harrison a great man of Peace. The Marines loved him..God Bless your soul George.

  • @klekota57 That's good to hear brother.

  • I was 16 years and this was one of the events i still remember if it was yesterday. Goerge and Leon made a impression in my soul that with this song. R.I.P. George thanks for the great songs.

  • Emerging from the shadows of John and Paul with evocative songs, George showed he was their equal. Whether or not they knew how brilliant he was, one thing is sure: with a little help from his friends, he recorded and played a life-affirming masterpiece.

  • @gdosic beautifully said!

  • there's a feeling of emptiness, longing and sadness in George's voice and in most of the songs that he wrote. Hare Son! Rama George!

  • So flippin' good. This just kills

  • Beautiful. The band Spock's Beard does a great version of this. seek it out. Peace

  • wow

  • It's amazing how well some songs age; in some cases they get better with each passing year. This is a classic by any definition.

  • I was 16 years old when this happened, still gives me chills to listen to it and remember those times.

  • Leon's vocal always gave me chills - awesome

  • Just one thing "George Rules"

    R.I.P. BIG MASTER!!

  • 7 people who don't deserved this guy!

  • To the 7 people who gave this a thumb's down----BEWARE OF DARKNESS!

  • who are those 7 people who are vote down the video, even if is asweome is not famous enough,so it is suposed to be visited by the fans, anyway just respect this legend

  • "All Things Must Pass" blew away ANYTHING John Lennon EVER put out.

  • @RapIsDeadly I dunno about that but George and John in my opinion had the best solo albums of The Beatles. A lot of emotion and depth in thier music.

  • @RapIsDeadly george here

  • @RapIsDeadly nope

  • @RapIsDeadly

Lennon had Imagine/Jealous guy. Then the Dream #9 album. Then "Woman"

What did Lennon have that was even half as good as All Things Must Pass.

Lennon is way overrated as a soloist. McCartney blew him away also. Look at all the super great songs Wings had.

  • @RapIsDeadly lennon had to get his health back---i think woman and beautiful boy are wonderful

  • @RapIsDeadly John probably wished he had written it.

  • HEAR HOW EVERYONE GOES NUTS AT 1:43 SECS WHEN LEON PIPES IN...

  • The world is so much poorer for the loss of this gentle soul. RIP George

  • For all the lost souls of the Tea Party...

  • @TJTele I think that for them, the darkness has already won.

  • george, contrary to popular belief, was a prolific song writer, also for the beatles. read his book.

  • this is amazing . how could be 7 dislikes? :S

you are living in this world men?

  • Why wasn't Leon at the "Concert for George"? Glaring omission.

  • @blogmynoggin I agree. I always wondered why Leon wasn't a Wilbury.

  • @blogmynoggin I've often thought the same of Leon's absence at George's concert, each time I take a peak at a few songs.

They were great friends long before "Bangladesh."

I can't believe he wasn't invited, so I've written it off to the possibility that Leon was so sick, he couldn't get out of bed. I'm sure you wil agree that only something of that sort, or maybe a serious illness in his family as well, that kept him away.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @rockinroller7 I always wondered why Dylan was absent at the Concert for George also? Does anyone out there know why? Must be a simple thing.

  • @candelise Not sure.

The only "Speculation," I've read was that Dylan was on tour, but that seems totally absurd to me, given the importance of George's event.

Even if he had a performance the same night, it could have been cancelled, rescheduled, and he would have been there.

Just as I speculated about Leon's absence, the only thing I can imagine would be an issue in Dylan's family.

I can't believe for a moment he wouldn't have been invited.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @rockinroller7 Dylan was performing at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. on November 22, 2002. Not sure if that's a good excuse or not for missing George's concert tribute- but thats the facts.

  • @candelise Just wanted to add, of course the tribute for George was months in planning, making it a 99% bet that the line-up, which I believe included Dylan was in was already sent out so all could make arrangements, so again, as I wrote before: a family issue had to be it, even tough I read a blog that said Dylan was on tour but did a song for his that same night of the concert for him, and it's supposed to be on YT, but I tried every "Title," I could think of and found nothing.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @rockinroller7 Dylan was on tour that day and he played Georges "Something" in tribute to George

  • @candelise Dylan did participate in the Concert for Bangladesh!- Dyaln and George played a duet of "If Not For You"

  • @4FabBEATLES Not that I was there, but I was well aware that Dylan played at the Bangladesh gig and I recall the news at the time! My issue was that Leon was not at the 'Concert for George' and Dylan was absent ALSO!

  • @candelise Leon was recovering from surgery to repair a fissure near the brain pan over his sinuses. The fissure caused headaches worse than migraines and brain fluid to leak out of his nose. He's had 3 more surgeries for the same problem since, the latest being only 3 weeks before performing at this years Grammy's, and only a month before recording his duet album with Elton John.

  • @judecreek2 I did hear about Leons' health issues. My point concerned DYLAN, but, never mind, we all have the info now, thanks.

  • @candelise I though you were implying Bob and Leon hadn't played with George musch period. anyway, now you have the story, Bob was doing a concert, Leon was sick

  • @4FabBEATLES Yes, thanks!

  • @candelise Dylan did participate in the Concert for Bangladesh!- Dylan and George played a duet of "If Not For You", but the reason Dylan missed the Concert for George was @rockinroller7 Dylan was performing at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. on November 22, 2002. Not sure if that's a good excuse or not for missing George's concert tribute- but thats the facts.

  • @4FabBEATLES Dylan played more than one song at the Concert for Bangladesh-he, George and Leon played "Just Like a Woman", and a few others. The videos are here, you just gotta look for them. I don't know why they're not featured as prominently as the rest of then.

  • @candelise @rockinroller7 Dylan was performing at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. on November 22, 2002. Not sure if that's a good excuse or not for missing George's concert tribute- but thats the facts.

  • @4FabBEATLES I suppose it's fair to say that Dylan, having always been "a man alone," (except for his time with the Wilburys) when it comes to touring, deciding to not take a night off to be at George's tribute, is just part of who he is. (Who am I to judge his motives, in any case?)

It seems somewhat cosmic I suppose, but George was probably very much delighted to hear Dylan do "Something," to show his love for George.

Thanks for clearing it all up.

    Peace.

  • George wrote some of the most beautiful and surprising chord changes into his songs. This is one of his best. Stunning and beautiful. To say nothing of his lyrics. The man was a prophet. RIP George and thank you.

  • To the seven people who disliked this video, beware of darkness.

  • beautiful...

  • Leon Russell and George...great music together...

  • que letra !!, ahhh.

  • All Things Must Pass is not his debut album. It's his third.

  • Ditto, ditto and ditto. I grew up in the Beatles' era. George was truly a class act with a ton of dignity. There is no real music out there today. This is the real stuff and will live on forever. p.s. what a truly great piece of music regardless of who performs it. Thanks Goerge.

  • watch out now,for greedy leaders...who take u where you should not go

  • @slim2nonexxx

Dick Cheney, Dick Cheney, Dick Cheney

  • the messages George sent to the world through his music are still true today- Beware of darkness in your head and all around you!

  • Harrison, the quite Beatle, so wonderfull playing that song!

  • 39 years ago yoday.......

  • i think George must be the coolest Beatle

  • From the Beatles thru the Willburys, George remained a class act all the way. And of course, Leon was, is, and will always be The Master of Space and Time!

  • @judecreek2 Indeed this is one of the most powerful music videos on youtube.

  • George rules!

  • This is such a beautiful song.

  • The anchor of this and so many other bands and performances: Leon Russell.

I miss these days. Real talent, real musicians, no showiness, no flash. Just interested in playing music.

  • Leon stole the song!

  • Comment removed

  • Geroge was so wise, spiritual and a wonderful musician. It's sad people never appreciated him much and now he's gone. he may be the "quiet Beatle" but when he said anything it was important!

  • What an incrediably beautiful song, listen to the lyrics- there's a lot of wisdom in them. God I am so glad I grew up during that era. RIP George and Billy Preston.

  • George Harrison has a unique timbre of voice. It's just very pleasing to hear his music. George is the most humble musician I've ever listened. He don't allowed the success put a end in his life, like Lennon. Anyway, a exemplary musician and being human.

  • Saw Harrison dec 10th 1974 at the old Boston garden,ah memorys,,,

  • so many of my favorite performers at this show harrison, dylan the list goes on

  • Most spiritual Beatle.

  • che te olvidaste de bob dylan...

  • i wanted the initial camera zoom to zip right up his right nostril. Why not. It was going there anyway.

  • oh Leon!!

  • I look forward to meet him in Heaven, that's all I want...

  • Epic.

  • Actually, "All Things Must Pass" was not Harrison's debut LP. He recorded and released "Wonderwall Music" and "Electronic Sounds" before "All Things Must Pass."

  • George is great but Leon steals the show!

  • @Tuddyboy11 naaa

  • the whole world mistreated yoko, George was one but they were fine after a while, he said live in an interview ut was nothing to do with Yoko that the Beatles split also he played one of her boyfirends in 'Jealous Guy' - looking beautiful and elegant as ever with Yoko on his arm, also gorgeous.

Anyway lovely song and footage xxx

  • Love it!

  • Thanks for posting this highlight of the Bangladesh concert!

Too bad the commentary below has degenerated into a nonsensical, inappropriate and entirely out-of-place screed about whether or not Yoko Ono was mistreated!!!

  • this song is bewitched. so beautiful and spooky at the same and one time.

one time i suddenly woke in the middle of the night, for no apparent reason, this song playing loudly and clear in my head. a lifetime won't be enough for me to describe the acute, scary and incredibly beautiful feeling it provoked in me in that moment.

  • @dodotangens I had a dream last night that I was there with George Harrison in the mountains somewhere and he was warning me to Beware of Sadness, as if it were life threatening for me. And lately in real life I was very very sad after a bad experience and the sadness lasted days. Then the dream went on to other things like the L.A. fires last summer. I often wake up with the song All Things Must Pass going thru my mind lately.

  • Beware of Abkco...

  • phil spector didnt take him to the top if anything he stiffled him

  • John Lennon did not participate because George didn't want Yoko there

  • some say George's record company he founded "Dark Horse" implied his displeasure at being left out of the songwriting and singing for the Beatles

  • John Lennon refused to participate in this conert saying 'chairity events usually were a rip off' and he was kinda right. the money from this benefit concert was mishandled and arrived in bagledash 3 yrs later.

  • not exactly... but it was sure a convenient out when that turned out to be the case! Macca didn't participate because Ringo participated and John was going to and he didn't want to confuse people into thinking there was a Beatles reunion happening. John left at the last minute because George got bitchy about Yoko appearing with him. Maybe if Clapton had stepped in on Yoko's behalf he would have let her play.
