well, I didn't hear for "rim click" but maybe it is "rim click" because this is very soft and "rim shot" it's classic strock with rim "rim shot"

Yeah maggotvenger94 is right. It's still called a rim shot not a rim click. If you think it's used interchangeable, you learned wrong somewhere. Also, what you're doing are just guidelines. Usually, you hit the top of a cymbal. Buddy Rich uses both sides. Usually, you drum in the middle of the snare drum (and possible the rim). Buddy rich uses the area in between as well. For example, a variation on the first rim shot is to hit it with the stick too.
