either the cab is really well sound proofed, or the siren is really quiet. Some vehicles I've been in with the siren going, you have to scream to be heard.
@espphirephoto You have the same experience that I got from riding with emergency vehicles. Some of those I have been in, sounds like the siren is in the glovebox
Its common practice at our station. Basically, just because you have lights and sirens doesn't make you exempt from using turn signals, or stopping at red lights and driving like a maniac.
To answer questions: the flashing blue light is to let people know the area is being monitored by CCTV cameras (Allentown Police keep installing these thru the city thankfully). Also "fireboxes" we call "Knox Boxes" We have them in the city mostly at retail establishments. County Comm is the only ones that can release the code to let us get in the box and open up.
(We call em fireboxes... the lock boxes with keys or opening switches/clickers and the fire units have keys that open them...look like the round soda machine keys)
B/C 3 was first at the gate, but the gate didn't open with the sirens. He had Engine 9, the 2nd due engine try the gate on MLK and they got in and arrived first.
why he say he couldnt back up?

In my community they need to use YELP for a certain amount of time to get in.
That's why it wouldn't let them in, IMHO.

Some places, not only gates, but numerous speed bumps that slow the apparatus to a crawl.

I like how the driver signaled when he was turning....is this a protocol thing or is it more force of habit??

Sorry was battalion 3 first to the gate? is what I ment
playswithboobs 3 years ago
im not sure about this call but most of the time, the battalion beats the rigs to the fire, and this community is right between both stations.
