  • There's only one problem here. This was obviously lip-sync'ed. Watch her mouth movements and listen to the audio. They don't match. Not blaming her though, It was a Dick Clark production and everything he did was phony. Laura Branigan was still an awesome singer and a sad loss at such a young age.

  • 59-1.02, anyone else notice the hand movement? Still she can get away with anything cos she was just amazing and talented!

  • She was the best then and not many now coul touch her Greatness!

  • a great singer a lovely person a sad loss.......laura rip

  • i love her songs. i'd always listened to her songs. i never realized she sings these wonderful songs and didn't realized she passed away. she's awesome...

  • OMG yeah she is the perfect 80's woman

  • Great song, by a Great singer. So sadly missed but remembered always!!!!!!!

  • @MrAllucci I listened to her when I was in High School

  • il ove shattered glass

  • if this was 2010 shed have those disctracting dancers behind her like every pop star has today

  • where was this?

  • good northern soul track

  • Woohoo makes me feel like dancing.. xx

  • Is this the AB finale?

  • Es una de mis artistas favoritas en ingles, es la mezcla perfecta entre una voz dulce y ronca, y ademas, es una mujer muy sensual en sus movimientos suaves, saludos desde Guayaquil - Ecuador.

  • Ahh! The days when hollywood put out real talent who could actually sing....instead of the junk we have today.

  • Laura was a wonderful singer RIP Laura you a\re missed truly Missed

  • hah, she's so pretty sexy when she's doing this with her coat in the beginning, but that's not the serious sexuality, she's just not hot, but so lovely and cute!))

  • Yes, she was lovely and cute................AND SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSMOKIN' HOT!

    Just MHO ;)

  • yyeeeah, really tomboyish!! so nice, so strong! <3

    =)

Gracias

  • this song ist simply like a thunder !

  • One of Stock Aitken and Waterman´s finest, at least one of their songs with the best vocals, hers and Donna Summer´s.

  • I don't know why this brilliant tune didn't go at least Top 10, think it only managed no.77 in the UK. One of Stock Aitken Waterman's finest. The 12" version is brilliant, a Pete Hammond masterpiece.

  • completely agree along with sandras 'everlasting love' and boy krazys 'thats what love can do' there are a good few pwl productions that flopped which shouldnt have.

  • Totally agree. I missed it first time round. I found it when i bought her greatest hits. Have no idea why it flopped. Totally brilliant!

  • @pwlmagic Didn't it all sound the same? This sounds like Samantha Fox's nothing's gonna stop me now. Her voice is too good for this song. She ameliorates the song with her voice just like Donna Summer did with this time I know it's for real I don't wanna get hurt and Love's about to change

  • I agree her voice makes this song special (it is no Self Control) and secondly the Stock Atiken Waterman production which i love most of the 80s. She is along with Donna Summer, Hazell Dean, Sonia and Lonnie Gordon the best female singers that ever did tracks with SAW in my opinion.

  • @pwlmagic I also loved the strong voices in That's what love can do from Boy Krazy in the 90s. Do you have on mp or digital the instrumental version of too many broken hearts of Jason Donovan?

  • Great song, stunning performer. Laura Branigan is "The Voice," and caring person. Love to hear these tunes that bring back great memories. She is a favorite performer and person.

Is this the classic last performance on Dick Clark's version of American Bandstand? Quite an honor that the last guest star was Ms. Branigan. Dick Clark has impeccable taste. Laura was a favorite of Johnny Carson, too.

    Thanks for posting.

  • I have recently bought this album on vinyl

  • I will always love this beautiful hot woman! The 80´s and Laura 4-ever <3<3

  • I played the Bass in her Shattered glass video

  • Some guys have all the luck!

    Brigadier General, Branigan's Brigade

  • @djmasterjones22 Wow!!

  • I hate myself for loving this beautiful woman

  • omg, wasn't she beautiful? An underrated beauty. She was sorta tomboyish and not the kind of "feminine" that the recording industry appreciated so maybe that's why no one thought of her as striking, but her face was just simply perfect! Too bad she is gone. RIP Laura.

  • i miss her..hope your rocking in heaven

  • When I'm thinking of the 80's Laura Branigan and this song is an image that instantly comes to my mind.

  • @Rheinmetall1974

I listened to her a lot when I was in high school. I graduated in 1984

  • man she could sing

  • No one on American Idol could even touch this!

  • @brugglesby oh wow

  • i love her so much.

what a tragedy that she is gone.

  • Nice to see I'm not the only one who was charmed by Laura. She was probably my first crush. I remember seeing her on Solid Gold once, dressed in a sexy gold dress and jacket, and at that moment I stopped hating girls! lol But between her musical abilities and curvy, sexy legs, Laura Branigan was definitely my definition of the perfect '80's woman!

  • I sucks so bad that she's gone, I remember her from my younger days. How I would have liked to see her in concert.

  • One of the best SAW tracks of the 80's. Very in keeping with the sound of their 87 productions, but Laura's vocal really gave it some quality and gravitas. Pity it flopped badly here in the UK and it's a shame she's no longer with us.

  • I totaly agree with you, its a brill song, I think it got to number 84 of something like that bonkers, granted they didnt write it, but its well brill

  • it went to 48 in the US

  • I will bet I WILL be getting the Fire Hose treatment from Laura at the Pearly gates :(

Due to all our cover versions of Laura's great songs!

Please note all you Branigan Fans out there, us "LEMons" are only trying to promote Laura's nice songs by getting them back onto Youtube the ONLY WAY we can at this point in time.

Rest assured that we will remove most of our Laura songs when the real ones are allowed back here :-)

Shattered Glass is a Rockin Song!!!!!!!

    5 Starz*****

  • Yea, Laura is one Hot looking 30 year old in this vid :)

Don't worry there LowC, I remembered Laura's Birthday by launching the large Birthday rocket I built just for the occasion, it is now playing on my channel.

I painted the fins CornFlower Blue, Laura's favorite color :)

I love this song, it has been going thru my head now for 3 days! So I have the Touch album in my car CD player :)

    We Love You Laura!

You are still the Greatest to us :-)

  • Sadly the lady passed away some time ago...

  • Don't forget to remember Laura on her birthday this Friday, July 3rd, Branifan777 or the fire hose treatment will be torture. I should be so lucky as to even meet her.

  • love this song,,,,she was ace,,,,,wot exactly happened 2 her,,,,

  • looking about and apparently sadly died in her sleep as a result of a brain aneurism.

  • Great song by Laura!!! :)

Yea, that bit at 1:01 there, if you think that wasn't just the result of a camera angle problem, you better lay off the Jamaican based product! Laura was a professional singer, she wouldn't risk BS over something like that on TV.

You better watch out for a Brunnette Hottie, with a strange grin on her face like on the Hold Me album cover, when U are at the pearly gate! Beware, she may have a fire hose with your name on it, behind her back!!! :)

    We Love U Laura!

  • doesnt matter if its out of sync, i am just really glad to see her looking so hot.

  • audio is alittle out of synch, try reposting.

  • great song/ person shame she left us

  • I'm named after her!!!! I love it!

  • Greatest Voice...Worst at Lip Synching...RIP.

  • 1.01 the universal sign languge for wanker! LOVE IT!

  • lol do ya really think that she did that knowingly ????????

    makes ya wonder

  • Beautiful lady, fantastic voice. The live in Spain video of this song is great too!!!

  • Where was this????

  • What a loss. Highly grievesome and makes you enraged at same time.

  • What great singer she was...

    A great loss to music.....

    But her music lives on......

  • she's one beautiful talented woman! i'll miss her...

  • Damn! Laura Was AWESOME! I Can't Believe She's Gone...But She Sho Nuff AINT Forgotten! As Always, A Wicked Awesome Performance from The Queen Herself...You Got THE GREAT Laura Branigan onstage & they just sitting there all stiff......man, there Are ALOT of People Who Have Never Got 2 C Her Perform Who Would've Done Just About Anythang To Have Been Able To...But Nevertheless, Awesome! I Can't Believe She's Gone...But At Least We Have Videos Like This & Others That Show How Awesome She Was! R.I.P.

  • I expect the men all hyperventilated and passed out!

    TF1 ;)

  • WTF is that audiences problem? You have Laura Fucking Branigan in front of you and they can hardly clap.I would be ripping up fucking seats and setting shit on fire while singing along.Really those people....

  • Jeepers Murphy Sour...., I am laughing SO hard I can hardy type :))

    GREAT comment!!!!!!!!!!!

You hit the nail on the head there TF1

  • My god I adored Laura. My first crush back in the 80's. Gorgeous lady and the voice of an angel. The worlds a much poorer place without her in it.

  • I lived my teenage years listening to Laura on vinyl LP's and have to say I loved her then and love her now. I can remember dancing to this. Laura will be Forever Young....

    RIP Laura xox

  • She should have done a whole album with PWL like Donna Summer did.

  • American Bandstand, circa 1988.Aired on Saturdays around 1pm on ABC. Dick Clarke retired the show in the 90's after almost 40 years on-air. Laura was in some ways more popular outside the US and still is. Madonna, etc and others did more experimentation and had the time to do so, and Laura's husband became ill with cancer in 1994 and she suspended her career for years. Also, Laura was a performer, not a "celebrity" so she was very private. Madonna-et al-used that to further their careers.

  • Laura was huge in the 80's and I love her music. The problem happened around 1992, to alot of 80's stars when music tastes changed, in some ways, overnight. The fun, overproduced Euro-pop/synth 80's sound(which Laura's music was derived from) went away in favor of more raw Rap,Grunge, etc. I'd read where she admitted in retrospect, this is what happened. Still, she's terrific, God rest her soul.

  • Music sure went down the crapper in a hurry, didn't it?

    TF1 :(

  • Just look at Madonna and Cyndi Lauper they were popular in 80s and Laura wasn't. I don't know why.

  • Laura Branigan was popular, it's just that she didn't seem to have to longevity that she deserved.

  • What a voice!. That black dress reminds me of the one used by Sabrina Salerno in her Hot Girl video. She should have done more music with Stock, Aitken and Waterman.

  • SSSSSSSSSMOKIN'!!!!!!!! Ooh, ouch, hot hot hot!!!

    TF1 (BraniganFan 4 ever!)

  • What a fine song and a very beautiful looking woman might i ad.

  • i alway love her very begining . wished i see her live performance. back that time iam very young,i can't see her by myself still midle school then, and i not lived in USA yet

  • dont know l a warren seemed to do it betta more upbeat..xx

  • Where was this? What TV SHOW?

  • I saw her live many times and she was fantastic, I think people forget how huge of a star she was in the early eighties!!! I also had the oppurtunity to meet her once and she was so beautiful and sweet, miss her much

  • Amazing song from the album "Touch". One of the best songs of the 80s.

  • It's a great song, but it sounds just like the original. So my guess is that it's lipsynched. But it's wonderfl anyway.

  • what a range...

  • Does anyone have footage of the song "Hold Me" that they can post? It's one of my favorite songs and I know that I saw her perform it. Would love to see it again!

  • It's already posted here by Mikisdevil. The sound is not very good, though.

  • Yes thanks. I stumbled onto it just after posting this. It had been posted the day before.

  • Love it. Thanks for posting. She looks great. Too bad this wasn't live though.

  • Laura Branigan...One of the best female singers of all time...Enough said

  • Such a shame, for someone to die that young.

  • Well, I guess Celine's a more formal performer and people are usually formal. Laura had that terrific, powerful voice and used it in that shameless, dramatic way. So I believe Branigan's fans are a little more passionate people. Take a walk on the marginal side !!!

  • palease! laura's much prettier and not as malnourished as dion!

  • Every night at work, I torture my mate by playing Laura's videos: she prefers Celine Dion, God knows why! But last night, while playing poker, she saw this video and got so hypnotised because of the energy of Laura's performance taht she couldn't concentrate on the game... I won !!! Chapeau Laura and Mikisdevil!

  • of course!laura´s energy was powered by the most energic producers ever:STOCK AITKEN WATERMAN who did this song!

her voice fitts perfectly their aims, and it´s really stupid that they did not do any other songs with her...this one is a real real hit !!! RIP Laura!

  • Laura said S.A.&W. used to record the chorus once and then use that single take...She had to insist in singing and recording the whole lyrics for this song, since she liked every line to sound different, unique. She finally could make it her own way.

  • actually SAW produced 'the spirit of love' taken from her 'touch' LP a couple of eyars ago

  • WTF are those audience watchin for a non-live performance? gosh!

  • nice stage!

  • This is one of Laura's best TV performances. Shattered Glass should have been a bigger hit. She looked awesome. RIP, Laura.
