Malik flow is so ill. He always reminded of a N.Y.C rapper. He is an amazing M.C. his flow just rides the beat. Freeway reminds me of a younger version of Malik B.
one of my favorite tracks right here, malik kills it, black thought kills it even more, and the production is so damn solid and melodic on this track. one of the best albums right here
simply the best music, lyrics, flow, message, every small piece of this song is put together so well, its very clear to me that people dont hear this music enough because half of the so called hip hop that is being put out now would not be in circulation
i saw these guys live @jazz cafe in camden, london like 97. Knew before I went that they were taking hip hopto a next level.Yeah we make the best beats, yeah we write the tighests deepest lyrics, and now we got live musicians smashing it. What you got left to bring it on? We got everything you wanted from a track and did it better. Drop this and school them fools on what music should sound like. Raw talent, raw skills, raw/ roar. Aint an MC on the scene with a producer that comes close...
"On a lyrical Nat Turner mission/reacting off of intuition/continuously alert, no intermission/if your ears hurt you shouldn't listen/that means you artificial/and my style will poison your brain tissue" .....
Gawd damn! The wordplay alone is crazy on those bars! This was the first album that I got that wasn't a cassette, still in good condition, still got the CD jewel case, I remember going to Nobody Beats The Wiz on Fordham Rd in the BX in '96 to get this album.
You know it used to bother me how this doesn't get the plays it deserves, while everyone views the top billboard songs. That's what I used to think, but not anymore. There are too many idiots in the world who don't deserve to know about this music, let alone play it. This is music for the ninjas who would creep up on those fools and slit their throats before they knew they were being targeted.
I honestly have to say that this is my favorite overall song EVER!!!...Black Thought's lyricism and flow are just rediculous...and on a side note, my top 5 LYRICISTS of all time in no particular order are
Top ten album ever for me. I'm pretty sure this was the album that made me really start believing this was one of the best groups in hip-hop. And Thought absolutely slaughters every song. Every one.
real talk I'm trying not to let this water fall down my face ...this fine moment of hip-hop well never be again but thanks for posting this" hair balls "...lol.....we gotta keep hip-hop alive.
Not me --This is an answer i received pertaining to this song-lol
What can I say... except there is nothing good to say about it. It is not particularly creative... a basic pulse beat and some guy rhyming over the top. Heard one of these things... you've heard them all. There is no melody, just a constant bass rhythm and close to unintelligible vocals. It barely qualifies as music.
There is no skill putting this formulaic stuff together.
The lyrics - well most of it is meaningless claptrap.
@Sicklysamantha Man that was not me saying that, it was an answer i received from yahoo answers About this song. But i guess we got to respect ever ones music even the skreeemo XD
@electronicchronic People are walking blind man, the guy just described most of the elements of modern day 'shit hop' or shit pop, whatever it has mutated to, and he doesnt even know it...
The roots are untouchable....this is possibly the nastiest display of lyrical prowess imaginable. The 90's was hands down the best era of hip hop. There will never be an equal.
man this is one of the hardest instrumentals litterally instrumental cause their all instrumentalist, and raps that has ever been recorded. the beat though is what i tihnk kills the whole track as one, its so heavy dark but still real. big ups to Roots Crew
@rydrin Common - I used to love H.E.R. listen to each word bro, and when you hear the final punchline, rewind and play it again, and again, and again, and again, and...
@rydrin your welcome bro. hey i just checked out that writers block track on your page... and immediately added it to my playlist on spotify. so thank you too!
This song is beyond incredible. Malik and Riq show why Philly has some of the illest niggas to be pushed into existence. 2nd verse is poetry in motion!!! "vit-al lyric-al science"
