You son of a bitch. You ruined season 5 for me with just the title of this clip. I just finished 4 and found out about the prequels. I look them up and get your spoiler crap.
@xavierwebb I've noticed that too especially in the scene where he's walking and talking to Namond about starting to work the package and he makes a surprise facial expression similar to Avon
you can't be, it's part of what made the show the best there ever was. an iconic character killed by an child, and Bodie goes out like a pawn in a chess game.
Eventhough they had a peanut take him out, he was the fierce-ist character on the Wire! Dudes scatterin' in the streets when he walked by an' shit....some funny shit.
The one good thing about Omar's death was seeing Chris's and Snoop's reaction. Some tiny kid did what two ruthless experienced enforcers could not. Did them a favor really. If they found him first Omar would have dropped them both. Nobody could kill Omar Little so it took a little nobody to kill the unkillable man.
Bunks reaction to his death changes completly after he realises Omar was killing again after he swore to him he would'nt. its priceless acting "back on the hunt where ya!".
This proves that Kenard is the baddest player in the game. We all know Omar deserved a better death, and he should've fucked up Chris, Snoop, and Marlo, but realize this: Kenard did what the mass murderers (Chris and Snoop), a diabolical genius and psychopathic drug lord (Marlo), and other players in the game could NEVER manage to do - take out a street legend. That alone makes Kenard most deserving of the crown because he clearly "Got there early" like none of the others ever could with Omar.
Omar's death and aftermath was a slap in the face to the viewers. First, he got shot by a random kid, when he should've went out either by Chris, Marlo or Snoop, second, not enough people appreciated what Omar did.
What are you even talking about.. it already makes no sense that he survived that long with the whole city hunting him for 10 years. Something like that was bound to happen.
And the aftermath scenes are appropriate for Omar. People on the streets are amazed and talking, but nobody in real life cares.
Omar had to go somehow, i mean, you could see him weakening. No partner, no mentor, broken leg, all by himself. Just not fair he was killed by Kenard. This was a slap in the face to the viewers from the writers. Omar deserved a better death.
@diplomats101 I agree Omar deserved a better death. But getting shot in the dome by a child while you're buying newports just shows that the game never stops, and there will always be some young punk trying to make a name and reputation for himself.
Omar was the best character. I hate that they killed him off, especially by kenard. I guess that's how it is though, the person you would least expect.
Yeah. I loved this show but i'm from baltimore, and it's a bit of a stretch that one guy walking around and everybody's scared of him. In reality Omar would have been shot in broad daylight in front of everybody to set a example.

It's crazy. Omar is a legend in the streets. When he died his name rang out. But on the other hand, in every day life no one even knows who he is. His death doesn't even reach a back page newspaper story.
Omar's death, contrary to what people think, is the most well-done on the show. Chris eats 24 bodies & Marlo's Pearlman's bargaining chip with Levy...
I agree 100%. Omar was one of the best written and acted characters in tv history. Hard as a rock, ruthless yet out for revenge for his love. Classic character and show
@teezilla Indeed!! Seems like there's a lot of ignorance when it comes to Omar's demise, it's mostly fitting b/c in this season he became a tragic figure - guided by vengeance, rather than his code. In the streets there's NO immunity from the violence. Omar was a violent guy & it caught up with him.
@teezilla I was absolutley enraged when Omar got killed. One of the worst on screen deaths in tv history for such a great character.
Omar made the whole show, and to just randomly kill him off was retarded. His death contradicted everything he stood for, Omar was an insanely street smart stick up boy, who was like an urbanb myth, the man can fight like 20 armed thugs at a time, but he gets killed by a 7 years old???
@Wesson4 He cant fight 20 armed thugs at a time, he wasn't that invincible and we never saw him in that kind of situation. You are right that he was a like an urban myth, which is what contributed to his image and made others run at the sight of him and give up dope when he's not even got a gun on him ( in season 2 or3). I loved the character too, though I think the way he got killed reflects how messed up the streets/game got with Marlo and the 'new' generation, as annoying as it is.
@teezilla Tru, and further more the story of his death becomes even more glorified on the street. People pass around word of mouth about how he had two AKs in his hands and went out guns ablazing. He became something of a legend within the game.
@killerskillet: It's a spoiler, but for who? Who's going to have the show spoiled for them by watching this? Someone that just started watching the series? Well, why would that person be searching youtube for wire clips if they just started watching the series. That'd be like me searching Youtube for Mad Men or Breaking Bad clips after I just start watching the show. Assumption of the risk. If you just start watching a show don't search youtube for clips on it unless u want to be spoiled.
@Lifendz it'd be a spoiler for anyone who had heard any of the thousands of critics or millions of fans of the show, but either A. Don't have HBO or access to the DVD's or B. don't know whether to invest the time in following the series. Contrary to your ridiculous notion that people "want to be spoiled", I recently saw a spoiler for Homicide: Life on the Street on Youtube, and was pretty pissed off about it. Also, I hadn't seen a single episode, I was just trying to get a feel for it.
@killerskillet: No need to become internet asshole guy. I'm simply saying if you start searching youtube clips of a show you haven't seen then you're pretty much accepting the risk of seeing a spoiler. If you don't have HBO or access to the DVDs and want to get into the series but don't have the time, then you probably should avoid youtube because you're going to see a spoiler. It's like going on a forum to read about a show you haven't seen. Ur almost asking for a spoiler.
@ruggeroization Knew it wasn't a matter of fucking time before a fucking racist bitch, who can't even spell SHIT.
would pop up on here calling someone a nigger. why don't you shut up? shit like this happens every fucking day and trust me.if you slip up on a black person you WILL get shot like Omar was right here.
i have a brilliant education and know how to spell.
YOU on the other hand can't even spell,no one threatened you,i was telling you what would've happened had you called a black man a nigger to his face. quit trying to be a tough guy over the internet because if you slip and meet that person for real you'll get your ass beat like the pussy you are.
@RavenBee Look up the scene when Omar visits Michael to get the world to Marlo, Kernard was there and was unimpressed by Omar because Omar was limping "he calls him a gimpy ass mothafucka" at the end of that scene plus Omar sticked them up. Kenard was the only one that stared down Omar when he was leaving, even Michael was shitting his pants. So Kenard had it in for Omar but Omar didn't know.
you gotta watch all of kinards and omars random meet ups to see why kinard shot him. every time omar pulled shit and kinard was there, you can see it in his face. they rigged it up for omar to get killed by kinard since season 4
At the start of The Wild Bunch (1969), the leader of the bunch, Pike, makes eye contact with some kids who are torturing scorpions. At the end of the film Pike himself is killed by a kid who gets hold of a gun.The film was about the mantle of violence passing from old professionals like Pike and his bunch, who operate according to a code, into the hands of a new generation that learns to kill more impersonally, as a game (also like Marlo). I'd like to hope this scene was a reference to the film.
The end of that episode was amazing. Basically if Omar Little was a white man living in Bmore he would have been a homocide detective or something arresting drug dealers and cleaning up the streets. But since he was born into all this shit from the perspective of a impoverished black man he had no opportunity to enter the corporate world and was labeled a murderer and a criminal. The coroner then switches the tags...absolutely brilliant.
@SonnyA89 He switched the tags 'cause they were mislabeled. No more no less. If anything, it is the mislabeling itself that shows how, after death, his legendary status and identity can be lost by simple, almost random events(just like his death itself). Correcting the tags has no significance. And I ddidn't even see 5 minutes from this series; just heard it was good, decided not to watch it nonetheless, but wanted to see who this Omar guy was.
@shimyns If you haven't watched the show how can you say i'm wrong? Makes no sense, and that's the beauty of The Wire it can be interpreted in so many ways. Don't go telling me what I think is wrong.
You know what's amazing about this scene? Is that by some unknown kid doing Omar and the newspapers refusal to print it...it only enhances his legendary status, no one could claim his drop because of fear, like "if you could kill Omar, what would you do to me?!?"
@shane111111122222222 - That's lighter fluid. I think this is to show that Kenard is a little psychopath (killing small animals as a child is a trait). Kenard is the only kid that didn't run away when Omar came, he followed him to the store & shot him. ...But I guess the cat is probably still OK!
"You working a Stanfield corner, which means you're working for a straight up punk! You feel me?! I'm out on these streets everyday day, me and my lonesome, but where he at?! Huh?!" Marlo was too chicken shit to face him in the streets, I know he had to have heard that Omar was calling him out
@H00D22 Actually, I think his crew (mostly Chris) made a point of not telling Marlo what Omar was saying, remember the "my name is my name" rant Marlo had in jail, it's because nobody ever told him that Omar was calling him out in the street
stupid scene. it made no sense for omar to die like that. a little kid just walks in and shoots omar...yeah sure...because that's so believable. sigh another "shock" plot device, dumb. sadly this is the norm for shows anymore.
@copsondonuts you just dont get it at all. THATS exactly why this show is amazing. It was so true to life. People dont die is big ass shootouts with the cops and all that stuff. And the newspaper scene was brillant as well as the hospital one. Its showing that with all his "street cred", shit that people think makes them so great in the end all he was is a dead thug that becomes a statistic days later. BRILLANCE
@copsondonuts or you could go to the predictable plot of omar gunning down marlo's lieutenants and setting himself up with a showdown with marlo himself in the streets, shotgun drawn, doves flying by, tumbleweeds, whistling, and all kinds of predictable shit. cuz you know, that's how its suppose to be done. all i can say is, the series dodged a major bullet by not having you as one its writers.
@rs002 well because you know...it's just SO out of the ordinary these days to write about anti-heroes and ghetto dope dealers...gimme a break. it was nothing more than 'shock' value writing at worst, and laziness at best. herc workin for levy, the tough lesbo chick and a drinking cop are thrown in also. youre one of these morons who prolly think the wire is true to life arent you?
@copsondonuts sadly yeah, i am one of those morons who think that that facet of baltimore (the drug game, the crooked cops/politicians, the out of control school system, the victims of the said system, the triumphs/tragedies of the human spirit in addicts) are 'true to life', or, if i may use my own words, 'somewhat reflective'. but don't take my word for it. ask the people who are from there & who have watched the show.
look, we're all sad to see omar go. but he was a victim of the game.
@rs002 im not gonna get into the whole "i know people from baltimore"- game cuz were both online and cant prove a thing. and i got no problem with the tv show reflecting ills of urban society, altho they take it to levels that are highly unrealistic. omar's death scene in my opinion is a gimmick-shock for viewers and nothing more. weve seen it a zillion times. its just lazy writing to me.
@copsondonuts no doubt many of the scenes are exaggerated, the show is a work of fiction after all. i for one would've loved for omar to at least pop either chris, snoop or marlo, if not all of them. but i get it why the writers went with a rather anticlimactic death: kenard is a punk kid which has avon written all over him; he wanted to rule the game and thinks that omar is an adversary and killed him. strigner's death is actually more of a 'gimmicky' death than omar. omar's just meh.
@rs002 i rather liked the way stringer went out. alone, half afraid then angry at being sold out. and kenard to me symbolizes a 'new' marlo with his psychopathic tendencies. i dont really have any sort of omar-death scene thought out, although i did like the prelude to him being shot ill admit. robbing marlo's corner, the quietness of the street etc.
@copsondonuts i think both sting & omar died appropriately: stinger as a businessman bred in the streets, and omar in an out-of-the-blue-nobody-saw-it-coming way (or in your own words, 'gimmick-shock'). omar's raids happened in random days where gamers are going about their usual business. it's only fitting when omar had to go the same way. and kenard isn't the 'new' marlo; he's the 'new' avon: loud, proud, and a punk. marlo doesn't have a successor (like omar=mike).
huh. omar and tony soprano died kinda similar. There's a bell at the door. They don't notice their killer, and they both take one in the right temple before they even know it. Not that The Sopranos can be compared to The Wire in any way...
I don't want to make this all about The Sopranos, seeing as this is a Wire clip. But if you want to dig deeper into the Sopranos ending, check out "The Sopranos: The Definitive Explanation of THE END" article. It's really interesting.
Omar died because of killing Savino, anybody Omar killed he had just cause to do so, he didn't have reason for killing Savino because he wasn't a threat. The way he killed Savino is the way he died one to the head
It's ironic that all these badass gangsters like avon and marlo tried to have omar killed and failed and in the end it was a little kid that managed to take him out.
Reading some of these comments is painful. First off, learn to spell people. Second, clearly most of you have absolutely no idea what this show is about or why Omar's story ended the way it did. I can only conclude that most of you must have been watching The Wire for all the wrong reasons.
Haha, notice how Kenard's the one torturing that cat. They say abusing animals at a young age is a tell-tale sign that the person doing so is likely to become a serial killer, or some other form of psychopath, later on in life. Looks like Kenard's going to be the next Marlo, eh?
@doggebagge Omar isn't limping, because he's no longer alive. Signs: 1) he's not limping, 2) he no longer has a mentor, 3) he asked for a "soft" pack of Newports instead of a box, and 4) his last words were made on a street corner that was boarded up & had no life. While he's on that corner, he's looking around as if it's his last time being there. Kenard, on the other hand, was just ruthless enough of a kid to pull this off. Sad, but Kenard's life was over due to his own circumstances.
Thinking back to when Bunk was chiding Omar for living such a violent life when kids in the city looked up to him, having him die like this makes perfect sense. The old guard taught and inspired kids like Micheal Lee and Kennard, before eventually being killed off and supplanted by them.
if u notice kernard was NEVER scared of omar. all the kids go omar's coming while kernard jus keeps playing while staring him down. kernards cockyness and ability too look innocent is what got omar killed.
This shows there's no ethical way to play "the game." No doubt, Omar did have his code. He didn't menace civilians, he was loyal to his associates and family, but that wasn't enough. Like Bunk told him, he contributed to the cycle of violence in the city, and in the end, he was done in by a boy who imitated him.
The Wire is a show about human nature. The death of Omar shows socialization between others can affect any situation. Him being "moralic" eventually leads to his demise.Rationalizing Kenard as a "innocent" because of his staure causes this. However, because of his influences Kenard recognizes Omar as just a "gump."
I agree, this was the realistic way for him to go out. But out of all the people Omar went after, I really hated Marlo and his crew. I wanted Omar to get them. Oh well......
This is the hood version of Jessie James and Robert Ford

@teezilla Indeed!! Seems like there's a lot of ignorance when it comes to Omar's demise, it's mostly fitting b/c in this season he became a tragic figure - guided by vengeance, rather than his code. In the streets there's NO immunity from the violence. Omar was a violent guy & it caught up with him.

Who are these people you refer to?
You speak for no one, except your own deluded self.
Romansteel13 1 month ago
@teezilla I was absolutley enraged when Omar got killed. One of the worst on screen deaths in tv history for such a great character.
Omar made the whole show, and to just randomly kill him off was retarded. His death contradicted everything he stood for, Omar was an insanely street smart stick up boy, who was like an urbanb myth, the man can fight like 20 armed thugs at a time, but he gets killed by a 7 years old???
So dumb
Wesson4 1 month ago
@Wesson4 It may sound sick - but this little bitch ass kid deserves death, more than anybody. A painful one, too
amare1cro 1 month ago
@Wesson4 He cant fight 20 armed thugs at a time, he wasn't that invincible and we never saw him in that kind of situation. You are right that he was a like an urban myth, which is what contributed to his image and made others run at the sight of him and give up dope when he's not even got a gun on him ( in season 2 or3). I loved the character too, though I think the way he got killed reflects how messed up the streets/game got with Marlo and the 'new' generation, as annoying as it is.
CuriousWhale 3 weeks ago
@CuriousWhale Im exagertaing a bit, but still there were plenty of scenes where the odds were heavely against Omar and he always prevailed.
Him gettting killed by a grasshopper, is just whack
Wesson4 3 weeks ago
@teezilla Tru, and further more the story of his death becomes even more glorified on the street. People pass around word of mouth about how he had two AKs in his hands and went out guns ablazing. He became something of a legend within the game.
holdemehha 1 week ago
Kenard is the only one who could have killed Omar precisely because he is a child and Omar is some kind of black sandman.
Omar is a spooky tale to frighten children at night...he's not only a man he's a myth.
You can see this when he goes to the dealers' houses and threatens them from the outside, just like the wolf did with the three little pigs.
It makes sense that all it took to finally kill him was a little child.
If you can defeat your own fears, then you can defeat a monster.

Lifendz 6 months ago
@Lifendz it'd be a spoiler for anyone who had heard any of the thousands of critics or millions of fans of the show, but either A. Don't have HBO or access to the DVD's or B. don't know whether to invest the time in following the series. Contrary to your ridiculous notion that people "want to be spoiled", I recently saw a spoiler for Homicide: Life on the Street on Youtube, and was pretty pissed off about it. Also, I hadn't seen a single episode, I was just trying to get a feel for it.
killerskillet 6 months ago
@killerskillet: No need to become internet asshole guy. I'm simply saying if you start searching youtube clips of a show you haven't seen then you're pretty much accepting the risk of seeing a spoiler. If you don't have HBO or access to the DVDs and want to get into the series but don't have the time, then you probably should avoid youtube because you're going to see a spoiler. It's like going on a forum to read about a show you haven't seen. Ur almost asking for a spoiler.

What reason did kenard have to shoot omar?
RavenBee 7 months ago
@RavenBee Look up the scene when Omar visits Michael to get the world to Marlo, Kernard was there and was unimpressed by Omar because Omar was limping "he calls him a gimpy ass mothafucka" at the end of that scene plus Omar sticked them up. Kenard was the only one that stared down Omar when he was leaving, even Michael was shitting his pants. So Kenard had it in for Omar but Omar didn't know.

SonnyA89 8 months ago 2
@SonnyA89 He switched the tags 'cause they were mislabeled. No more no less. If anything, it is the mislabeling itself that shows how, after death, his legendary status and identity can be lost by simple, almost random events(just like his death itself). Correcting the tags has no significance. And I ddidn't even see 5 minutes from this series; just heard it was good, decided not to watch it nonetheless, but wanted to see who this Omar guy was.

SonnyA89 7 months ago
You know what's amazing about this scene? Is that by some unknown kid doing Omar and the newspapers refusal to print it...it only enhances his legendary status, no one could claim his drop because of fear, like "if you could kill Omar, what would you do to me?!?"

stupid scene. it made no sense for omar to die like that. a little kid just walks in and shoots omar...yeah sure...because that's so believable. sigh another "shock" plot device, dumb. sadly this is the norm for shows anymore.
copsondonuts 10 months ago
@copsondonuts you just dont get it at all. THATS exactly why this show is amazing. It was so true to life. People dont die is big ass shootouts with the cops and all that stuff. And the newspaper scene was brillant as well as the hospital one. Its showing that with all his "street cred", shit that people think makes them so great in the end all he was is a dead thug that becomes a statistic days later. BRILLANCE
SDot10 9 months ago
@copsondonuts or you could go to the predictable plot of omar gunning down marlo's lieutenants and setting himself up with a showdown with marlo himself in the streets, shotgun drawn, doves flying by, tumbleweeds, whistling, and all kinds of predictable shit. cuz you know, that's how its suppose to be done. all i can say is, the series dodged a major bullet by not having you as one its writers.
rs002 9 months ago
@rs002 well because you know...it's just SO out of the ordinary these days to write about anti-heroes and ghetto dope dealers...gimme a break. it was nothing more than 'shock' value writing at worst, and laziness at best. herc workin for levy, the tough lesbo chick and a drinking cop are thrown in also. youre one of these morons who prolly think the wire is true to life arent you?
copsondonuts 9 months ago
@copsondonuts sadly yeah, i am one of those morons who think that that facet of baltimore (the drug game, the crooked cops/politicians, the out of control school system, the victims of the said system, the triumphs/tragedies of the human spirit in addicts) are 'true to life', or, if i may use my own words, 'somewhat reflective'. but don't take my word for it. ask the people who are from there & who have watched the show.
look, we're all sad to see omar go. but he was a victim of the game.
rs002 9 months ago
@rs002 im not gonna get into the whole "i know people from baltimore"- game cuz were both online and cant prove a thing. and i got no problem with the tv show reflecting ills of urban society, altho they take it to levels that are highly unrealistic. omar's death scene in my opinion is a gimmick-shock for viewers and nothing more. weve seen it a zillion times. its just lazy writing to me.
copsondonuts 9 months ago
@copsondonuts no doubt many of the scenes are exaggerated, the show is a work of fiction after all. i for one would've loved for omar to at least pop either chris, snoop or marlo, if not all of them. but i get it why the writers went with a rather anticlimactic death: kenard is a punk kid which has avon written all over him; he wanted to rule the game and thinks that omar is an adversary and killed him. strigner's death is actually more of a 'gimmicky' death than omar. omar's just meh.
rs002 9 months ago
@rs002 i rather liked the way stringer went out. alone, half afraid then angry at being sold out. and kenard to me symbolizes a 'new' marlo with his psychopathic tendencies. i dont really have any sort of omar-death scene thought out, although i did like the prelude to him being shot ill admit. robbing marlo's corner, the quietness of the street etc.
copsondonuts 9 months ago
@copsondonuts i think both sting & omar died appropriately: stinger as a businessman bred in the streets, and omar in an out-of-the-blue-nobody-saw-it-coming way (or in your own words, 'gimmick-shock'). omar's raids happened in random days where gamers are going about their usual business. it's only fitting when omar had to go the same way. and kenard isn't the 'new' marlo; he's the 'new' avon: loud, proud, and a punk. marlo doesn't have a successor (like omar=mike).
rs002 9 months ago
@rs002 youve kind of convinced me to your side with that last post i have to admit.

Have you ever noticed the Omar is'nt limping when he is walking in to the store? The leg healed fast!
doggebagge 1 year ago
@doggebagge Omar isn't limping, because he's no longer alive. Signs: 1) he's not limping, 2) he no longer has a mentor, 3) he asked for a "soft" pack of Newports instead of a box, and 4) his last words were made on a street corner that was boarded up & had no life. While he's on that corner, he's looking around as if it's his last time being there. Kenard, on the other hand, was just ruthless enough of a kid to pull this off. Sad, but Kenard's life was over due to his own circumstances.
