it is a bit faster in 1/4 mile, but forte has better design, more low end power, much cheaper. - it is a big win if you are looking for DD (i assume most people do not live their life 1/4 mile at a time)

@26marbay Actually it is true, the CRX Si from 88-91 had a 0-60 of 8.5 seconds, which was extremely good for a small 4 cylinder, but was achievable due to it's good power-to-weight ratio. Look it up.
It's got a 2.4L engine with 173 HP, but yet my CRX Si is faster and it's got a 1.6L 106 HP engine, why can't they make any very lightweight cars anymore, and the new CRZ is a joke, it weighs 300 lbs more than the Si and is a second and a half slower.

It looks a little like a civic/focus RS/Jetta all in one. Great looking little car. It's nice somebody is making a sporty car for under 20,000 too. For the money you would save why would you get a civic?
I need an affordable car in about 6-9 months. I would go with the Civic if I could afford it but this one is so much more affordable. I think it's a smart move by Kia. I would need to test drive this car (sedan not Koup) before I make my decision though. If it drives well I'd go this route. Worse case scenario I'd settled for a used Civic. Preferably one whose previous driver leased the vehicle.

I doubt that world renowned car designer Peter Schreyer would really try and "rip-off" Japanese designs... You can get practically any two cars on the road today and pick out design cues from other cars. It's a bit hypocritical of people to always be accusing Kia of just copying other cars. You want to see a copy, look at the Chinese cars. They are copies. This on the other hand is a brilliant looking car and a great car for how much it costs.

it is a bit faster in 1/4 mile, but forte has better design, more low end power, much cheaper. - it is a big win if you are looking for DD (i assume most people do not live their life 1/4 mile at a time)

@26marbay Actually it is true, the CRX Si from 88-91 had a 0-60 of 8.5 seconds, which was extremely good for a small 4 cylinder, but was achievable due to it's good power-to-weight ratio. Look it up.

It's got a 2.4L engine with 173 HP, but yet my CRX Si is faster and it's got a 1.6L 106 HP engine, why can't they make any very lightweight cars anymore, and the new CRZ is a joke, it weighs 300 lbs more than the Si and is a second and a half slower.

I need an affordable car in about 6-9 months. I would go with the Civic if I could afford it but this one is so much more affordable. I think it's a smart move by Kia. I would need to test drive this car (sedan not Koup) before I make my decision though. If it drives well I'd go this route. Worse case scenario I'd settled for a used Civic. Preferably one whose previous driver leased the vehicle.

I doubt that world renowned car designer Peter Schreyer would really try and "rip-off" Japanese designs... You can get practically any two cars on the road today and pick out design cues from other cars. It's a bit hypocritical of people to always be accusing Kia of just copying other cars. You want to see a copy, look at the Chinese cars. They are copies. This on the other hand is a brilliant looking car and a great car for how much it costs.

@DtorBill I take it that english isnt your language of choice. When I said it looked similiar I didnt mean its a all out copy of the Civic. I clearly said the headlights look the same but the A, B, and C pillar. Body lines and roof lines looks NOTHING like the Civic. Though the Forte's headlight does have a hint of Civic's healight design it still has its differences alot infact.

@DtorBill You guys are both idiots. Hyundai never hired Mercedes-Benz engineers. And the Genesis doesnt use ANY Mitsubishi engine parts. Genesis 4.6 uses Hyundai's inhouse Tau V8. The Genesis Coupe uses a Hyundai G4KC V6. Hope you know most of Mitsubishi's engines are Hyundai's. Evo X uses Hyundai's Theta II engine block.

You do know they were partners at one point. So you think the Tau V8 is pathetic? How so because of its design? They have come along way and are on par with other rivals. Basically I dont bash things that are good no matter what I'm loyal to. Thing is people like him will never stop simply because they're a moron. But hey Japanese automakers went through the same criticism back in the day, so its just a matter of time.
