@Brokeaintbroken Stanley Drucker was still princ. clarinet in '98, been there since '48 til 2008, 60 years WOW. I'm in love Cynthia and Rebecca the viola's. Judith princ. bassoon been there a long time too. I follow orch. whenever they're on PBS, which is not too often here in Florida. The New Years concert was great - all Tchaikovsky w/ Lang Lang.
With all due respect to Glenn Dichterow, I think he is a little too free with the rhythm (the whole main slow section). That plus so many volume swells, accents and sudden wild vibrato on some notes... for me it sounds for the most part very disjointed.
Regardless of my opinion, I thank you for giving the chance to hear and see this.

nat4zk, the buzz is certainly not gone once the song starts. It's a good thing you're not a recording studio engineer if you can't hear that

What happened to the Nadien Video that used to be here on Youtube. Can anyone repost it? PLEASE...I think Glenn's swan is more like a chicken...
AlexanderMandl 4 years ago
What does that mean?
violinmuse14 3 years ago
David Nadien's solo under Bernstein is more elegantly played. Subtlety, as one critic has mentioned, is not one of Dicterow's more favorable traits.
winrx 4 years ago
Intonation is not one of Glenn's strengths either. Everything is sharp.
