Looks cool, no it ain't as simple as a internal combustion engine car, but look, technology improves and the efficiency of electric motors coupled with electrical storage will eventually just make more sense than sparse fuel. Eventually, it will be superseded, or the fuel will just be pointlessly expensive. fuck bio diesel that's and even worse idea than fossil fuels.

Nice idea by peugeot and I'm all for innovation but I don't think there'll be a lot of uptake on the BB1. Very small engine (20hp when my 650cc motorbike produces 100hp) only 120 miles radius and considerable chargin time every few days.

As far as electric cars go, I like the Tesla better.

Electricity comes from power plants, probably coal, thats less efficiant than a petrol motor. So actually its worse for the environment until we figure out how to cleanly generate electricity.

uhm, ur very wrong. Even if the electricity is generated from coal it would be 3 times cleaner than a petrol engine because an electric motor is 80-95% efficient in contrast to a petrol engine with 30%. But off course electricity must come from renewable sources.

The electric motor is 80-95% effecient, but the power station is only 30-40% efficient, with losses in transmision and conversion to chemical potential (charging the battery) then losses to converting it back (running from the battery).

There are a heck of a lot more conversion steps.

Also if the majority of people in Australia demanded green energy your suppliers would simply not be able to keep up with demand because it simply cannot produce enougth of it. Green energy is not going to be our main fuel souce for some time untill technology improve. Nuclear power is the only real competitor to fossil fuels at present and it gives out much less Co2.

It dosent make any diffrence what we do in this tiny island in comparision to the Co2 let off by the majority polluting countries USA/China. We probably account for less that 5% of the worlds Co2.

Average cost of solar panels here in the UK are £8k for a family home meaning it will take 8-10 years for it to even break even.

Compare that with the life of the product and the need of a more than average sunny climate then you have a system which is not regulary available and expensive.

Not forgetting the above is for the amount of energy of a home. A car on the other hand will be more demanding and will require large amounts of energy daily for the population.
