It was devastating that the linesman didn't give what should have been a goal but England just weren't good enough to warrant a win. Germany dominated this game and it could've been much worse. What is up with the refs this World Cup??? First the US gets 2 goals disallowed, and they were close, those weren't 100% clear, like this goal. The ball clearly crosses the line. That's a goal.
The Wembley incident was completely different in that the ball hit right on the goal line. Therefore, whether it was a goal or not depended completely on the referees, and it was hard to argue against them. On the other hand, in this video, the ball crossed the goal line over 50cm, and there were no reasons to have the goal disallowed. It was a perfect goal, and I am stunned by the disability of the referees to make correct decisions. Oh, and by the way, I am neither English nor German.

This is EXACTLY why video replays should be allowed. there's all sorts of methods in cricket, hotspot, eagle eye, slow-mo replays... In rugby the ref asks the assistants if a try can be awarded, after they check replays. It's rediculous that in a world wide event, there's no way to rectify mistakes, or, plainly to ensure a correct result. Also, I believe had England had this confidence booster, they may have snatched a draw and gone to ET and pens, but when that's disallowed, it kills moral.

And what organisation is responsible for the fact that video judgement isn't allowed? It's the International Football Association Board (IFAB). Members? Four international FIFA members .... AND four members of the UK's football boards: FA, SFA, FAW and IFA. Six votes are required to carry any motion. Which means that agreement is needed by at least two of the UK members. But the UK members want to keep the game as they invented it in the 19th century as much as possible. Ironic, isn't it?

For example: Italy,.. okay they played bad and deserved to be thrown out, but against slovakia the refs disallowed a regular goal by Quagliarella (2-2)..there was no offside at all...

my opinion about the game: it was closer than it looked (one goal could have turned the game upside down - ye we all know which goal i'm talking about). but in those 90 minutes germany was clearly better and i think we all agree that the better team reached the next round.

FIFA should be embarassed, ashamed and disgusted of themselves to allow this to happen with the technology that is available that can avoid these incorrect decisions to be made. The supporters and sponsors who fund FIFA's multi million empire deserve a greater level of standard from referees and officials, regardless of which teams are playing. I believe that Germany played better than England, but England should have been awarded the goal and who knows what could have happened after that?

What is up with the refs this World Cup??? First the US gets 2 goals disallowed, and they were close, those weren't 100% clear, like this goal. The ball clearly crosses the line. That's a goal.

The Wembley incident was completely different in that the ball hit right on the goal line. Therefore, whether it was a goal or not depended completely on the referees, and it was hard to argue against them. On the other hand, in this video, the ball crossed the goal line over 50cm, and there were no reasons to have the goal disallowed. It was a perfect goal, and I am stunned by the disability of the referees to make correct decisions. Oh, and by the way, I am neither English nor German.

I'm a neutral fan between the two and I'll be the first to say that Germany deserve to win because they chewed that England defense up with those counters. I really think Ferdinand being out makes much more of an impact that Ballack being out for Germany because Muller is like Ribery last cup and Ozul is playing amazing. This is why they need to allow replays into the FIFA. It seems stupid to leave the game open to manipulation and chance when we could actualy know what the hell was going on. Damn reff needs to run faster >> He wasn't even with the goal I supose, so it gave him a bad line of sight to the ball- but if they allowed replays that wouldn't have been such a big issue... -rants-

This is EXACTLY why video replays should be allowed. there's all sorts of methods in cricket, hotspot, eagle eye, slow-mo replays... In rugby the ref asks the assistants if a try can be awarded, after they check replays. It's rediculous that in a world wide event, there's no way to rectify mistakes, or, plainly to ensure a correct result. Also, I believe had England had this confidence booster, they may have snatched a draw and gone to ET and pens, but when that's disallowed, it kills moral.

The replay shows it clearly goes over the line. I've seen comments from both German and England supporters and I've seen the German broadcast of the match. EVERYBODY agrees it was a goal. If the fortunes were flipped and it was the German's causing outrage - I'd agree with them by saying it was a goal.

For example: Italy,.. okay they played bad and deserved to be thrown out, but against slovakia the refs disallowed a regular goal by Quagliarella (2-2)..there was no offside at all...

Germany obviuosly paid the referees.. as a "revenge"...As long as Blatter and Beckenbauer have something to say within the FIFA there will always be those "mistakes".. a 2-2 could have changed everything, it was england's turning point and it has been manipulated... Hm it should've definitely been allowed. I know it's not of the same magnitude, but from an American fan's standpoint I know how you feel. This said, how would the score have turned out had it been tied 2-2 at halftime? England may have picked up their game to Germany's level. You just never know.
