  • incredible !

  • Give me 100 000 Watt Speakers to listen respectfully to this GREAT Music

  • fuck , they play so perfect that for a while I thought i was listening to the studio track

  • 2:15 geddy show

  • I have been cranking this song out for a week now....burning out the replay button on my MP3 player,.,., Cant get enough of this song. Long LIve Rush.....

  • Neil: Why are their dryers in the back?

Geddy: Well, it does get pretty hot on stage.

    Alex: He's got a point.

True reason why there is dryers in the back. lol

  • @karmaofgood Also Geddy now prefers to have his bass wired directly into the sound system, so the dryers take up the space left by the amps.

  • @riff5fki I think I make jokes like these just to see how long it will take for people to respond to them. And I knew about the wiring, I mean, it doesn't make it any less funny in my opinion.

  • @karmaofgood Well, I know, I find it funny as well, but I was just posting the main reason they were there. I'm not talking down to you at all or anything.

  • @riff5fki I didn't think so, that's why I didn't immediatly fly off the handle. I don't think there are a lot of people who listen to rush that are like that.

  • 7 people actually disliked this video? That means at least 7 people have no fucking idea what good music is...

  • A bunch-a old farts still performing kick-ass music!!!! How old is Neil now? 60's? damn

  • @halo4life1234 That man can still out play, I would say, most of the drummers today!

  • I love Rush. My favorite frickin band. Bugs me they play some of their stuff to slow live. This version of YYZ on the R30 sounds pretty good but, listen to some of the stuff on Snakes and Arrows - ugh. Can't listen or watch.

  • Best 3 piece rock band ever !!!

  • great performance, but i think their peek performance was when this song came out , back in '81, and it was from exit stage left , montreal show ! but they still rock better than most young bands, well into their 50's !! RUSH RULES !

  • Excellent Show !!!

  • For anyone who was lucky enough to see them frontrow ... you might have noticed that there were actually microphones attached to those dryers ..... lol ..... they used the low-frequency hum as a back bround ambience whenever needed according to how their soundman coordinated it. And it was a great gag to the audience. They also were tossing around free tee-shirts inside them for which in between sets pretty ladies in bikinis would come out scantily dressed and throw them out into the audience.

  • lol whats with the washing machines?

  • Geddy uses Earpieces to hear himself play now, so they don't need artificial amps, so they put washing machines as a joke

  • omg thats the best

  • your almost right, the in ear monitor isn't the answer though.

A few years back Geddy Lee removed all of his bass amplification and switched to a DI box linked into the FOH mix for all of his bass reinforcement. Left with a void where his backline was he used dryers (not washers) with special T-Shirts they give away. Vending machines along with other odd items have housed his backline since the move to FOH bass reinforcement

  • Those are dryers, not washing machines.

  • @Piro42 Geddy Lee "likes their warm, dry tone."

  • @SoberKennedy How could anyone not? The effects sound kinda like they're spinning out control sometimes, though.

    Kinda dry humor, ya dig?

  • for technical virtuosity and sheer brilliance? Rush are out on their own and cannot be compared to anyone.... simply the best there is/was/will be.....just my opinion

  • Dream Theater and Symphony X?? Better technically than Rush?? Oh, man... Don't make me laugh, ignorant fools!

I have to say that skills aren't everything when talking about ART, but RUSH IS THE BEST ROCK BAND even born into this world, technically talking.

    That's my opinion.

  • DT is a good band and one of Rush's many children. But Micheal Portnay cannot touch Neil Peart on the drums. Also what DT does with two guitars does not match up to the skills of Alex Lifeson and nobody in DT can multitask like Geddy Lee can. Also Rush can write a hit single DT can't.

  • DT has one guitarist. But I love both bands.

  • no girls there, dident surprise me.

  • I didn't know they played this on the r30 tour.

  • WOW>>>> LEGENDS !!!!

  • Washing machines 2:20 LOL

  • slow.. i like the studio version better

  • Forget led zep, the beatles, pink floyd, U2, etc.

RUSH is the best rock group EVER.

  • u can't say 4get Led Zep,Pink floyd or whatever great sounding band's from the late 60's to early 80's, they wer all great for different reasons and that is revolutionised music! Rush are a great band but now we have band's such as Dream theater and symphony x who r better than rush technically. it's called evolution!

  • paperyoungpunk! You that ignorant! Bands now better then the three piece band of "actual musicians" like Rush! Give me a three piece band now with a better Bass guitar, and drummer! You are clueless! Nobody even comes close to rush!

  • onlyonebraincell!! you obviously havn't got a clue what your talking bowt, i listen to everything, such as The Happy monday's and they couldn't even play properly cas they were always off their faces on heroin but they made the whole of manchester bounce and that's what it's all about! get a fucking grip and don't say things like 4get Led zep and pink floyd cas they r totally different to Rush if u had a brain cell u wouldn't compare so suck my paperyoungpunkballs!!!!

  • paperpaker1, even if bands like Dream Theater are better than Rush technically, a point which I think is up for discussion, there is no doubting that Rush's musical archive far outshines anything these types of bands have done. Who cares how proficient you are at an instrument if your music is boring or it all sounds the same? Simply put, Rush's music is better, and I'm not alone in that assumption.

  • they are all better musicians as well

  • some idiot once said green day when i asked this, i laughed

  • probably the most underrated musical geniuses on the planet..ALL 3 OF THEM!!!!

  • rush is the greatest rockband of the world!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing!

  • 3.56, geddy hits is head?

  • lol i guess so

  • LOL 3:56

  • He used to do that back in the day, i guess he brought it back for nostalgia's sake

  • FTW

  • 唉....都老了....

    不過還是經典!

  • -.- - -.- - - -.. (YYZ)

  • why would i copy and paste something in favor of those posers guns n' roses

  • I wish Robert Fripp recruits Geddy, Alex, and Neil, and then reincarnates "King Crimson" like that.

I wonder if Alex and Geddy can handle pieces like "Lark's Tongue in Aspic II" and " Red".

  • OK. the dream super-reincarnation of King Crimson:

    Robert Fripp (Guitar, Frippertronics)

    Alex Lifeson (Guitar, backup vox)

    Neil Peart (Drums, percussion)

    John Wetton (Bass guitar, Vocals)

i picked John Wetton, cuz Adrian Belew doesn;t fit in King Crimson. and Greg Lake was only on a couple albums.

  • Those songs aren`t much more complicated than YYZ or La Villa Strangiato. If I could play Lark`s and Red, for sure they can as well.

  • Geddy rocks!! But the real hero in this video is Neil Peart, the drummer!! He has bean voted best drummer in the world.... 6eyers in a row.

  • It comes dang close to being a priviledge to hear Geddy plunk that bass. He's one of a kind.

  • wow geddy nailed those eighth note harmonics in his third quick solo amazing

  • this has to be the best rush song...ROCK ON RUSH!

  • yyz o/

  • YYZ YYZ YYZ YYZ YYZ forever

  • geddy Lee Ftw

  • Rush is God !! Rock on !!

  • why wasnt this song on the R30 DVD or CD this is my favorite Rush song

    Rock on Rush

  • Akon is actually good. Everyone else you said suck. And I love to headband and disturb the peace.

  • RUSH FUCKING ROCKS

  • neal pert :)

  • Shit you spell his name wrongly

  • sorry fag.

  • 3:57 those people must have shat themselves for being so close

  • Hell I know i would've.

  • the best

  • geddy lee is simply amazing.

  • this is my favorite rush song

  • Til I can nail this, fingerstyle, on bass, I will forever suck! lol.

The little lead breaks Geddy does during the lil call & response bit w/ Neil are FREAKIN' HARD to nail!

  • why the two washing machines or tumble dryers on the stage, what the hell is he washing in there?

  • geddy lee said he wanted dryer amps once and it eventually led to actual dryers on stage

  • you know.. so they can change there clothes on stage and have a fresh set ready. and it s a special washer and dryer. it injects godlyns into there clothes.

  • tight schedule on the road. saves time.

  • is this the tour in brazil?

  • yea, it is.

  • this is the best verison of YYZ in my opinion

  • What a great thing to see. I don`t like the S&A live version, not because it closed the shows of this tour but because it has an important amount of imperfecctions ( talking strictly about the recorded show at the Ahoy ). This version is much better than the one that I`ve just written about and also better than the Rush in Rio version which was, until now, my favourite.

  • They put on a great show, and their music is really great, they are one of the few... Really, Rush is a very talented band. And... Geddy Lee is a legend, he is one of the most musically gifted men in rock!!

  • yea and they have a sears 5 year warranty

  • Comment removed

  • primerican! You that fucking stupid? Try comparing Neil Peart to Bill Bruford is fucking hilarious! Peart makes him look stupid!

  • Is that a Maytag washer and dryer? lol! Rush forever:)

  • RUSH IS THE BEST!!!!!!!! i have loved them since i was a little kid. neil is just expressionless lol

  • They seem to be playing it at half a beat slower.

  • Tasty man...freaking tasty!

  • ok I have never watched a bootleg of a concert (but lots of YouTubes) and maybe this is how ambitious some of them can be, but this video was shot on handheld or cell phone BUT MORE THAN ONE. I am watching and in my mind I assume it'll be one shot maybe some pans and zooms from one camera and I start to notice the cuts to different angles! wth?! Is this a co-ordinated shoot between several concert goers? Or did the creator pull OTHER shots of this particular concert that he may have come across?

  • I believe it was televised on Pay-Per-View and possibly released on DVD, I have Rush live in germany on DVD and they didnt play this song, so it may be another release.

  • Well these shaky cams, brutal zooms and varying picture quality as the edit cuts from camera to camera do NOT look like broadcast quality at all.

  • true, but would an audience member's camera(s) have this good quality? also there's no way that someone in the audience could've had that angle AND that close of zoom

  • Those camera jobs are amateur. No question about it. And they are all different types of cameras with varying ability to capture light (some shots more saturated or brighter than others), and non of them are on stands. And the editing is not pro, either (check out 1:48 where Alex was left to walk right out of frame). No friend, this aint pro. But it's cool! Not dissing it just observing. In fact I think it's resourceful.

  • Ya, this is from a bootleg called "project r30" user rollthefemers has the whole show uploaded

  • I think MetallicA was inspired by the begining of this Rush' song to write the begining of cyanide.

this one is from morse code YYZ, and cyanide's from morse code SOS.... cool as hell codes btw, LOL!

  • awesome guitar.. then the drum quick drum solos are perfect!

  • I think it is safe to say that every chick in the world had an orgasm when they heard this song...

    sick/10

  • hell yes

  • lol are you kidding?? Rush is NERD ROCK my friend. I'm not sure it's a chick magnet. Signed, A Nerd ;)

  • Well... I don't know about you, but all the girls around me starting moaning with ecstacy when they heard this song. :]

  • simply fantastick!

  • hay has any1 come to realize that geddy looks alllooot like ozzy osbourne?

  • He has said in interviews that he gets mistaken for Ozzy and Bono.

  • No.

  • LOL hell yeah, he really looks like a mixture of ozzy and bono...poor guy, LOL

  • Neil is the best drummer

    Not Keith Moon

    Not anybody

    Neil is THE best drummer

I will never forget seeing them live

    5 TIMES!

  • Amen.

  • this song should be the canadian national anthem :P

  • Is that two washing machines behind Geddy Lee???

  • yes. they used chickens roasting for snakes and arrows haha

  • The reason for the "stuff" on stage is because Geddy now has his amps set up under the stage so he can "feel" the bass and not just hear it. They didn't like the idea of having empty space behind him so they set up the washing machines.

Bonus points to anyone who ever got one of the t-shirts they were throwing out of them.

  • He doesn't even use amps anymore, he just goes direct-in to the mixing board.

  • Yep he would take towels out to dry off with! lol

  • neil keeps the metronome in time

  • :O how did you find this?

    it wasn't on the dvd

  • what city and venue is this video from?

  • germany

  • God looks up to Neil.

  • this kicks ass man!

  • this song is canadian pride

  • oh yeah.

  • they just showed this last night. i cant remember which channel. they showed the whole concert.

  • I don't know if it's the same channel you saw it on, but I saw it on Palladia a while back.

  • i have this dvd. and love watching it..its great.they also showed it on VHI CLASSIC LAST MOS.

  • Why the fuck isn't this song on the official DVD of R30?

  • yea i saw them when they were on their snakes and arrows tour. it had some of the best lighting effects i've seen IT was AMAZING!!!

  • haha i cant believe i was able to see them, rush is amazing

  • id like to see you go up there on stage and perform a kickass performance like alex lifeson and see if he messed up... pssh

  • it sounds fine too me these guys practise like all day.they never mess up,practise makes perfect!=]

  • Lol I use that all the time. Practice makes perfect.

  • 5 stars? more like 10.

  • geddy, what a witch of rock!

  • 5 stars,,, but that is what RUSH does :-) 5 freggin stars, damn this band has rocked forever and they still have it together. I have seen them twice and if they are ever in my neck of the woods,,, they are going to get seen again,, :-) By Thousands :-)

  • just saw them a couple months ago, they ended the concert with this song, was fucking awesome!!!

  • sounds good.,...like always

  • Wow!

  • fuck. i suck at bass.

  • Fuck bv127, Iv'e found out over the last 25 years that I really suck at the drums,, I appreciate your insight :-)

  • i have a ticket for the concert in pittsburgh.

  • I'm from the 'burgh as well, got to see them eight times so far. Isn't it great how they always come to Pittsburgh when they tour?!

  • they always come to concord california

that where ive seen them all 5 times

  • i would give my left nut to have that drum kit, that thing is legendary

  • Please feel free to keep your left nut,,, but you should see his NEW one. You'd give up both them little suckas,,, HaHa.. Just kidding and yes,,, legend, Rush :-)

  • i get to see them on june 30. i heard a rumor that one of ths cities was bad. i don't know details. i am hoping that riverbend won't mess anything up.

  • I saw them twice and they were amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Must have had a rare off night

  • Yes the detroit show DID suck, but it was the Venue's fault and not the band's.. i mean the mix was terrible.. i couldnt hear much bass like i did when i saw them in Chicago last year.

  • they rule sooooooo hard !!!!!!

  • u rock man

  • did you see this live ?//like did you go there

  • ya i did

  • Awesome. I just saw them last night playing this song on their Moving More Pictures tour.

  • man i wish they put the whole concert on the dvd. like YYZ they didn't even put it on the dvd. man.

  • WOW

  • i'm tryin to find out what guitars alex uses, he's using a gibson here is he not? Anyone know the exact model? I dunno anything about gibsons...i mainly play fender...but i love alex's selection

  • Not sure what year, but it's certainly a Gibson Les Paul.

  • one word "WOW"

  • Thats what I said when I saw the ticket price. What a rip off.

  • Rush is absolutely incredible...All three of them are amazing musicians and they play so flawlessly...i dont kno anyone wouldnt like them...Keep it going Rush

  • I'm disappointed that this isn't on the R30 DVD. My friend Ben just got it and when we watched it, this wasn't there. Still, it's amazing that they've been able to span over 3 decades. Most bands are lucky to be around for 5 years.

  • wow in their age they still play real good still.

Plus, this live version sounds so great, like the studio version.

  • Rush, the greatest band of all time.

  • correct!

  • Rush isnt' the best band in their class, they ARE their own class.

Like the Beatles, like Elvis, like the Ramones, like Grateful Dead...

  • amazing how they hardly break a sweat

  • I'll see them this june in Montreal.. it will be amazing!!!

  • i saw them in montreal in september... you're in for a real treat

  • that drumset or a house? hmmmm lol. rush rocks

  • His drum kit could totally be a house. And it even spins! omgz!! lol

  • houses are supposed to spin?
