Michael Keaton's a marvelous talent. For me, his comic roles have been the most resonant - Night Shift, Mr. Mom & Beetlejuice; but also Batman. His performances have brought me much laughter and happiness. From this interview, he seems a very modest, genuine & authentic personality - brought up in Allegheny Co. PA with a need to seek something more exciting & fulfilling. I empathize with him, as I myself "escaped" a very small town in the Poconos to pursue a creative career.

Michael Keaton is a ridiculously underrated actor. Comedy is one of the hardest things to do on film and he pulled it off. He also proved his acting chops in films like Pacific Heights and then demonstrated he could be an action hero as well in the brilliant Tim Burton films (Christian Bale is a fine actor and a great Batman but does not register in comparison to Michael Keaton). The fact that he turned down a lot of money to be in Batman Forever speaks volumes about his integrity as an actor.

Well, i'm not sure as to why he turned down Batman Forever, but. There are rumors, one of the rumors are. That, the cast and script direction wasn't good enough to match his past film exposure.

In other words, people were saying that the script sucked and that Keaton didn't want anything to do with the script. I thought that the script was decent, but. I wasn't true to the original Batmans, only Burton could pull those off, but didn't return for this one and the newer pictures.

Consider movies like Beatlejuice, the first two Batman movies from the previous series (That Joel Schumacher messed up and essentially ruined), he also played WONDERFULLY in the comedy "MULTIPLICITY" , remember that movie???? He played 4 FOUR different guys in that movie lol. Remember Rico, and Lance two of the clones??LOL. ALL played my the same guy Michael Keaton. First thank u. Second yeah Burton's movies are dark. N I like them better than Nolan's. People may disagree. I guess I would like to see the dark art of Burton combined with action of Nolan's. I think that would be perfect. Just like I'd like Bale's very phyical Batman combined with Keaton's dark firm preasence. I think Bale makes a good Bruce Wayne. Ledger's portrayal of The Joker was brilliant but because he died before it was released it gave the role that extra push! it gave it that pedastool status! & fanboys just lap it up & probably grew up with the batman forver, batman & robin movie.

Ledger was just an average actor with the exception of The Joker being a role that took every ounce of his acting ability & energy to a several levels & in the end it took its toll & the role tragically killed him.
