AWWWWW THAT'S MY SHOT RIGHT THERE! This song is what, 30 years old, yet I still go nuts hearing it. Kraftwerk's music has been sampled so many times to the point there's a new generation that don't even know where it came from. Thanks for posting this.
@AORCrazy I can't stop giggling. Seriously. I've been going on for probably 15 minutes here. EBM the origin and true electronic music? You should quit your day-job and take that shit on the road. Maybe you could do a routine about how WASP is the origin of rock'n'roll?
DOES ANYONE KNOW A TUNE 80'S ELECTRO FUNK WITH THE MUSIC SAMPLE AS THIS,,, AND THERE WAS ALIKE A COOL ROBOT RAPPING VOICE OVER IT...... "TAKE YOUR RECORDS STORES AND 89 THE ALBUM TECHNO POWER" ????
what a haunting little melody that runs through the song, after 31 years it is still the fat, love listening to it in the pitch dark ,stoned as a maggot, fully turned up.
my mama bought me the exact lp u see right above this off the strength of the "numbers" song...when i got home and listen to the whole thing i wuz buggin. this wuz the last song on the b-side.
I remember in my 5th grade class (way back in 1985), my teacher, who was a bit of a futurist, played bits of "Pocket Calculator", as well as this track, saying that the music was made entirely with computers. Not only did it blow my 1985 mind, but it gave me an instant interest in computers, futurism, and what would eventually evolve into Industrial/EBM. I shortly after discovered the likes of Skinny Puppy. I've loved electronic music and its hybrids ever since!
Oh please, call it techno pop, electro, whatever, i listen electronic music for years, from Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream to Human League, Clock DVA etc. Techno IS NOT electronic music, it's turning those damn vinyls, can't believe they call it art!?
Do you REALLY dont know the diference between producing electronic music and replaying it from vinyls? I can assure you that Kraftwerk classics was played on hundreds parties hundred times and yes, from vinyls.....
And if Techno is not an electronic music, can you explain to us how they make it? Guitars? piano and wooden sticks maybe?
@MoochBootch Listen m8, i REALLY know how techno is made, and i don't wan't to explain to you anything. Techno, including rave movement abominated the whole electronic scene. And i don't care what others say. I don't like those damn DJ's. For me this is electronic music and artists like Adi Newton/Martyn Ware/Conrad Plank etc. have you heard of them? If you did you wouldn't be talking like this. Go and listen to your boring repetitive kick drum DJ's and leave Kraftwerk out of techno...
Nobody force you to like Techno and other genres. Nobody said that Krafterk is techno. But saying that techno is not an electronic music is just freaking crazy. You may like it or not, but jean michel jarre, or Kraftwerk or Sven Vath or even shitty producers like Tiesto are electronic music. Electronic music is all music made with electronic synthetisers/samplers/sequencers etc. Simply like that.
@MoochBootch - And Kraftwerk influenced them all, especially the Industrial/EBM scene. Lots of nods to Kraftwerk can be heard in old school and, to a lesser degree, modern Industrial. SOme of the older examples where you can hear Kraftwerk influence are Front 242, Suicide Commando, Skinny Puppy, Birmingham 6, etc.

@AORCrazy Uhh? I don't know what has happened to your ears, but techno is wonderful IMO. And when I am talking about techno I mean this kind of techno:
