The end of the world prophecies will happen because our idiot scientists will cause us all to be converted into a tiny neutron star in 2012. It all fits perfectly! XD
wow people cry too much about the "potential" for catastrophic results from the LHC. Just lets them do their tests and should something go wrong you're not gonna be alive to feel anything, which is probably already a better death than the one nature has planned for you should the LHC not destroy humanity.
i suppose that attitude towards life isn't exactly the norm, but i don't think it's strange. I am happy with my life thus far, and i'd like to continue living, but should i die now, i wouldnt have regrets.
it only shows how much you value your life and the life of your fellow men. What about human history. Would be gone. Human achievements, all gone. You have to think on a broader scale than just worrying (or not) about your own life.
How would you know that it would be less painful ? In one of the scenarios (quark bomb) the world is not destroyed but thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people could get radioactively contaminated. Not a very nice way to die.
That is a very good point, and looking at it that way it is very, very egotistical. I guess what it comes down to for me is that im a risk taker, and my life does have a pattern of decisions that were not fully weighed.
When i look at human achievement i have trust that should there be an imminent threat, the ones that are in power have already decided that it's safe before building this machine...
But when i look at human history, the a-bomb in particular, i am a bit worried.
I'm also a risk taker. But when it comes to health and life I don't risk other people's life. Many people don't agree with the LHC experiments, some even don't know about them. Still, their health or even their life is possibly at risk because of the CERN scientists who think that they can decide on the fate of mankind, no matter if that is positive or very very negative.
It is true that the potential risk is far more damaging than the potential gain...
i guess its a cost-benefit-risk analysis that the whole world is invariably caught up in. i need to more research before i continue this conversation, at the risk of trying to talk out of my ass.
Good video. But how would gravity hold this together? surely every particle inlcuding the theoretical graviton particle would be affected by the change?
use your fantasy. It's of course unknown what the strangelets properties would be. Gravity can't get lost as long as mass is not transformed into pure energy (gamma radiation).
we won't kill anyone. But I understand your concern. If it was certain that this is what would happen if they do the experiment we would rather go there and prevent them from pushing the buttons. If that won't help only mean would be sabotage of the machine. Killing is neva an option!
What is the name of this song? Where can I download a copy of it?

When i look at human history i also see great achievement only in those who dare risk everything.

strange kind of attitude towards life ... and quite egoistic

Why is that outlook egotistical?

... if they shut it down for good :D
well, I hope it won't. Anyway, I ''prefer'' the quark bomb scenario.
