you spelt subscribe wrong and it wasn't good quality image and you didn't cover all of the ten commandments (bloody river nile, locusts, darkness and the angel of death!)
To this day, there is not a single church that offers the power and miracles of God Jesus said we could perform miracles beyond his. If you don't believe, read revalations, letter to the churches, you could list every hypocrite church in there. There was only 1 church worthy, the church of Philidelphia, THE ONE THAT WILL ESCAPE in the FIRST OF TWO RAPTURES BY FOLLOWING JESUS AND DOING WHAT HE SAYS! Don't follow the lies of the churches, become a TRUE CHRISTIAN TODAY!
@Bibutterfly619: Many people who have their religion in the songs they write, sometime (not all the time), they seem like they're trying to push the religion onto you. And movies with a heavy religious base sometimes have it like "Be this religion or you're going to hell." and it just gets tiring to me.
First time I actually saw Voldemort singing in my head XDD hilarious.. (that's what you get when you only listen to the song while reading the comments :D )
I remember watching this as a child:) I could sit down for hours and watch this...I did'nt mind my mom and dad on what they said because I was so into it as a child. But now as an adult I still watch this even more each day....is it a bad thing to know the lyrics to the song lol.
@TheF1R3HAWK94 I do find it funny that Ralph Fiennes is the bad guy in this movie and in Harry Potter. He just must be really good at being the bad guy lol.
I swear, in my entire life, I will never find a youtube video where there isn't a gigantic enormous debate about the video itself. Completely ruins it for me.
I'm actually agnostic and dislike when religion is used in songs/movies/etc. but I will say this movie and all the songs were just great. I can put up with them for some movies/songs like this one : D
@animegirl800 Why don't you like religion in your movies or music? I'm agnostic as well and honestly I could care less. And don't think I'm attacking you, I just like to hear others out. :)
Just goes to show how powerful the horseman of Pestilence is. I firmly believe that the first plagues were called down by the Horseman of Pestilence by order of God.
Just from watching this it really makes one wonder why they don't make more movies like this. I realize most people usually connect animation with kids films these days and indeed we have gotten some good kids animated films as well, but think of how some stories that are difficult to tell in live-action would come out if they were done on scales like this. Sure it's not quite as popular today, and you'd probably need to work hard to keep the censors away, but that's no reason not to try.
I fucking hate religion its the root evil of why people hate other people to such an extent that they consider genocide .. AND whats even worse is all the so called "gods" allah. God ect. Have all commited acts that quiet frankly should make us hate them the gods or god of any religion is no better than the rest of us
@TheUnreal66 Let me get this straight, you hate religion. Yet you're trolling in a video which has religion written all over it. You sir, get a cookie.
Why is it that no one complains about Simba and the circle of life or all the pantheistic beliefs in Pocohantis, yet when someone makes an animated movie about a story from the Bible and the God of the Bible, there are 15 pages of comments and debates on every youtube video?
@HerosMark777 Maybe because Simba's circle of life doesn't involve three of the world's largest and most influential religions, each with millions or billions of followers and each of which has a dramatic and controversial effect on the course of modern politics and society?
@HerosMark777 Thats bullshit. A LOT of "christians" complained about those other movies! Even though they did not hurt anything, and this power destroys all of egypt!
@HerosMark777 Circle of life is basic science, lion its gazzel, lion dies, lion decays and because plant food, gazzel eats plant that in a way ate the lion, repeat.
To reverse what Joseph Campell said once: "God are like computers, lots of rules. No mercy"
It sure is a cruel, demanding god. Giving free will then exacting harsh punishment who anyone who dares use to to disagree with it. But then, we know that it is the god of vengance (Psalms 94:1), it knows where you live (John 2:13). Now, some of you might think "its okay, its the divine word. We just have to interpretate it" but nope: (Peters second letter: 1:20), the bible is to be taken litterally.
Anyone ever read a graphic novel series called Preacher? It's by far the most dead on in its dealing with religion and god (basically God's the bad guy and he created mankind just so he could have someone worship him) and that people don't need god, they just need to trust themselves.
@MrDerogative Well, i think that you can hardly ignore the fact that an entire nation claims to have been enslaved in egypt. Over 1,000,000 people. We should find out which guy woke up one morning and decided to make up that story, and while were doing that, we should find out which morons decided to believe such a crazy story.
@israel8422 Well gee, how about that. An individual such as yourself, proposing to use credible evidence. Isn't that funny. Well first of all, you and I both know how susceptible large groups of people are to believing lies and fairy tales, so you can mark that off the list. Second of all, the fact that most of the construction in Egypt was done by free Egyptians is a matter of archaeological fact.
@MrDerogative Ok. But hear this. Judaism is the ONLY religion that claims to have had over 1,000,000 people at mt. sinai. I do not want to be rude or insensitive to other people's religions, but I do wish to back up my statement. Christianity and Islam have either one or few people who have "seen" a resurrection, or heard a prophecy. Does that sound odd in the slightest? Think about it. Making up a story that happened to over a million people is clearly not possible.
You should also take into account that the whole " They love it !" part in playing with the big boys is probably bit what they would say because you have to remember that this was their religion they believed in Sekmet Nephtys Set Osiris Horus and all the other. ( we don't want to be here for hours while I put down every Egyptian god i know lol )
wow. I am glad we have some very intelligent and open-minded people on this video. MOst poeple would cuss a lot and try to make others feel worse, but i am glad there are some mature poeple out there.
One thing that always pissed me off is that god killed hundreds of innocent children just because their parents were the ones at fault. If god was this powerful why didn't he just release the slaves himself instead of going such a roundabout way that ending up in the murder of hundreds of children. Like the song though.
I guess the point of this part of the Exodus story is that Pharoah belived himself above God, so therefore if Pharoah was who he claimed he was, he should have been able to send Moses and God packing, as well as reversing the effects of the plauges on Egypt.
True if God is who he claims to be than surely he could have just snapped his fingers and the day would have been saved, but then neither Pharoah, Moses nor the Hebrews or the Egyptians would have learned anything.
@juniorcodi One more story for you, in the time of King Saul (First king of Israel), King Saul spared a man by the name of King Agag or Agog depending on your version. Samuel rebuked King Saul for sparing him and Samuel killed King Agag himself. However, he left his family to live. Years after that, a man by the name of Haman an Agagite, in the book of Esther, tried to persuade the King of Persia to create a decree that will completely wipe ALL the Israelites. God knew this.
@juniorcodi Also, I attacked you for saying "Do you actually read the bible?" not for the way you said something. If I were to tell you "Do you actually read anything at all?" Then I'm sure you'd also be provoked.
@juniorcodi The only time God commanded and rebuked Isreal for not killing an entire nation was when he gave the command to wipe out the Amalekites. When Moses and the Israelites came out of Egypt. It was the Amalekites which attacked Israel when they were weak, The Amalekites killed women and children and were just as ruthless. However, even when God gave that command. The Amalekites were still around even till the days of Saul, the first king of Israel. He rebuked Saul for sparing
@juniorcodi The reason why these nations were commanded to be wiped out is because they have continually tried to wipe out Israel ever since the time of Moses. They were threats that needed to be taken care of, and it has been continuing for generations and generations. King Saul spared Agag the king of the Amalekites, this is why God rebuked Israel. Agag's family was not wiped out. What happened? Haman, Agag's descendent tried to wipe out Israel again.
@DCdabest what about the innocent lives? Your perfectly good god doesn't seem to care a lot about them. He'll do whatever it takes to "teach humanity a lesson", no matter how many lives he throws in hell on the way.
@juniorcodi Well you have to realize something. This part of the bible is actually where we deal mainly with the Jewish faith. The new testament is all Christianity. In the old testament God is vengeful and full of wrath. It was only with Christians did God take on the role of being this great and loving God whereas the devil is the dealer of suffering and such. Two completely different views of religion we are dealing with here.
@DrAchO2 In the Old Testament, God was not a God of wrath. He has saved his people and have taken compassion on other nations as well. He commanded the jews not to enslave or treat other nations like they were treated in Egypt.
He punished Israel and other nations for Baal worship, and for good reason too. A lot of people think God punished a bunch of nations for no reason. Baal worship is extremely cruel, it includes sacrificing your children and a lot of righteous people suffer.
@DrCalviny I stopped considering what you said at "in the old testament, god was not a god of wrath." Do you actually read the bible? The Flood, animal sacrifices, the several cities that he commanded his people to assault and destroy, and kill even the children and animals? Once he got mad at the hebrews because they SPARED lives in one of their city raidings. A god that asks to kill children is not very different of one that asks for them killed in sacrifice.
@juniorcodiYou think that a G-d who can create a world with such perfection, from a simple orange tree to the amazing anatomy of a human body does not have a good plan or reason for every single thing He does? Believe me, you do not take one single breath without G-d's will. You talk about G-d as if He is a human. You are so simple minded to believe that you understand how G-d feels, and how He works. Some of the ignorance that I'm reading in these posts are baffling.
Not to through a wrench into your beliefs, but has it ever occurred to you that your faith may be wrong?
There were and continue to be countless religions throughout the world, many of which existed prior to Christianity and Judaism. Many of the stories found in the Bible can be found in even older texts.
You seem to be a bit closedminded in the "accept others' opinions" department. And just spell the name. God. Yahweh. Allah. Is it really "vain" if you are defending?
@justcallmeSven Well, since the old testiment was only written after the exodus, then ya. I would not be surprised that there were similar stories found in older texts, since the forefathers lived beforehand. And ya, the thought has occured to me. I have wondered how everyone else is so sure that there religion is the right one. Well, the reason why I am sure is because I have researched other religions and have found none to be as sensical and unique as Judaism. Simple as that.
@israel8422 None are as sensible and unique as Judaism. This is a subjective assertion you're throwing out here. What features must a religion have to fit this criteria of yours? You seem to be staggeringly self assured. What makes you think other people don't feel the same way about their religion? And why do you think they would feel the same way in the first place?
@MrDerogative There are many features which would obviously not fit into a small paragraph on youtube. if you are intersted, i suggest you research orthodox judaism for yourself. That is what I did.
@justcallmeSven As for not accepting others' opinions, I am sorry that people say ignorant things. I was just pointing that out. As for your last question, not spelling out G-d's name is a small way of showing humility and respect for my Creator. P.S.- I am not this weirdly religious person of that's the impression you're getting from me. lol.
I have to say, I enjoyed reading your comment. And while I don't exactly follow or believe in a religion, I'm happy that you found something that makes sense to you.
@israel8422 this is the difference between you and us. You believe in something you can not understand, something that "will never be wrong" because "we are so lower than the almighty god to understand him and his deeds". We believe in things that MAKE SENSE, so that we can never be manipulated or blinded by the idea that we have to believe in what everybody believes. This is the very definition of faith: follow me, you don't have to agree with me or understand me.
@juniorcodi I don't really understand gravity, nor can I see it, yet I believe in it because I am firmly rooted to the ground. Believe me when I say that I only believe in things that make sense. G-d makes sense, because I don't understand how I would be here if there was not a G-d. But maybe you have a theory that makes more sense? I would love for you to share your theory, providing that it makes perfect sense. And about faith being blind-that is why we as humans were given common sense.
@israel8422 Comparing god to the wind or to gravity is one of the most cliche sophisms there is. Comparing god to gravity is the same thing to compare a man to a worm. Gravity is a simple rule that can be tested by anyone and will give immediate response, and there are many other things that differ those two. We are not discussing whether there is or not a god, but that the god portrayed in the bible is cruel and not the same all the time as the followers are used to saying.
@juniorcodi I'm not here to persuade a person with their ears shut. However, I'll leave it with at the time of Abraham, when Abraham asked God if he would spare Sodom and Gomorrah if there were 50-40-30-20-10 righteous people. He spared Noah and his family from the flood because they were THE only righteous people at his time. If you actually check in history of the people closely related to Noah's time, they depicted themselves with images in where they were having sex with animals.
@juniorcodi Also, God warned the people he was going to destroy before he sent the Israelites to do so. Here's the key word, 'warned'. The children weren't spared because like a disease or a bomb, it isn't biased. Also, the children were ALREADY exposed and corrupted by their fathers. Many of them found it normal to be sexually abused by their parents and it is by the norm that they accept it and do it to their own children when they grow up.
@juniorcodi Also, please don't question my knowledge of whether I've read the bible or not. That sounds like what an amateur would write to disregard the credibility of his opposition in an argument. Come up with an argument rather than questioning my knowledge. Also, I completely welcome you to your opinion, but it isn't something that is very original. I've heard that same argument made many times. "God is a god of wrath" is extremely redundant.
@DrCalviny You and I have completely different ideas of what justice means. Killing all the children (even little babies) and animals just because "many of them where exposed and corrupted by their fathers" doesn't sound just at all to me ...or to the whole planet. And the definition of redundancy is something that is said without it's need. God is a god of wrath has no redundancy in it. Talking about amateurs, you don't attack the way a person said something, you attack the argument.
@juniorcodi We live in an extremely vast different culture compared to those times, and comparing your idealistic sense of justice to that time is like saying "Why didn't they have democracy?" Also, floods, quakes, diseases, wars, famine, etc. still kill children and little babies today, I'm guessing you're going to justify that by saying God is still wrathful? Because people are still dying by those causes even when Jesus was around.
@juniorcodi Personally, I do not see how G-d is portrayed in the bible (well, the old testament anyway, I don't follow the new testament) is cruel at all. G-d is just. People are given free will, and if they take advantage of that, then G-d can take it away (hence Pharohs heart being hardened). How would G-d be cruel? Why would He be cruel? G-d carries our justice, and we need to remember that we as little humans can definitely not see the full picture.
@israel8422 If you do not see cruelty in killing innocents, I cannot go on with this discussion. Saying that "we as little humans cannot see the full picture" was something I once said, until I realized that that was the only thing that stopped me from questioning. It has been used for centuries to cover the many mistakes you'll find in the bible. First you said that everything made sense to you, now, you say that there are things we humans are not supposed to understand.
@juniorcodi So why do you suppose G-d created the world? ( Since you mentioned previously that this discussion was not about whether or not G-d exists). Was it for power? There was nobody to fight against for power. Was it because He was bored? I can't imagine. Explain to me why G-d would have any reason to be cruel. 4 of my husbands grandparents survived the holocaust, and continued w/their lives as completely observant individuals. They obviously understood something that you simply can not.
@israel8422 no, I do not believe in such god or in the bible. Why shouldn't you give the answers to your last questions? Since you said things MADE SENSE to you, I suppose you have it all figured out. But assuming he existed, in my conception, he did create the world because he was bored, and requires worship and sacrifices cause he is proud. And does what he did (the killing and injustices alike) because he is cruel. You either accept it or say you are too little to understand.
@juniorcodi I should not have to argue and explain that there is a G-d. Atheists (such as yourself), should be explaining why they think there is no G-d. I can not NOT believe in G-d, because then I do not understans how or why I am here. You can try to explain that to me as well. And while you see G-d as ruthless and cruel, I can not help but be gracious and appreciative of everything He has given me. You should try it, maybe it would take that chip of your shoulder. lol. jk. but seriously.
@israel8422 ok. There is nothing on my shoulders, I actually feel very free and fulfilled. And I can think of a million better reasons (some some that make sense and some that don't) to be here in this world other than to worship and serve a god that has serious temperamental problems and acted like a teenager many times. You must have a lot of reasons to see him as good, but I can't say the same for the egyptians and other people that had nothing to do with their leaders' decisions.
@israel8422 the funny thing is that first you said that it all made sense to you. Later you said that you couldn't understand because you were to little to see the big picture. Now you say that you only believe in it because there is nothing else to explain the meaning of life.As for me, I used to have very strong faith in that god of yours, until I realized that I actually just believed in him because I was told so when I was little, and that if I had been born at another country, I
@juniorcodi To answer your last question, that is definitely true. That being said, I am thankful to have been brought up to believe what I believe. And I'm not sure how to explain the fact that it makes sense to me that I can not see the full picture, but that is faith. 2 guys on a bus going to the same place. One guy is so sure that he knows how to reach his destination better then the driver that he's driving himself crazy the whole way. Other trusts the driver knows what hes doing.
@israel8422 Both end up in the same place, one frazzled and nervous, the other one calm and collected. I gotta trust that G-d knows what He's doing, or I'll live life being total nervous wreck (knowing myself lol). Listen, bad things happen to everyone, but people are less likely to break if they understand that everything happens for a reason. It's out of our hands, which I'm sure you would agree with. About et else, i believe we will have to agree to disagree, lol.
@israel8422 Living life thinking everything is out of control is a horrible way to live life. How do you wake up in the morning? What's the point if it's "fate" or "God's will"? Claiming that people are less likely to break if they "understand" (Believe) in fate is as ignorant as religion itself, which constantly works against the illumination of all, and the progress for empirical understanding. Religious explosion --> dark ages.
@dinnj Sorry, but I'm not sure I understand how that makes me not religious. Like I said, I believe it G-d because I can actually see His creations. I was just wondering why it is always us religious people (or just those who believe in G-d), who have to "explain" His existence. Not once have I heard an atheist explain why He does NOT exist. And I have asked. I have only received answers that totally avoided my question. (cont.)
@dinnjAnd it is not that I am living my life thinking that everything is out of control. I am living my life understanding that i need to do everything that I can on my side of the rope, but then everything else out of my hands.I'm just being realistic. If you think that you can control your life/destiny, you are mistaken.Try your hardest, and then you just gotta trust. Unless you think that there is something more effective that you can do to get your way. You'd certainly be a number one seller.
@israel8422 if my driver had a history of killing innocents I'd simply jump out out of the bus. And besides, I'm not driving myself crazy. Yes, that is faith. Believing in something without understanding or agreeing with it. I'll keep out of it, thanks.
@juniorcodi hmm. Seems like you missed my point, but that's fine. I can not get someone who is totally blind to their surroundings to see G-d behind every door that he's opening. And you don't have to be religious to believe in G-d, but trust me, my way is better than yours. Understanding that I'm in this world for a reason is better than believing that I'm jsut here bc "there was a big bang and idk, the world was created. Weird!" lol.
Of course. Being here to worship some vain creator is such a better theory. Big bang is way more than a BOOM. Yes, I admit that it is really romantic to believe in eternal life and have a meaning already settled by someone for you. As for me,
Seriously, pal, "believe me"? If a Buddhist should ask the same, and a Christian, and a Muslim, then, which one should I follow? Now that you have proved to me that your religion doesn't make any more sense then theirs.
and my life is not meaningless. What differs us is that you followed what other people (or g-d, call it whatever you like) had set for you as the meaning, whereas I have to figure it out or make one, rather than simply going for something ''decided'' thousands of years ago. I am happy, I don't have an empty gap, I don't need to dream with life after death or that I can do anything bad and I'll be forgiven. I respect you. It is so much easier believing than thinking.
@juniorcodi Now now, I was not trying to get you to follow my religion. Definitely not my plan. That is my thing, and I would never try to convert anyone. I obviously have my reason for following my religion, and I'm sure others have their own reasons. I was simply speaking about the belief in G-d, which doesn't require someone to be religious. And everyone finds "meaning" in different places. Some people find it in helping others, some find it in loving there family, etc.
@juniorcodi However, the difference between you and I is that I believe that I was put on this world so I can actually achieve that meaning, which would allow me to move to the next level. Do you believe that a baby who is born and passes away moments later is totally gone? That is the most depressing thought. G-d created the world as a kindness for mankind, so we can actually enjoy the world He created, and so that we can find meaning, which you have so fortunately found.
@israel8422 Did he have a lisp or not? I'm still not sure. But that's my guess since he couldn't speak the right words when speaking to the hebrews. :V am still not sure.
@israel8422 Oh dear, you should not have to explain that there is a God? I guess you're not even religious then. When you don't even know -why- you believe in something other than "I'm too uneducated to know of alternative explanations" it's not even faith. It's just a mantra you repeat to yourself. God being real would be AWFUL, a being that would commit genocide and show disregard for life would be terrible. To know we came from such an evil being would be disheartening.
@Redjoker96 yes, if god was perfect and almighty as the bible says he is, he'd have known that nine of the plagues would have had been useless. Instead, he kills animals, children, spreads diseases and so forth. How good he is.
@Redjoker96 You have to think of this though. I am no religious person by any means but I still study it. Know that contrary to Judeo-Christian beliefs, the Jews were not slaves. They actually started out as paid mercenaries who guarded Egypt's north flank. It was later that they were utilized as workers, laborers, not slaves. When the Jews left Egypt they plundered and took whatever they cold take. Food, water, valuable, even weapons.
@DrAchO2 Also, the reason why the jews became slaves to Egypt is because when Joseph (son of Jacob) helped Egypt succeed during the large famine 400 years prior to this event. Jacob and his twelve sons moved to Egypt, there they lived in luxury as Joseph was the second highest power next to Pharaoh. It was until 400 years later, that the Egyptians have forgotten why the Israelites were there in the first place, and when the Israelites became numerous. Slavery was the solution.
Wow. Thank you for informing us! This actually interested me... I always thought that Joseph came after Moses and slavery didn't stop and wasn't exclusive to jews anymore or something. Obviously I know very little ^_^
@RonnieKane Without Joseph, Egypt would have been doomed through the famine. Also, God has also shown the Egyptians mercy and grace on multiple accounts in the Bible. Such as Haggar, the maid servent of Abraham who is the mother of Ishmael (ancestor of the Islamic faith). He has shown her mercy and told her that Ishmael would grow into a great nation. However, it will be Isaac and the Israelites who would be the promised nation. He pulled them out of Egypt to keep the promise he made to Abraham.
@lord1night1wish News is for biggots. Just conservative assholes and liars. And the things that are true are usually biased or one sided. Like i said, not necessarily true. Some Islamic countries kill certain ethnic groups or non-ethnic countries, not necessarily religious types.
@SkullForce4 Dude thats a crock of shit. Egypt today has Islamists persecuting Christians, Jews and ect. If you tell me the they're lieing your a fucking moron like the rest who claim Islam is peaceful...
@lord1night1wish No, i just have common sense, morals, and i am intelligent. None of which you have. Islma isn't the source of dictatorship and anti-american tendencies. They aren't persecuting christians when they kill them in the desert. They are americans: black, white, latino, christian, atheist, it doesn't matter. It isn't the Islam religion that is fighting a war. It is terrorist group and dictatorships. Learn before you speak.
@DrCalviny It was their numbers yes but it was because they were also a military power in the Northern part of the Nile which is a critical entry area of invasion. It was fear that they made the Israelites into laborers. And besides you need look at Exodus 13:18 where it speaks of the Jews leaving the land of Egypt like an army ready for battle. Sounds more like a warrior sect rather then slaves.
@DrCalviny I thought it was in the Egyptian prophecy that one of the sons of Joseph would bring the fall of Egypt so thus brings the idea for Seti to kill all the male born children of Egypt to prevent that prophecy.
@Redjoker96 This is the old testament god. He's killing all the first born as vengeance for the Pharaoh killing all the last born sons of the Jews. The Old Testament God doesn't care for innocence or guilt, just vengeance and obedience.
how many times in history are children made to suffer because of the fault of the parents. i'm not saying that what God did was right but He did give us free will. If he had intervened, than where is the free will? It really sucks that so many innocents were killed but maybe he chose to sacrifice those children instead of all the thousands of deaths that pharoh would have commanded. and they were God's chosen people. It makes sence that He would spare their lives instead.
@ljaolhina So God murdered thousands of innocent children to preserve the free will of a single man.
Okay, I guess that makes some sort of perverted sense.
BUT WAIT! That story specifically says Pharaoh was going to let the Jews go but God hardens his heart so Pharoah keeps them. That was at the very least influencing his judgement and at worst violating his free will.
@liptonBlueBirdAdd I like to think that it wasn't God, per se, that hardened the Pharaoh's heart, but the idea of him being inferior to some higher force must've really pissed him off. Moses DID warn the guy... But that's just me. :)
@Redjoker96 well for over 300 years, the Israelites had been slaves building a kingdom of false gods and people who believed Him inferior. The plagues shook the foundations of that society and forced it to recognize the inferiority of everything they considered godly when compared to Him and then recognize His command to let His people go
@Redjoker96 you argument is real and just but don't forget not only god made this what Herod when Jesus was born and all of these happened because of the stubbornness of the pharaoh . and i assure you those innocent children are now in heaven may peace be with you
@Redjoker96 i do rs alevel :P and i was really confused about that too! but apparently, its so he can demonstrate his unbeatable power to his chosen people, so they have faith in him and know he is the one and only god :O
@thefishinthesky Would you follow a murderer if he could walk into a police station and kill everyone without getting injured. No don't think you would, would u. I don't know how you can have faith in a child killer. God:" Yes im all powerful watch me kill these children and you can't do a thing about it. Fear and serve me and i will not do it again" Sounds exactly like the prince who made the slaves obey by fear and torture. I don't see much of a difference really.
@Redjoker96 did i ever say i had any faith in God in the first place? whether i do or not makes no difference whatsoever, i was just answering your question with what i have learnt from a top theologian. maybe you should read what people say before you throw things back in their faces, and if you dont want an answer dont ask in the first place :\
@videocrack246 Dude a few thousands years later and were no better than we were back then. Hell maybe even a little worse. Look at the muslims who like to suicide bomb and how North Korea is arresting civilians who didn't cry at their late leaders funeral. They're getting executed and held in concentration camps for the rest of their lives. But most are gonna starve to death.
@videocrack246 Dude a few thousands years later and were no better than we were back then. Hell maybe even a little worse. @Redjoker96 Because it was more interesting? Face it dude, the Old Testament is the most violent religious text ever written, simply because we are a race fascinated by violence. Would anyone have read it without the sex, drugs and rock n' roll? The New Testament's a much gentler ride by comparison.
Furthermore, Rameses wasn't much better than God, he knew what was going on and STILL invoked the wrath of a deity, the dumbshit!
@Redjoker96 God coudnt get involved directly otherwise there would be no point in giving us free will, as ramaseys still wanted slaves god coudnt not disregard his free will no matter how evil.
@Redjoker96 To reiterate what everyone else has already said, God teaches people lessons. The plagues contradicted all of the Egyptian gods and goddesses they worshipped, the ones for the sky, sun, harvest, Nile, etc.
Also, the first-borns in Egypt were favored, given extra food, better bedding... all the while killing the Hebrew children when they were invited into Egypt in the first place. It was vengeance. Still an Eye-for-an-Eye era.
@Redjoker96 not to say that the killings were justified, but in the "roundabout"each plague was meant to show how the one hebrew God has more power than the gods of the egyptians. for example the darkness to show power over Ra.
THIS IS FALSE! Just at first glance! I was reading Exodus today and decided to look up "the 10 plagues of Egypt" and noticed that in this movie there are three things that just tick me off... A huge one I noticed and didn't noticed when I first watched this is that Moses was eighty years old before the first plague! *Exodus 7:7* Also, where was Aaron with Moses when they BOTH talked to Pharaoh?! Aaron was the one who threw down his staff not Moses! *Exodus 7:10*... Third, where the heck did the
@racenuke movie makers come up with raining fire?! This was not one of the 10 plagues on Egypt! A hail storm was one of these plagues but not fire! Here is a list of all 10: Plague of blood, plague of frogs, plague of gnats, plague of flies, plague on livestock, plague of boils, plague of HAIL, plague of locusts, plague of darkness, and lastly plague on the Egyptians firstborn...*Exodus 7-14* Please people, note what the corrupt media is feeding your children and young adults!
Well, it wouldn't be an attractive movie if an 80 year old led the freedom of the Hebrews, or make it look like the Egyptians are experiencing terrible plagues, from the rain of fire.
It's just little things. What you say that "corrupt media is feeding your children", it's just an extra plague, a difference in age, and Aaron not being with Moses. Even though there's more than that, it's probably little things.
Exd 9:24 "So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation."
Matthew 7:3 has something to say about motes and boards.
Just to follow on, you probably didn't find it because you're reading the NIV, which instead talks about "thunder and lightning" being mixed with the hail. Fire is in the KJV and several other translations. The movie presents it as a "hail of burning ice" (as the lyrics put it), which I guess is one way of rendering burning hail.
@CruelestChris Yeah thanks, I did look at other translations and found that some bring fourth fire as well... I wonder if they mean lightning though? Because, lightning causes fires and in the ESV it says "there was hail and fire flashing continually in the midst of the hail..."
This is my favorite part of the movie :D

@Bibutterfly619: Many people who have their religion in the songs they write, sometime (not all the time), they seem like they're trying to push the religion onto you. And movies with a heavy religious base sometimes have it like "Be this religion or you're going to hell." and it just gets tiring to me.

MrDerogative 3 weeks ago
@MrDerogative Ok. But hear this. Judaism is the ONLY religion that claims to have had over 1,000,000 people at mt. sinai. I do not want to be rude or insensitive to other people's religions, but I do wish to back up my statement. Christianity and Islam have either one or few people who have "seen" a resurrection, or heard a prophecy. Does that sound odd in the slightest? Think about it. Making up a story that happened to over a million people is clearly not possible.

DrCalviny 5 days ago
@juniorcodi The only time God commanded and rebuked Isreal for not killing an entire nation was when he gave the command to wipe out the Amalekites. When Moses and the Israelites came out of Egypt. It was the Amalekites which attacked Israel when they were weak, The Amalekites killed women and children and were just as ruthless. However, even when God gave that command. The Amalekites were still around even till the days of Saul, the first king of Israel. He rebuked Saul for sparing
DrCalviny 5 days ago
@juniorcodi The reason why these nations were commanded to be wiped out is because they have continually tried to wipe out Israel ever since the time of Moses. They were threats that needed to be taken care of, and it has been continuing for generations and generations. King Saul spared Agag the king of the Amalekites, this is why God rebuked Israel. Agag's family was not wiped out. What happened? Haman, Agag's descendent tried to wipe out Israel again.
DrCalviny 5 days ago
@DCdabest what about the innocent lives? Your perfectly good god doesn't seem to care a lot about them. He'll do whatever it takes to "teach humanity a lesson", no matter how many lives he throws in hell on the way.
juniorcodi 1 month ago
@juniorcodi Well you have to realize something. This part of the bible is actually where we deal mainly with the Jewish faith. The new testament is all Christianity. In the old testament God is vengeful and full of wrath. It was only with Christians did God take on the role of being this great and loving God whereas the devil is the dealer of suffering and such. Two completely different views of religion we are dealing with here.
DrAchO2 1 month ago
@DrAchO2 In the Old Testament, God was not a God of wrath. He has saved his people and have taken compassion on other nations as well. He commanded the jews not to enslave or treat other nations like they were treated in Egypt.
He punished Israel and other nations for Baal worship, and for good reason too. A lot of people think God punished a bunch of nations for no reason. Baal worship is extremely cruel, it includes sacrificing your children and a lot of righteous people suffer.
DrCalviny 1 month ago
@DrCalviny I stopped considering what you said at "in the old testament, god was not a god of wrath." Do you actually read the bible? The Flood, animal sacrifices, the several cities that he commanded his people to assault and destroy, and kill even the children and animals? Once he got mad at the hebrews because they SPARED lives in one of their city raidings. A god that asks to kill children is not very different of one that asks for them killed in sacrifice.
juniorcodi 3 weeks ago
@juniorcodiYou think that a G-d who can create a world with such perfection, from a simple orange tree to the amazing anatomy of a human body does not have a good plan or reason for every single thing He does? Believe me, you do not take one single breath without G-d's will. You talk about G-d as if He is a human. You are so simple minded to believe that you understand how G-d feels, and how He works. Some of the ignorance that I'm reading in these posts are baffling.
israel8422 3 weeks ago
@israel8422
God. Yahweh. Allah. Is it really "vain" if you are defending?
justcallmeSven 3 weeks ago
@justcallmeSven Well, since the old testiment was only written after the exodus, then ya. I would not be surprised that there were similar stories found in older texts, since the forefathers lived beforehand. And ya, the thought has occured to me. I have wondered how everyone else is so sure that there religion is the right one. Well, the reason why I am sure is because I have researched other religions and have found none to be as sensical and unique as Judaism. Simple as that.
israel8422 3 weeks ago
@israel8422 None are as sensible and unique as Judaism. This is a subjective assertion you're throwing out here. What features must a religion have to fit this criteria of yours? You seem to be staggeringly self assured. What makes you think other people don't feel the same way about their religion? And why do you think they would feel the same way in the first place?
MrDerogative 3 weeks ago
@MrDerogative There are many features which would obviously not fit into a small paragraph on youtube. if you are intersted, i suggest you research orthodox judaism for yourself. That is what I did.
israel8422 3 weeks ago
@justcallmeSven As for not accepting others' opinions, I am sorry that people say ignorant things. I was just pointing that out. justcallmeSven 3 weeks ago
@justcallmeSven Haha thanks! And don't worry about it- everyone's rude when they argue.
israel8422 3 weeks ago
@israel8422 this is the difference between you and us. You believe in something you can not understand, something that "will never be wrong" because "we are so lower than the almighty god to understand him and his deeds". We believe in things that MAKE SENSE, so that we can never be manipulated or blinded by the idea that we have to believe in what everybody believes. This is the very definition of faith: follow me, you don't have to agree with me or understand me.
juniorcodi 3 weeks ago
@juniorcodi I don't really understand gravity, nor can I see it, yet I believe in it because I am firmly rooted to the ground. Believe me when I say that I only believe in things that make sense. G-d makes sense, because I don't understand how I would be here if there was not a G-d. But maybe you have a theory that makes more sense? I would love for you to share your theory, providing that it makes perfect sense. And about faith being blind-that is why we as humans were given common sense.
israel8422 3 weeks ago
@israel8422 Comparing god to the wind or to gravity is one of the most cliche sophisms there is. Comparing god to gravity is the same thing to compare a man to a worm. Gravity is a simple rule that can be tested by anyone and will give immediate response, and there are many other things that differ those two. We are not discussing whether there is or not a god, but that the god portrayed in the bible is cruel and not the same all the time as the followers are used to saying.
juniorcodi 2 weeks ago
@juniorcodi I'm not here to persuade a person with their ears shut. However, I'll leave it with at the time of Abraham, when Abraham asked God if he would spare Sodom and Gomorrah if there were 50-40-30-20-10 righteous people. He spared Noah and his family from the flood because they were THE only righteous people at his time. If you actually check in history of the people closely related to Noah's time, they depicted themselves with images in where they were having sex with animals.
DrCalviny 2 weeks ago
@juniorcodi Also, God warned the people he was going to destroy before he sent the Israelites to do so. Here's the key word, 'warned'. The children weren't spared because like a disease or a bomb, it isn't biased. Also, the children were ALREADY exposed and corrupted by their fathers. Many of them found it normal to be sexually abused by their parents and it is by the norm that they accept it and do it to their own children when they grow up.
DrCalviny 2 weeks ago
@juniorcodi Also, please don't question my knowledge of whether I've read the bible or not. That sounds like what an amateur would write to disregard the credibility of his opposition in an argument. Come up with an argument rather than questioning my knowledge. Also, I completely welcome you to your opinion, but it isn't something that is very original. I've heard that same argument made many times. "God is a god of wrath" is extremely redundant.
DrCalviny 2 weeks ago
@DrCalviny You and I have completely different ideas of what justice means. Killing all the children (even little babies) and animals just because "many of them where exposed and corrupted by their fathers" doesn't sound just at all to me ...or to the whole planet. And the definition of redundancy is something that is said without it's need. God is a god of wrath has no redundancy in it. Talking about amateurs, you don't attack the way a person said something, you attack the argument.
juniorcodi 2 weeks ago
@juniorcodi We live in an extremely vast different culture compared to those times, and comparing your idealistic sense of justice to that time is like saying "Why didn't they have democracy?" Also, floods, quakes, diseases, wars, famine, etc. still kill children and little babies today, I'm guessing you're going to justify that by saying God is still wrathful? Because people are still dying by those causes even when Jesus was around.
DrCalviny 5 days ago
@juniorcodi Personally, I do not see how G-d is portrayed in the bible (well, the old testament anyway, I don't follow the new testament) is cruel at all. G-d is just. People are given free will, and if they take advantage of that, then G-d can take it away (hence Pharohs heart being hardened). How would G-d be cruel? Why would He be cruel? G-d carries our justice, and we need to remember that we as little humans can definitely not see the full picture.
israel8422 2 weeks ago
@israel8422 If you do not see cruelty in killing innocents, I cannot go on with this discussion. Saying that "we as little humans cannot see the full picture" was something I once said, until I realized that that was the only thing that stopped me from questioning. It has been used for centuries to cover the many mistakes you'll find in the bible. First you said that everything made sense to you, now, you say that there are things we humans are not supposed to understand.
juniorcodi 2 weeks ago
@juniorcodi So why do you suppose G-d created the world? ( Since you mentioned previously that this discussion was not about whether or not G-d exists). Was it for power? There was nobody to fight against for power. Was it because He was bored? I can't imagine. Explain to me why G-d would have any reason to be cruel. 4 of my husbands grandparents survived the holocaust, and continued w/their lives as completely observant individuals. They obviously understood something that you simply can not.
israel8422 2 weeks ago
@israel8422 no, I do not believe in such god or in the bible. Why shouldn't you give the answers to your last questions? Since you said things MADE SENSE to you, I suppose you have it all figured out. But assuming he existed, in my conception, he did create the world because he was bored, and requires worship and sacrifices cause he is proud. And does what he did (the killing and injustices alike) because he is cruel. You either accept it or say you are too little to understand.
juniorcodi 2 weeks ago
@juniorcodi I should not have to argue and explain that there is a G-d. Atheists (such as yourself), should be explaining why they think there is no G-d. I can not NOT believe in G-d, because then I do not understans how or why I am here. You can try to explain that to me as well. And while you see G-d as ruthless and cruel, I can not help but be gracious and appreciative of everything He has given me. You should try it, maybe it would take that chip of your shoulder. lol. jk. but seriously.
israel8422 2 weeks ago
@israel8422 ok. There is nothing on my shoulders, I actually feel very free and fulfilled. And I can think of a million better reasons (some some that make sense and some that don't) to be here in this world other than to worship and serve a god that has serious temperamental problems and acted like a teenager many times. You must have a lot of reasons to see him as good, but I can't say the same for the egyptians and other people that had nothing to do with their leaders' decisions.
juniorcodi 2 weeks ago
@israel8422 the funny thing is that first you said that it all made sense to you. Later you said that you couldn't understand because you were to little to see the big picture. Now you say that you only believe in it because there is nothing else to explain the meaning of life.As for me, I used to have very strong faith in that god of yours, until I realized that I actually just believed in him because I was told so when I was little, and that if I had been born at another country, I

@juniorcodi To answer your last question, that is definitely true. That being said, I am thankful to have been brought up to believe what I believe. About et else, i believe we will have to agree to disagree, lol.
israel8422 2 weeks ago
@israel8422 Living life thinking everything is out of control is a horrible way to live life. How do you wake up in the morning? What's the point if it's "fate" or "God's will"? Claiming that people are less likely to break if they "understand" (Believe) in fate is as ignorant as religion itself, which constantly works against the illumination of all, and the progress for empirical understanding. Religious explosion --> dark ages.
dinnj 2 weeks ago
@dinnj Sorry, but I'm not sure I understand how that makes me not religious. Like I said, I believe it G-d because I can actually see His creations. I was just wondering why it is always us religious people (or just those who believe in G-d), who have to "explain" His existence. Not once have I heard an atheist explain why He does NOT exist. And I have asked. I have only received answers that totally avoided my question. (cont.)
israel8422 2 weeks ago
@dinnjAnd it is not that I am living my life thinking that everything is out of control. I am living my life understanding that i need to do everything that I can on my side of the rope, but then everything else out of my hands.I'm just being realistic. If you think that you can control your life/destiny, you are mistaken.Try your hardest, and then you just gotta trust. Unless you think that there is something more effective that you can do to get your way. You'd certainly be a number one seller.
israel8422 2 weeks ago
@israel8422 if my driver had a history of killing innocents I'd simply jump out out of the bus. And besides, I'm not driving myself crazy. Yes, that is faith. Believing in something without understanding or agreeing with it. I'll keep out of it, thanks.
juniorcodi 2 weeks ago
@juniorcodi hmm. Seems like you missed my point, but that's fine. I can not get someone who is totally blind to their surroundings to see G-d behind every door that he's opening. And you don't have to be religious to believe in G-d, but trust me, my way is better than yours. Understanding that I'm in this world for a reason is better than believing that I'm jsut here bc "there was a big bang and idk, the world was created. Weird!" lol.
israel8422 2 weeks ago
@israel8422
Now that you have proved to me that your religion doesn't make any more sense then theirs.
juniorcodi 2 weeks ago
and my life is not meaningless. It is so much easier believing than thinking.
juniorcodi 2 weeks ago
@juniorcodi Now now, I was not trying to get you to follow my religion. Definitely not my plan. That is my thing, and I would never try to convert anyone. I obviously have my reason for following my religion, and I'm sure others have their own reasons. I was simply speaking about the belief in G-d, which doesn't require someone to be religious. And everyone finds "meaning" in different places. Some people find it in helping others, some find it in loving there family, etc.
israel8422 2 weeks ago
@juniorcodi However, the difference between you and I is that I believe that I was put on this world so I can actually achieve that meaning, which would allow me to move to the next level. Do you believe that a baby who is born and passes away moments later is totally gone? That is the most depressing thought. G-d created the world as a kindness for mankind, so we can actually enjoy the world He created, and so that we can find meaning, which you have so fortunately found.

israel8422 1 week ago
@israel8422 Oh dear, you should not have to explain that there is a God? I guess you're not even religious then. When you don't even know -why- you believe in something other than "I'm too uneducated to know of alternative explanations" it's not even faith. It's just a mantra you repeat to yourself. God being real would be AWFUL, a being that would commit genocide and show disregard for life would be terrible. To know we came from such an evil being would be disheartening.
dinnj 2 weeks ago
@Redjoker96 yes, if god was perfect and almighty as the bible says he is, he'd have known that nine of the plagues would have had been useless. Instead, he kills animals, children, spreads diseases and so forth. How good he is.
juniorcodi 1 month ago
@Redjoker96 You have to think of this though. I am no religious person by any means but I still study it. Know that contrary to Judeo-Christian beliefs, the Jews were not slaves. They actually started out as paid mercenaries who guarded Egypt's north flank. It was later that they were utilized as workers, laborers, not slaves. When the Jews left Egypt they plundered and took whatever they cold take. Food, water, valuable, even weapons.
DrAchO2 1 month ago
@DrAchO2 Also, the reason why the jews became slaves to Egypt is because when Joseph (son of Jacob) helped Egypt succeed during the large famine 400 years prior to this event. Jacob and his twelve sons moved to Egypt, there they lived in luxury as Joseph was the second highest power next to Pharaoh. It was until 400 years later, that the Egyptians have forgotten why the Israelites were there in the first place, and when the Israelites became numerous. Slavery was the solution.
DrCalviny 1 month ago
@DrCalviny
Wow. Thank you for informing us! This actually interested me... I always thought that Joseph came after Moses and slavery didn't stop and wasn't exclusive to jews anymore or something. Obviously I know very little ^_^
RonnieKane 1 month ago
@RonnieKane Without Joseph, Egypt would have been doomed through the famine. Also, God has also shown the Egyptians mercy and grace on multiple accounts in the Bible. Such as Haggar, the maid servent of Abraham who is the mother of Ishmael (ancestor of the Islamic faith). He has shown her mercy and told her that Ishmael would grow into a great nation. However, it will be Isaac and the Israelites who would be the promised nation. He pulled them out of Egypt to keep the promise he made to Abraham.

@SkullForce4 Dude thats a crock of shit. Egypt today has Islamists persecuting Christians, Jews and ect. If you tell me the they're lieing your a fucking moron like the rest who claim Islam is peaceful...
lord1night1wish 2 weeks ago
@lord1night1wish No, i just have common sense, morals, and i am intelligent. None of which you have. Islma isn't the source of dictatorship and anti-american tendencies. They aren't persecuting christians when they kill them in the desert. They are americans: black, white, latino, christian, atheist, it doesn't matter. It isn't the Islam religion that is fighting a war. It is terrorist group and dictatorships. Learn before you speak.
SkullForce4 2 weeks ago
@DrCalviny It was their numbers yes but it was because they were also a military power in the Northern part of the Nile which is a critical entry area of invasion. It was fear that they made the Israelites into laborers. And besides you need look at Exodus 13:18 where it speaks of the Jews leaving the land of Egypt like an army ready for battle. Sounds more like a warrior sect rather then slaves.
DrAchO2 4 weeks ago
@DrCalviny I thought it was in the Egyptian prophecy that one of the sons of Joseph would bring the fall of Egypt so thus brings the idea for Seti to kill all the male born children of Egypt to prevent that prophecy.
Chrisa1984 4 weeks ago
@Redjoker96 This is the old testament god. He's killing all the first born as vengeance for the Pharaoh killing all the last born sons of the Jews. The Old Testament God doesn't care for innocence or guilt, just vengeance and obedience.
ArticBreakup 3 weeks ago
@Redjoker96
how many times in history are children made to suffer because of the fault of the parents. i'm not saying that what God did was right but He did give us free will. If he had intervened, than where is the free will? It really sucks that so many innocents were killed but maybe he chose to sacrifice those children instead of all the thousands of deaths that pharoh would have commanded. and they were God's chosen people. It makes sence that He would spare their lives instead.
ljaolhina 3 weeks ago
@ljaolhina So God murdered thousands of innocent children to preserve the free will of a single man.
Okay, I guess that makes some sort of perverted sense.
BUT WAIT! That story specifically says Pharaoh was going to let the Jews go but God hardens his heart so Pharoah keeps them. That was at the very least influencing his judgement and at worst violating his free will.
liptonBlueBirdAdd 3 weeks ago
@liptonBlueBirdAdd I like to think that it wasn't God, per se, that hardened the Pharaoh's heart, but the idea of him being inferior to some higher force must've really pissed him off. Moses DID warn the guy... But that's just me. :)

@Redjoker96 As a young Christian with simple logic, I asked the same question.
I was subsequently called a bad Christian for questioning the Lord's wisdom.
liptonBlueBirdAdd 3 weeks ago
@Redjoker96 well for over 300 years, the Israelites had been slaves building a kingdom of false gods and people who believed Him inferior. The plagues shook the foundations of that society and forced it to recognize the inferiority of everything they considered godly when compared to Him and then recognize His command to let His people go

thefishinthesky 3 weeks ago
@thefishinthesky Would you follow a murderer if he could walk into a police station and kill everyone without getting injured. No don't think you would, would u. I don't know how you can have faith in a child killer. God:" Yes im all powerful watch me kill these children and you can't do a thing about it. Fear and serve me and i will not do it again" Sounds exactly like the prince who made the slaves obey by fear and torture. I don't see much of a difference really.
Redjoker96 2 weeks ago
@Redjoker96 did i ever say i had any faith in God in the first place? whether i do or not makes no difference whatsoever, i was just answering your question with what i have learnt from a top theologian. maybe you should read what people say before you throw things back in their faces, and if you dont want an answer dont ask in the first place :\
thefishinthesky 2 weeks ago
Because God doesn't work like that. If God solved everything that went wrong, we would do nothing, we would learn nothing, we would be nothing.

TwelvetreeZ 2 weeks ago
@Redjoker96 God coudnt get involved directly otherwise there would be no point in giving us free will, as ramaseys still wanted slaves god coudnt not disregard his free will no matter how evil.
MrDarkPheonix 2 weeks ago
@Redjoker96 To reiterate what everyone else has already said, God teaches people lessons. The plagues contradicted all of the Egyptian gods and goddesses they worshipped, the ones for the sky, sun, harvest, Nile, etc.
Also, the first-borns in Egypt were favored, given extra food, better bedding... all the while killing the Hebrew children when they were invited into Egypt in the first place. It was vengeance. Still an Eye-for-an-Eye era.
silasreade 2 weeks ago

Third, where the heck did the
racenuke 1 month ago
@racenuke movie makers come up with raining fire?! This was not one of the 10 plagues on Egypt! A hail storm was one of these plagues but not fire! Here is a list of all 10: Plague of blood, plague of frogs, plague of gnats, plague of flies, plague on livestock, plague of boils, plague of HAIL, plague of locusts, plague of darkness, and lastly plague on the Egyptians firstborn...*Exodus 7-14* Please people, note what the corrupt media is feeding your children and young adults!
racenuke 1 month ago
@racenuke
TheChocos0 1 month ago
@TheChocos0 "little things" like "little sins" will send us all to hell unless we are saved through Jesus.

Exd 9:24 "So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation."
Matthew 7:3 has something to say about motes and boards.
CruelestChris 1 month ago
@racenuke
CruelestChris 1 month ago
@CruelestChris Yeah thanks, I did look at other translations and found that some bring fourth fire as well... I wonder if they mean lightning though? Because, lightning causes fires and in the ESV it says "there was hail and fire flashing continually in the midst of the hail..."
