i STILL wish that nbc still had the saturday game of the week, the league championship series during the odd-numbered years and the world series during the even-numbered years. i also STILL wish that abc had "monday night baseball" as well.

FOX baseball stinks. Joe Schmuck and Tim McDimwit can't call a good game. They yammer on and on and can't go an inning without talking about the Yankees and how great they are. The back up game announcers are better, but not much. NBC was entertaining and much more professional.

If NBC gets the Game of the Week, they will have to lose some of their other sports, to do like Norte Dame football to grab it back. But it could still happen

NBC or FOX- Saturday

MLB Network-Thursday and Saturday Night

ESPN- Sunday and Monday Night

Get rid of FOX on the Saturday Afternoon games and bring back NBC. And ABC was better than FOX too. Oh for the days of Curt Gowdy and Tony Kubek again, they were soooo classy.

Nobody watches Versus. If Versus got a deal with Major League Baseball, both companies would lose money (just like with the NHL).

And Jeanne Zelasko wasn't fired. She took a leave of absence because she was diagnosed with cancer. But I do agree that she was pretty bad with the pre-shows.

Tony Kubeck was one of the greatest "color" commentators on baseball. I watched GOTW just to listen to Tony. Smooth, intelligent, insightful.

I tell you something, give a listen to Vin Scully doing a Dodger game. This is your last chance these next 2 months. Brilliant baseball announcer. He is hanging it up at the end of the Dodger's season. Dodger fans have been blessed!!!

Thanks for those kind word budman but Vin is retiring after the 2010 season. As a fan of the Dodgers, Angels, & the Padres im both happy and bless to hear Vin Scully, Jerry Coleman, and Dick Engberg on TV and on the radio and also for Harry Carrey after listening to him on WGN.

Red Barber, Mel Allen, Harry Caray, Jack Buck, Bob Murphy, Chuck Thompson, Curt Gowdy, Harry Kalas...all dead. Ernie Harwell is long since retired, and dying of cancer.

Scully is the last of his breed, the sole remaining broadcaster from the days of Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Musial, etc. Not to mention the ultimate "team" announcer: 60 seasons and counting with the Dodgers.
