  • @RealLife0823 lol at smoking things in a 98 sl1

  • my Hyundai Elantra has 200,000 plus miles and runs way better then any shitty saturn plastic pos are I've ever driven, most cars can last along time as long as you take care of it and don't drive like a jackass

  • you sound like randal from clerks

  • @RealLife0823 Nice! My water pump started leaking at 220,000 miles, and when they did that I had them do the tensioner, because it would start to squeal when I had the A/C on. I was told the timing chain lasts the life of the car, and I've heard of people replacing theirs at well over 400,000 miles, and there was still plenty of life left on it.... so you may want to reconsider that, unless of course you can do it yourself for cheap! :)

  • Hyundai had alot of transmission problems.

  • The Hyundai's are better cars! My 2001 Sonata v-6 has over 188,000 miles and the only thing I have ever done to the car, besides mantience, is change the serpentine belt! One great car! Definitely got my moneys worth!

  • lol i hate hyundai

i hope my saturn makes it to tht many miles lol i got the ion redline

  • That hyundai engine should be covered under warranty unless the owner abused the car. I have the same car, 2001 Hyundai Elantra. The same original engine now has over 132 k miles and it is still going strong like new. I am still getting 33 mph on highway, honest. My question to this dude is, why do you think Saturn is now out of business? Also, you can swap the engine with an used one. There are many good used Elantra engines out there. I guess it is always easy to blame the car company.

  • @bsp1148 No matter how you drive it, a car should not blow up at 32,000 miles. We've bought a few cars from Saturn, it was the best car buying experience we've ever had. They took my mother's piece of crap Beetle for a trade in and gave her $18,000 without even starting the engine. (The fuel pump went at 13,000 miles) I recently bought a Toyota Venza for my wife, and the car is amazing, but dealing with the weasles at the dealer and all of their BS took 4 hours! They diagnosed cars for free 2!

  • @Geoff12052 You had a blown up gasket and they have said $4500 to fix it? First of all, you can get a brand new long block for less than $3K. Even better you can buy a decent reliable Elantra engine under 40k miles for less that 1K. Now, I don't know how you've got your warranty voided but you are not telling the full story here. Hyundai honors the powertrain warranty up to 100k miles or 10 years whichever comes first. If the rest of car is fine, I will swap the engine out.

  • correction: you've said $5400 but I think you are inflating the cost. A blown up engine isn't the end of world and you can get your Elantra rolling again without costing you a fortune.

  • @bsp1148 They said it needed a new engine, intake manifold, and radiator.

  • @bsp1148 The car got towed away years ago... it was my brother in law's car. He bought it used with 30,000 miles. At 32,000, he heard a pop on the highway and it broke down. Towed it to two different Hyundai dealers who both told him the same story."blown head gasket, not a warranty issue" Then it sat in the yard for 3 years till we gave it away for parts. (bank stopped taking payments, but they still had the title) He was young and didn't have $ for another engine. That's the whole story! :)

  • shit, I thought you were gunna race hahaha. But yea Saturn>Hyundai

  • Comment removed

  • At 30,000 miles, you should be able to put the RPM's wherever you want without the car literally blowing itself up on you. And it was my brother-in-law's car, not mine. The thing was given away for parts a few months after this video was put up.

  • my hyundai runs great same year 2002, 193,000 miles, i dont leave the rpms up so high like you probably did, cant believe you ruined such a good car

  • The reason the headgasket blew was most likely because the thermostat failed and the car was still being driven, overheated and blew the head gasket. That's probably why they wouldn't warranty it. I don't agree with that decision though. They should have installed a replacement engine as a "good will" For the most part with basic maintance the Elantra is a bullet proof car.

  • im gonna miss saturn

  • the saturn sl1 were relativly good cars but these elantras too mines a 2002 with 180k km and she still run like a new car

  • well i have a 94 saturn sl1 and its the shit and it has a lot of mile the odometer broke:(

  • i have 300000 on my saturn sc2. never misses a beat 40 mpg uses no oil. orig. motor. only thing i did was replace clutch at a quarter million miles. handles like new.

  • A) sl1's are deffinately in the top 10 for top worst cars ever made and they are still making hyundai elantras... if sl1s are so good why dont they still make those shit boxs im real happy with my hyundai

  • @swandog21 Not sure. Basically I'm comparing these 2 cars, not every Saturn and Hyundai out there. My old Saturn, (with 255,000 miles, and still running by the way) never had a single problem with the engine, and this particular Hyundai blew up at 32,000 miles with ZERO warranty coverage. (and yes all the maint. were done, oil changes, etc)

  • @Geoff12052 well i get what your saying but hyundai is making quality cars now and my 96 elantra runs like the balls

  • @swandog21 I'm sorry but that's a horrible argument...Ferrari no longer makes the F40 and F50, that must mean they're horrible right? Toyota no longer makes the supra, Mazda no longer makes the RX7, Mitsubishi no longer makes the 3000gt, Buick no longer makes the Grand National, Chevrolet no longer makes the Chevelle....and we all know those cars are shit boxs....right?

  • @WhatAFluke im not tryna fight bro both cars are shit boxes i was just trying to say not all hyundia's are shit because mines been more than reliable ya kno

  • @swandog21 okay fair enough....i'm not bashing either car, just know that saturn in its early years were respectable cars as well and definitely not on the top ten worst cars, in fact it was the complete opposite and happened to be at the top of the "econosport"classes. It offered very good competition to the civic. I actually have an old 93 saturn sl2 that i use as my beater/everyday car and it's been quite reliable(have an 87 grand national sitting in the garage). Hope the hyundai keeps up!

  • @WhatAFluke yeah i dont really care bout hyundai's or saturns ya kno im not lookin for a fight im sellin my elantra so sick of it and i just am not a fan of saturns not tryna argue i just wouldnt give a saturn a chance because ive always hated um lol

  • hyundais are nice looking cars, but shit quality and perfermance, korean pos. now on the other hand, jap makes some reliable cars.

  • @MrRichierich1990 I agree... my wife had a 2000 Toyota Camry with 188,000 miles and it looks and ran like new! We just got her into a 2010 Toyota Venza and it's awesome! :)

  • @MrRichierich1990 That is what they said about Japanese cars.

  • My elantra has 130,765 miles on it and i beat the hell out of it, its going strong.

  • Comment removed

  • hell yeah!! i have a 1994 saturn just like that with 224,xxx miles. runs great. :)

  • its a hyndai

thats why everyone makes fun of them.

theyre made by little commi kids in a gook sweatshop.

  • why didnt you set it on fire in the dealers lot and collect the insurance??

  • @beachbummm69 and yes I have both a HYDEEK and A Saturd and both have been good to me so far..but I dont expect any 4 cly motor to last over 100,000 miles anyway

  • @beachbummm69 y, shit loads of 4 cylinder motors go well over 100,000 miles.

  • @beachbummm69 and yes I have both a HYDEEK and A Saturd and both have been good to me so far..but I dont expect any 4 cly motor to last over 100,000 miles anyway

  • @beachbummm69 I should have!

  • Shit. And I OWN an Elantra...

  • It only costs like $1000 max to get a new gasket for that car, and it takes only a few hours to fix it.

  • They said it needed an engine, intake manifold, a radiator, and who knows what else.

  • find me one that is n/a reaching 7 seconds 0-60.

  • the elantra will never hit 7 seconds 0-60...

  • My saturn has 235k mile on it, still can do 0-60 in 7 seconds.

  • this just proves that saturn was probably the greatest brand weve ever had. thanks for canning them GMC, thanks a whole fuckin lot

  • @whatthegood1 Good job.

It was GM that cut it off. GMC is a truck brand.

Good to know you know your GM's before you say stuff like that.

  • oh whatever. its still part of the same company. at least saturn didnt rely on outsourcing XP

  • i got 210000 thousand on my hyundia elantra andnever had to do any maintaince on it beside oil you must of got one that was built on fri or just abused it

  • holy **** 5400 for a head gasket repair!!!! buy it bring the car too me and youll be dirving it away inna day

  • Not just for the head gasket repair, but for a brand new engine and intake manifold, so they said.

  • more then likely its just the head gasket shops try and rip ppl off get the keys put in new gas and try and start it if its got white smoke its the head gasket

  • Tenesse vs. Alabama.

  • I really don't reply on YT that often but it sounds like you gave up too soon. You should've talked to the regenial service manager, Hyundai Motor America and the BBB to file a conplant. Plus read the warranty carefully to see if this type of problem is covered. I understand your point but this is the dealer's fault more so then Hyundai's. I bet the dealers didn't even go beyond their own staff.

  • a storing car, lol

  • I own a 94 SL1 clutch, with 175,000 miles on it, and a 97 SL1 auto with 141,000 on it, and love both of them, cheap on the inside yes, but run great and cheap to work on so Ill buy more as I need them. Penske wouldnt have bought Saturn company if they sucked, imo.

  • i agree that pre 2000 Saturns were awesome tho they did tend to have a few lemons mixed in. however, it seems to me that newer saturns are not living up to their older counterparts

  • yea i got a 200 saturn sl1 with 35k miles on it, my first car i love it lol

  • I got a Sl2 with half a million miles on it, I'm going for the big 1000000.

  • Saturn sl ftw.

  • How in the hell do you blow an engine??

  • Again, the HYUNDAI with the BLOWN ENGINE is not mine. It was my brother-in-law's. His mother was driving it at the time. She says "I was on the highway and I heard a POP from under the hood, then it died."

  • If YOU were paying attention, I was not pretaning to "You". and that does not sound right, all of a sudden the egine blows with only 30,00 miles and only 3 yrs old. Dont blame Hyundai because YOUR BROTHER IN LAW can't take care of a car. And before you saysomething smart, Im a PROUD Hyundai/KIA owner, I drive a 2004 Kia Optima LX which is based on the Hyundai Sonata, and my car has 87,587 MILES! Explain That!!!!

  • You said "you". Geoff12052 is "me". I don't know if Sal has a youtube account. And you're right, it doesn't sound right to blow an engine. I have heard of Hyundai's and Kia's with well over 200,000 miles. And I've heard of Saturns blowing up under 65,000. The resale value of Kia's and Hyundai's are very low. I've had nothing but horrible experiences with them.

  • OH YES, and I'm mostly blaming wonderful HYUNDAI for NOT honoring their warranty. The dealer said a used car would have half the original warranty, so 5 years/50,000 miles. When we towed the car to 2 different dealers when it was 3 years old with 30,000 miles, they BOTH said "sorry it's not a warranty issue. " THAT is why I am upset with Hyundai. Can you blame me? This kid has a $13,000 loan on a car that sat in the back yard for 3 years needing an engine!

  • I understand where your comming from but like I said, It is not HYUNDAIS fault, it is your BROTHER IN LAWS fault!! He should have TAKEN CARE of the car!! The warantee covers everything but BLOWN ENGINE! And why dont you see the car on Ebay Motors, Im sure youll get something fo it. As for th Saturn, I never owned a Saturn but I like the Aura

  • He gave the Hyundai away a couple years ago. The Aura is nice; I have a 2005 L-300 V6. Nicer looking if you ask me, too bad they stopped making them in 2005.

  • I agree, I like the L series but I wish they would have put a traditional steering wheel on it

  • I like Hyundais to, but I also like my sl2.

  • hahha coool video hahh and funny I have a Saturn sc 98 and work very good very reliable

  • I think that generation saturn SL is a good car. I also think that hyundai makes great vehicles. but needing a head gasket at that low mileage is odd. did you ever overheat it? that could sure cause a premature head gasket failure. also, i think that price the dealer gave u was too high.

  • Don't buy a Saturn or Hyundai. Buy BMW, Audi, Volvo... :P

  • the only car after a Saturn will be a Porsche cause BMW, MERCEDES, VOLVO, JAGUAR is just luxury and thse car are heavy if u want speed buy a Porsche or Corvette just speed

  • Why would you waist money for Just A Name when you can get the SAME EXACT tirm and features FOR LESS???

  • i have a saturn it sucks

  • that's bull dude i have a 01 Hyundai and it hasn't given me any prb at all and i drive the car hard and its still runs like a baby after 126,253 it all depends on how the original owner treated the car and if all oils and fluides are up 2 date ....

  • needed new engine in 2001 elantra tow with it like mad gunna need new tranny or something shifting is loose and shitty

  • THANK YOU! I have a 04 Kia with 87,587 and it runs better than most 08 and 09 cars!!!

  • my hyundai's last me forever i have a 02 elantra i have had crap saturns. Whoever drove that car obviously beat the hell out of it or you guys got a bad car. Dont trash hyundais cuz u got one bad car. i had an 01 saturn a few years ago talk about problem after problem

  • I'm glad you enjoy your Saturn, but they have issues too!

  • DONT LISTEN TO THIS GUY i have the exact opposit problem, i have a peice of crap saturn witha blown motor in my drive way with 110 000 miles on it and had to finance a new honda, saturns are hit and miss ive talked to a lot of personal owners and theyvee al l had major problems,,, fuk i hate saturns

  • Saturn is the best!

  • i have a car just like this except it's the mauv one and i love it. over 250000 miles and runs like a charm. although i do need new tires. haha

  • Also, did he try to tell any other dealer about the problem? I don't know of any part of the fine print that says that these kind of problems would not be covered. If I'm right about this he should of called the Better Business Burea.

  • At the time, the kid had very little money so after towing it to the 2 different dealers with no luck, he gave up. I think his mother notified the BBB.

  • One car does not determine how well the others are built. I'm sure there are Saturn SL1s that have had fatal problems at 32k miles or less. This is why when you go on epinions you see people who love their car and then others with the same type and the same year hate theirs because it crapped out on them. Also, experience varies from dealer to dealer. I haven't heard a problem like this at our local Hyundai or Saturn dealer. Both appear to be willing to honor the warranty.

  • Youve made me love my Saturn SL1 just that much more! lol

  • yeah buy a honda they are the best

  • I have my saturn. My brother-in-law...the one with the Hyundai that blew up after 32,000 miles, got a 2007 Dodge Caliber to replace it. CVT tranny... pretty cool and good power.

  • If it blew up after 32000 miles then he didn't know how to drive for shit.

  • hyndai's are good cars just don't be a fucking dipshit with them and you'll be fine.

  • Who's being a dipshit? All routine maintence done with 32,000 miles and she's toast! Show me a 5+ year old Hyundai with no dimples and dents all over the doors. It's like they're made with aluminum foil! I push my Saturn pretty hard when I tow 2 full size ATV's with it, and after 251,000 miles she hadn't broken down yet!

  • my mother and bro have elentra's and they haven't had a single problem with them. There good cars but don't do stupid shit with them.

  • You mean "they're" good cars. And like I just said, it WAS taken care of.

  • You must have gotten fucked by your dealer then.

  • Big time...2 different dealers actually. One dealer actually used the words "paper weight" to describe the car. After a few months the bank stopped taking payments out of his acct for the car, but they had the title....so it sat in the back yard for 3 years then I gave it away for free on Craigslist because I was sick of looking at it. 32k on it so maybe someone can use the tranny, or the lights, etc.

  • Someone obviously knew the engine was bad and sold it to you. Eventually it happens to everyone. You get fucked by a dealer eventually. Yesturday I put a deposit on a car and went to pick it up today and they fuckin sold it from underneath me. So I bought a Hyundai Elantra today. I have had very good long lasting Hyundai cars before. But bad luck with Saturns! Make sure you get a carfax on a car and get it checked by a mechanic before you buy. Sorry you got one bad car don't mean they're all bad

  • My girlfriend drives a 2002 Elantra with 122000 miles and it still runs like new. With the manual trans, it is a pretty fun car to drive around and it gets close to 40 mpg.

  • did you use a Sony Cybershot to make this video?

  • Yes I did.

  • cool, I use a Cybershot too (it's a DSC-S500)

I don't like Hyundais that much

  • HAHAHAHAHA! SATURN POWER!!!

    HAHAHAHAHAHA

    SL-1's ALL THE WAY MAN!

    .......QUACK!

  • ahh somebody must have really taxed that hyundai. Cause hyundais are pretty solid.

  • AHEM....Check my other videos to see my 1995 Saturn SL1 rolling over 250,000 miles on it's original engine! woohoo! :)

  • the hyundai was a lemon it seems. one of my cars is an elantra and its doing 400,000miles with original tranny and motor. Saturns are worse than hyundai/kia regardless what video is posted on youtube. sales and recognition speak for themselves and Saturn doesn't make cars, its just a marketing brand to recruit OPEL's from Europe into North America because cars like yours nearlly brought Saturn down just like oldsmobile, saturn should be next!

  • hi, ill buy ur hyundai because im a mechanic and i could fix it for about $50!!??

  • We gave the Hyundai away last year.

  • same car same story about the same amount of miles 245,000 miles runs great i wont pass you on the road but ill pass you at the pump

  • Yeah you've got alot of miles out of your saturn

    I've got a 96 SL1 with 126,000 and I've had 2 get a new transmission for it

    But it still runs Great!

    No problems!

  • Hi,

I read your comment about having to get a new Transmission for your SL1. Are you sure you needed it? My mom has a 97 SL1 with over 150,000 miles on it. At about 75,000 miles - she began having transmission issues (Not shifting correctly). She took it to a Transmission specialist here locally. He checked it out, put it on the computer, and told her she needed a new tranny. She couldn't afford it at the time. I checked the fluids/filter, and the problem was the cheap filter had failed.

  • They lie about that kind of stuff so you replace it and they make more money that way

Thats why I don't bring my car into shops very often.

  • Yes I'm sure it needed a new tranny. The diff pin was working it's way out after 206,000 miles. The fluid leaked on the ground due to the pin cracking the case, and there were metal shavings in the fluid. (it was a 5-speed tranny). This was confirmed when I saw the old tranny they took out of my car.

  • That saturn has lasted you a while dude. I have a 92' SL and it's been through 3 engines, and a transmission, and everything else in it is basically new. I got about 10,000 in it. I luv my Saturn that much :-)

  • Hyundai sucks!!!!...X-( i cant stand em!!! i totaly Agree dude!!!

  • I disagree I have a hyundai and it still runs great and has beat a mitsubishi 3000GT so yea. I love my Hyundai.

  • a 3000gt...not a VR$, twin turbo....

  • I own Both: 95 Saturn SW, 100k miles

2003 Hyundai elantra hatch GT, its been great to me as good as the saturn

But I have more fun driving my saturn wagon

  • 5400 dollars.. goddamn dude.. id fix that bitch for a 100 dollars for you dude lmao
