i have a 89 xj cherokee 4.0 5spd 2dr with a 2 1/4 lift on 30s i have a 16 gallon tank and i get 300 mpt wich is bout 20 mpg i have all new ignition system with after market wires,plugs,cap,rotor,msd coil, k&n replacement filter, map sensor, stock header with a straight pipe to cherry bomb the 20 dollar glasspack from autozone stops at the transfercase the video above is my cherokee

well my budy has an 89' cherokee without the intake and tb spacer and he gets about 225 milles off a full tank, i get about 240 and mine has the lift... as for power there isnt really a significant differance just responds quicker.. and for water and mud i'd stick with the stock intake but def out the tb spacer.. thanks 4 the comments

@aaminjoshi91 stock 90 I guess??250-270 would be a better way to put it. and I've gotten a lead foot lately so its all how you drive. I have added a high flow intake which is much better than the stock don't-fit air filter and adds power.

I'm confused what about what that means? i get around 240-250 to the tank 260 if i lucky. my tank is 20 gallons full and i use about 18 of it so I'm getting anywhere from 13.5-14 mpg its better then before though i used to get 12.5-13.5 mpg. after i got my air intake it went up some.

@ObsessiveDetailer cool air intake doesnt do much for power most give you about a 7% hp increase max but i like having it on my xj cause it makes the exhaust sound deeper

@SpecialEdBMX102 Yeah but 7% is a pretty good number man! i mean i did a cheap air intake on mine. a little more then what he has on this here jeep but about the same. and if its giving me 7% more horsepower from 235 on my 4.7l durango then its giving me about 16 more horsepower!! i don't think that is the case man T_T lol would be nice though!

since there really inst a cost effective way to buy a kit.. you would have to go to places like autozone, buy the Specture (ithink thats how its spelled) Air filters, then buy the Metal tubing.

ETC... this should run about $60 total.

the intake he has is a Spectre. You can find it at Autozone for $25. I have the same exact intake in my 89 cherokee and it gives a faster response and makes the engine sound deeper when i accelerate

i know i can put bigger tires on it.. i choose not to because i dont really like rock climbing or trail riding... i prefer to take it out to the sand and climb up sand dunes at higher speeds so bigger tires would kill me... but thanks 4 the comments..
