  • Scyllia man XD love her quick witted remarks also love that she doesn't care what anyone says about her, tbh i wished she had beaten messelina in the contest...Bitch

  • is the woman who plays Scylla the same woman who plays Eileen on Coronation street? She looks and sounds just like her!

  • She has nice titties

  • GOOD STORY AND MOVIE

  • a nick adams twin

  • What gets me about Messalina is that she had everything and couldn't keep her behavior in bounds.

  • Messalina, you goddamn whore...

  • It's a hoe down!

  • Scylla has class.

  • "there's no one that could compete with me!" Livia would whip your ass, whore!!

  • @clarkindee I don't believe Livia was ever famous for her prostitution skills. She was evil, but for a totally different reason. And I believe most of her reasons were sound. Messalina just enjoyed sex. Livia has even been described by some as frigid.

  • @JediNana2 Livia? Frigid? No...(sarcasm)

  • @JediNana2 okay when your MARRIED you should NOT be sleeping with anyone other then your husband or wife.that includes the emperor's wife.it's pretty clear that she wasn't ready for marriage and she really didn't have a choice.but that's still not a real reason to screw around in the end this little tramp got what she deserved.and that's her head going off.

  • @JediNana2

The problem being that all the contemporary historians all had an axe to grind. The ideal of scholarly / journalistic detachment did not exist 'mongst the chroniclers of the period/

  • Both Messelina and the whore are more wooden than a tree. Desparate acting for such a great program.

  • sexiest storyline eva!

  • british men are so savage that the women live in a permanent state of ecstasy? really? that had to have been a joke.

  • Messalina is a complete harlot

  • The sexual exploits of ancient Rome were magnificent!

  • Off with her head!

  • What a f***ed up "badge of honor". LMAO!

  • "You shouldn't hit my face. I am an actor."

  • damn we see messalina's bare breasts, buttocks, legs, and almost see her vulva like at 05:10.

  • @imperatorcaesar100

I remember catching a glimpse when it came out in 1976. Boobies! Mom and Dad packed me off to bed and wouldn't let me see anymore.

  • Before you start on this seried, please note that many (well most actually) of the segments are out-of-sync. Assuming you have the bandwidth. Open two browsers. Start the the episode in one of them with the sound off, then start the second one and play with them until the sound matches the picture. After a while you'll get the hang of it. This series is definately worth watching. Enjoy.

  • You shouldn't feel bad for Claudius, at the end Messalina was executed and Claudius became one of the best Roman Emperors in history. Like Vespasian,Titus, Pio Antoninus, Marcus Aurelius, luicius Vero.

  • Ahhhhh! A battle of sluts!

  • As Scylla makes clear, she's a professional, Messalina is a slut.

Pretty shameless, that she doesn't mind a prostitute looking down on her and basically calling her trash.

  • Not only that, but she lowers herself to sleep with stage actors, who were considered even lower in status in Rome than street crackwhores or washed hobos nowadays. In Rome it was considered better to be a slave than an entertainer.

  • "The Guild of Prostitutes"? If they had stuff like that in WoW i would play more often.

Tanks for uploading, btw. I see this as a chronological successor to "Rome", although those two series are radically different. But it's a fun thought to think, that Rome's skinny, pale, cold Augustus evolves into ... BRIAN BLESSED.

  • LOL! ...That's true!

  • Does anyone else think the series has been cleaned up from original broadcasts? Weren't the sexual elements much stronger- Particularly the competition scene here- which, i believe was more detailed and with lots of raunchy dialogue. Whereas here they leave the proceedings to the imagination. It was a long time ago and I was about 14, so memory may not be so reliable.

  • No. What's happened is that the vulgarization of all things, the race to the bottom, has proceeded at such a pace that this now seems cleaner than it did at the time.

  • @keltyk

I was eleven. Mom and Dad packed me off to bed when this thing came on back in the day. I recall catching a glimpse of the T&A. Boobies! I still can't figure out how this was allowed.

  • "My hobby happens to be gardening..."

  • lol yeah i think she should take up gardening.

  • Messalina's been plowed enough.

  • The prostitute Scylla's hairdo is an exact copy of a female portrait bust from the earlier republican era.

  • Oh, Zeusbark

I highly recommend two things 1-read PERSIAN FIRE and 2-don't make any comments about the movie 300 Youtube.

I, Claudius and Rome-the series-are valiant attempts at recreating history as accurately as possible.

i'm afraid that is not the case with Frank Miller's farce.

  • You welcome

  • You mean the Spartans didnt rush into battle bear chested in bodybuilding trunks with onlt their 6 pack abs to protect them?

Im calling bullshit on you LOL!

  • You forgot the Speedos.

  • The Spartans at the battle of Thermopylae were 150 homosexual couples. starting with Leonidas and his gay lover Epaminondas. It was nothing wrong with homosexuality between them. Even Socrates practiced homosexuality.

  • I agree. The original movie "The 300 Spartans" (1962) is better than Frank Miller's homoerotic live action comic book.

  • @woodbinedrinker But in reality Leonidas was a homosexual, his partner was the general Epaminondas and they choose 150 couples of homosexuals to defend the thermophiles pass. Homosexuality was not an aberration for the Greeks. Socrates was a homosexual too.

  • Ummm... No.

  • Zeusbark

I just started watching the Rome series.

Chronologically, it immediately predates this series-funny that.

I remember my parents watching THIS series int he 70's-I liked it but, I was 14 and anything my pareents liked...

    Thank you for your contribution.

  • I thank-you for this series as I haven't seen it since I was 24, but I never felt bad for Claudius, then or now, he is a coward, he is blind to evil women, and if he is not a "half-wit", he deserves all he gets. but THANKS.

  • I was nine.

    And I loved this series.

I dont think hes a coward.Hes indifferent to an evil society and burdened by the crass materialistic interests of others when success is flung upon him.

Evil woman are predators and its hard to be on your toes all the time without feeling contempt for all women.

  • Trust me, that goes both ways. I think this series is evidence enough that there are plenty of evil examples of both genders.

  • I couldnt possibly argue with that. Its true.

  • I was ten.

And mom and dad always packed me off to bed whenever this came on.

    Boobies!

  • @locheelad2

The real Claudius was not the dear sweet old fart that Derek Jacobi plays here. He was as much a killer as his uncle and his cousin.

  • The best prostitute speech ever!

  • @nolaughingmatter

I've read about such events in the real world. In reality such contests are stomach-turning. Better to watch cattle being slaughtered.

  • There were only 12 episodes? Ughhh. I love this program...we need more like it. I wish they do the second book from Robert Graves.

  • This series includes the 2 books in these 12 episodes, you've obviously haven't read the books. Sorry to disapoint you, but this is all there is.

  • That bitch!

  • And it's TRUE :)

  • Mnester is hot, he deserves better than a scheming hussy like Messalina.

  • What a stupid&contemptible comment-Greece has been in decline culturally &spiritually since the days of Soctrates/Aristotle et al-as vindicated by utterances such as this!!

  • Trouble with the comments disappearing after enough negative marks for it is that you can't read them and match them up with the response. Sometimes the stupidest comments are the funniest to read, especially if someone has already remarked how ridiculous it is.

  • It is funny a Brit production slipping that in there when Brits are not considered remarkable there. What is funnier still is your comment in comparison of all people - the Greeks.

  • LOL!!!!

And yet AGAIN we see English nationalism in this show. The men of Briton keep their women in a permanent state of ecstasy!

    Too funny!

  • way to look for nationalism where there isn't any, grasping at straws much?

  • You apparantly haven't watched this show much.

Busting on Germans as barbarians...callling India a bargain...English machism...

But being in denial is natural and understandable.

  • I'll buy a ticket to that show!

  • Lol, you guys are jokers

  • 1:35 lovely jubbly! >:)

  • 1:35 JUST 1:35!
