  • This makes everything ok.

  • This is sweet!

  • the arrangement is by oliver nelson!!!

  • This track was used in The Color Of Money.

  • Thanks Lalo Shifrin!

  • This is an outstanding song, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't brought here because of the film Casino.

  • My mother had this album. I remember playing it as loud as I could on her Magnavox stereo (when she wasn't home of course). It was the first time I heard the organ played in a manner other than church music. Thanx for the memories!!

  • @bijouxlific Check out "Summertime" by Chris Columbo.

  • AMEN,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • Back when I was a dart shark and this song came on, my opponents had no clue what hit them. The meathead frat boys would get slammed by the little girl wearing a suit.

  • One of the greatest big band arrangements of all time. You hear Elmer Bernstein in the song, but Jimmy made it all his own.

  • 4:50!!! the part where Nicky(Joe Pesci) walked in on that bitch and let her have it!!!

  • I almost wore out the albun"The Incredible".This music has been with me in deep work in NYC-NJ before action;and all over the world.I got back to states to learn Mr. Smith had passed away. This is GREAT music;how many jazz pieces begin with sleigh Christmas bells? How many have sustained riffs like 3:45-4:08 with the SAME note and get away with it?InSANEly good.Worked with Mr Smith some in the 90s it was a dream come true, the man was and is a legend.

  • thumbs up if the film of Casino brought you here? It happeened to me!

  • I had this album when I was 17. I wore it out. I just played this album over and over. Almost missed the Beatles and the Beach Boys cause of this guy. i was seriously addicted to Jimmy Smith!

  • A true big band classic. Thank you emmettk for stating that arrangement is by Oliver Nelson.

  • JImmy Smith was my dad's favorite jazz man and I grew up loving this one in particular. Played it to death (along with 13 (Death March) with Wes Montgomery). Great big band arrangement by Oliver Nelson on both.

  • Great tune!

Now, I've seen the movie, and I don't recall homosexuality being the central theme. A guy is searching for his lost love, who has become a prostitute at a cathouse in New Orleans. The band in the brothel played this tune, and it was repeated throughout the score. Maybe there are two movies that used this.

  • @BassnGuitarMan

Wasn't there some implied lesbian love interest between Barbara Stanwick and Cappuchine?

  • @BassnGuitarMan many movies have used this.

    The color of money

    Casino

and a few others I can't remember the names of.

  • perfect x

  • "We got a problem, the case revealed everything about our finances.... that's.... that's not good"

  • Who ever told me this song dealt with the gay lifestyle thanks didn't know I just appreciated the music.

  • totally awesome man and song.....

  • The track starts slow and then builds up to a sensational climax

to the point that you wish they could have played another 3-4 min.

Superb arrangement by Oliver Nelson. First rate tune.

  • the lama-worms drumming is awesome

  • Eccellente! Degno della musica! Bravo!

  • Peter Gunn theme was Henry Mancini, if memory serves. Thanks for this Jimmy Smith recording, been looking for many years for it. Superior to the soundtrack version which is pretty damn good!

  • Jimmy Smith-King of the Hammond. Wonderful track. Ive always loved it........

  • Reminiscent of New York, maybe--but to me, this tune has San Francisco written all over it. Brilliant.

  • Rob Dog wasn't this used as the music for the detective show Peter Gunn in the 50's?????? just curious.

  • @dal4018 This song was from the movie of the same name. I'm

guessing it was late 50's or early 60's. The movie was concidered

quite risque`. It dealt with homosexuality which was extremely

taboo at that time. Hence, the "wild side".

  • @droolingdogs Thanks I didn't know the history behind this song.

  • @RobDog65 I can hear both New York and California on this track; to me, it's also reminiscent of a bit of the Gerald Wilson sound and the distinctive "spatial separation" of the instrument sections that often defined recordings coming out of the Pacific Jazz label.

  • Some people say that Midnight Special is his finest hit but I have to disagree this is the one!!!!!!! GO JIMMY MILES DAVIS WAS RIGHT YOU ARE THE 8TH WONDER OF THE WORLD

  • THANK YOU ! One of my all-time favorites. What a massive arrangement ! Powerful.

  • Great organ but what about the drummer !!

  • This track was in the movie, "The Colour Of Money" and I've been trying to find it for years :),

Thank you for uploading this, top rating always and added to faves :)

  • One of my all time favorites. The Incredible Jimmy Smith.

  • One of the first 45's I ever had,It was on Verve Records.Great arrangement by Oliver Nelson.Alfred Lions Of Bluenote Records said it was one of the saddest days of his life when he lost Jimmy to Verve Records.

  • Now he knew what Ahmet Ehrugen had to deal with when Ray Charles left Atlantic and signed with ABC Paramount

  • Arranged by Oliver Nelson....superb!

  • This reminds me of New York City!! I love this tune alot!!

  • Superb Upload - Great tune
