Make a smaller alcohol stove out of starbucks shots coffee drinks or the thinner redbull aluminum cans. I made a couple for my kit and it works great. Burns 15mins on 1oz of fuel...and that would fit well inside the mouth of your cans. Great idea...good video.
Another way to keep them water proof and make a longer one is to just cut the centers out of the lids after you tape them together. Basically then it would open in the center, but then you can put something long in the middle before you screw them back together.
Brilliant idea, and an excellent video. I just put together a survival kit in a fishing/hunting vest, for day hikes. That way I won't have to carry a daypack (which I could lose, or whatever) and it will be on me when/if I need it. I just put all the components (shelter, cooking kit, first aid, etc.) in the various pockets. It's quite light and comfy to carry.
@LoveRise Actually, someone has made one already. However, since I posted that comment, I've discovered Ribz, which work better for me than the vest. They carry enough stuff to enable me to keep my mid sized backpack, instead of going to a larger one. And for dayhikes, they carry all the emergency gear I need.
Wow, this is an excellent adaptation! You don't need any exotic or heavy tools to do this, so if you're like me (without a hint of a workshop), it's very doable. We use a lot of peanut butter, too. After I build up some containers, I'll get to work on it.
Sheer Brilliance...thanks for the idea!

use a welding rod holder you can find it at any welding shop for less than 10 bucks and is the same size and water proof and has a belt clip on it

Great tip brother, I think when I put one of these together I'll leave the peanut butter in one of them, only because I eat it by the spoon full :)
Thumbs up!
