THIS IS A TOTAL FARCE- not even close to the style taught. Why would anyone go through the trouble of faking with a poorly concocted video and a truly fumbling kata. Still photos of the real Funakoshi can easily verify this as well as the images are nothing close to the physical nature of film stock or cameras at the time.
heian and tekki is NOT aka!!!! its HUGE differense! while Heian Nidan is a beginner kata, Tekki Nidan is a much more advanced kata u go when u have reached the black belts! heian nidan is to the orange belt!
Great video. Shame there is no video of Funakoshi performing all three Tekki/Naihanchin/Naifuanchin kata together in their original form. The three shotokan forms were orginally one long kata divided for space and ease for learning.
@gaugustcrane You mentioned that Naihanchi was once one long kata, which was divided into 3. Seeing as how it was Anko Itosu who made the division in Naihanchi and several other kata, Funakoshi most likely learned it that way.

This Isn't Heian Nidan (AKA Tekki Nidan)
This Is NAIHANCHI NIDAN

Heian Nidan is not AKA Tekki Nidan.
Naihanchi = Tekki. Certain styles still refer to old kata in their chinese names. In Shotokan Naihanchi is known as Tekki.
