Its a charity purely based on voluntary participation. We don't tell anyone to do anything. However should a company participate, the copmpany can participate in a microdonation (microsponsorship) mechanism: A company can give an arbitrary amount per click (and cap at a maximum). A possible donation is triggered by users (not paid by them), hence increasing involvement and awareness.
Well, we just ASK them to do it for a good reason and of course always with the permission of the company. But good question! We also collected the most asked questions on our facebook account. Check it out!
google - as anyone else who would participate - could (and would) obviously limit the amonut given. After all its a charity based on voluntary participation.

We will advise & partner only well respected non profit-foundations & experts. Right now we do not ask for money, but for your voice. And why does google not donate, every time someone clicks the .com version? Why should they WANT to pay for .hiv, if they dont have any positiv effect for the company?
I dont get it... There is no need for them to use .hiv, but they have to pay more, than before. So they are supposed to do it for the wellbeing of the people, but for this, they dont need .hiv, becouse they do not earn more und spend this, they just pay more... Sorry, but this idea sounds better, than it is. dislike -.-

sounds great, but if people do care, they could simply donate instead of using google or something else. And for fund raising, people have to search more, because otherwise google will earn less money. And i ont think, that people will search so much more, only because of the charity. So, there is no difference in between serching by .hiv and google donates money, or just simply google donating money. And a company usuale does not donate, unless they are rewarded with something.

Maybe I missunderstand and this project don't start up to now, but google.hiv doesn't work up to now.
Think this will be a very good idea, but, you have to be transparent to everyone about using this money.

you are right - the application window will hopefully open next year. this project is a marathon, not sprint.
You can be sure that we will be 100% transparent where the money is going before we ask anyone for anything.... for this we will partner with established and well respected non-profit organizations and foundations

(continued) If there's a workable treatment that makes HIV victims healthy again there's no reason why they shouldn't honestly pay the cost of the treatment after they are healed - credit for the time of their illness is all they need. If however the treatment only prolongs their sickness and makes them beggars for a lifetime you should rather not use it at all as it's a bad treatment then. To cut artificially high costs we don't need donation but abolition of patent/copyright laws.

What a stupid idea - I am supposed to put my content on a site that makes ME donate every time someone clicks on it? So that my competitors can more quickly ruin me just by creating enough (bot) traffic? A suicide scheme much quicker than the real HIV virus... The old church/commie scam of always begging FROM OTHERS instead of doing real work yourself. That you need donations in the first place is 100% proof your project is not worth anything or you would EARN money from it.

You address a perfectly legitimate point. Aside from technical possibilities to eliminate bots, companies will obviously have the opportunity to limit the amount given. After all it is a charity and based on volontary participation. But a charity that has a strong impact on awareness and communication, which we feel is important in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We do not ask for money but for voice/advocacy.
We will put up FAQs at the facebook group.

Thank you for your comment. Again you address important issues. You will be surprised that there are many foundtions and people out there who would like to contribute to society. But you are right. We are talking to governments, larger organizations and foundations. We have gathered first partners but and are currently talking to more.

@sumow Do you always define people by ther youtubechannels? Anyways, I agree with you in one point: Its your own fault to have HIV in rich countries, because you could prevent the sickness there. But in countries where they don't even have clear water, you think they have contraceptives? And if somebody is infected by lung cancer, you would also say: "Its your fault, you smoked to much" ? I think you have to help other people, even its their own mistake.

@Chebby33 2. : poor countries people don't have the possibilities to search for help so they have to be found. this is ALOT more work and with the same investment you can only have a lesser good "healing quote" as anywhere else. and these pharmas are still unstable, africa has often done the guinea pig job. This is a really great idea, but you've got to be very transparent about the use of the money. I will certainly discourage everyone to support corrupt organizations who instrumentalize the suffering of ill people for their own interests. Do it the right way, then you will write history.

You are absolutely right. Transparency is the most crucial aspect of charity. Before we will ask anyone to participate in a donation-program it will be 100% transparent where the money goes to. We will advise & partner only well respected non profit-foundations & experts. Right now we do not ask for money, but for your voice. The application is a lengthy process & will require quite an effort. A community is the 1st step. We will put up some FAQs at our page.
