Hey basementbarber, on on the right side of my head, even after I shower and dry my head off, I have this line of hair that loves to stand up. Can't get it to lay flat no matter what. My father cuts my hair and gives me just a straight buzz cut on the longest clipper, 1". Any tips? We have the Wahl cutter that has the taper attachment, but i'm not sure how to use it. Hey Basementbarber, I have a Wahl clipper home product instead of a Andis clipper. I have a question, What clipper guide should I use when cutting the top? I want to cut it so it will give it sort of a flat on the top --- no not a flat top but I don't want the hair standing up. Also, what clipper do you suggest when doing a fade? Btw, I am learning how to cut my own hair.

@REDSCOUT3 I would use a number 3 clipper attachment and go against the grain of the hair down the center, that should get it how you like. I use the Wahl Senior clipper it's good for all haircuts and ethnic types. Thanks for watching the video and let me know if i can help.

@NotoriousVick Ask for a mid to medium fade. A #4 On top won't look bad if you don't go too short on the sides.

in the UK we call that a short back and sides 4 and a 1, when i do it i always start from the top down, makes it quicker and makes it easy to blend the weight line out takes about ten mins or so

I used to work in a city center barbers and there we had more time for clients but we charged a lot more. Nice VT tho interesting to watch other other people

@Hardaway89 You must blend with the clipper over comb technique that is the easiest way to fade.. you can use clips and go from a 000 on bottom to a #2 on top that would be a good way to do it to.

It was a number 2 on the sides blended to a 1/2 inch on top taper on the bottom. So like 1/2 on the bottom blended to a #2 then blend to a half inch on top with scissors

The difference between a fade and a taper is just how high u go on the head. And any race or ethnicity, I don't discriminate, I cut everyones hair.

@eyewallo3 those are popular for mexican and black more,, but of course anyone looks fresh with one, a taper is when they cut the side on top of the side burns, and on the back they cut the low bottom. on a fade they go higher, so its more bald.
