  • DEFINITELY would recommend regular potatoes, and real cheddar cheese instead of the Velveeta cheese.

  • Wow . thanks . great reciepe.

  • @zem1956 Thanks for the comment, hope you enjoy.

  • what kind of meat is it? is it minced chicken or beef?

  • @lovekpop4ever1 by the looks of it id say she used minced beef :)

  • the only thing i do different is i start my onions and fresh garlic first saute then add meat and i add a bit of tomato paste then everything else is pretty much just like you do good cooking

  • And if i wanna use ordinary potatoes, they have to be cooked a and mashed? ha i've never come across powder potatoes.

  • @justynamaj9 It's best if you do use real (fresh) potatoes, not the dried flakes. I use them because they are quick and easy. They do need to be mashed.

  • @TooTiredTeacher I made it yesterday and it was deliscious!!!! Thank you;) my boyfriend loved it too:)

  • @justynamaj9 Glad to hear that, some of my teacher friends who don't cook said this is one of their favorites because it's easy. You might want to try some of the other videos there easy to.

  • @TooTiredTeacher Definitely will as i'm a begginer cook- I'm just 15 but i love cooking and i love trying new dishes :) Im glad i came across your channel:) You'll be my guide for dinners for the future haha xx

  • @justynamaj9 lol hahahahahahahahahaha

  • @justynamaj9 im 15 but im a boy lol i love it (i llive alone :P

  • Nice recipe and nicely done video. And to all those posting that this is not right, you are always free to make it your own way. I know that I would make a few changes, myself. But it is still a good basic recipe that each good cook would personalize. Thanks, Teacher!!

  • wow that was really easy

  • @ladyilldrastic1 - quick and easy.

  • Yum

  • Lovely. It just look so yummy. Especially now that winter's upon us. Thanks for posting, teach.

  • Hi! I'm italian. May I ask you how do you call in english the object you use to cook a pie? I need exactly the one you can enlarge. Thank you :)

  • @San5a Sorry, I'm not sure what you are asking. Please reply back so I can help.

  • @San5a an oven

  • @San5a

    Padella = Pan

    Forno = Oven

  • @123eyewash Thanks for watching.

  • looks yummy, thanks!

  • Mmmm Looks really good!!! :D

  • @Tyewilleatyoualive

Taste really good, try it tonight. Thanks for stopping by.

  • still takes at least 30-45 minutes to make; nrxt time just order takeout.

  • @supercooled I can tell you not a working mommy, for me to order take out it would cost $45.00 plus and then they get the order wrong, and it takes 45 to 1hour to get it. With this $12.00 and left overs for the next day. 3 min. in the micro and dinner is done, or freeze for another night. Yes it done freeze great. When I was in college I ate fast food take out all the time, but thats when I didn't have to think about anyone else. Have a great day and order something healthy and cheap. :)

  • Good effort - especially the idea with the cheese, but i have a few criticisms: the first being that there were far too many vegetables, and not the right sort. Carrots and Onions are the only vegetables that should be in a shepherd's pie - anything else is overkill imo. You also forgot to mention the seasoning with Rosemary during the process of cooking the mince.

Please use real mash potatoes (which is easier than instant mash imo and tastes a lot better) and cook for about 25 mins. Nice try!

  • @Glumlock That's the only way I can get my boys to eat their veggies, and as for the Rosemary nice touch, but they don't like the taste. But thanks for the comment. Have a wonderful weekend.

  • you had me listening until the 'instant mash' part

  • @1REACH1 This is a quick and easy Shepherd pie for the working person who does not have the time to wash, peal, cut, boil and mash the potatoes. In the summer time when I'm not teaching I do all my homemade dishes from scratch, which does take more time. Just trade out the instants for real if you have the time. Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend.

  • @1REACH1 yeah me too. i would use beef that has less fat so you dont have to drain it out. and just instant mash? if is good for the quick way. but i see it as just like if you put all the work into the filling why put instant mash ontop. when if you peel and quarter potatoes boil them it doesent take that much longer. the cheese idea was interesting.

  • @smartpartsionlover Like I tell my students go with the idea and my it your own. Have a nice weekend.

  • looks good other than that bizarrely flexible cheese... I'll try this out but shred my own chedder.

  • @AlcoholLevel this cheese melts real good, others are stringy

  • @TooTiredTeacher is it real cheese or something produced in a lab?

  • @AlcoholLevel Do what you need to do to make it the way you like it.

  • @TooTiredTeacher Thanks and I have, minus the strange flexible manufactured cheese.

  • @AlcoholLevel What kind of cheese did you use that wasn't stringy and melted nice? I would like to try it. :)

  • that is a ton of cheese wow

  • @dropandlongD My boys love cheese.

  • how much does it take to cook ??

  • How much beef do you use? How many cups of vegetables? There are no measurements given in this recipe. How am I supposed to make it like you do if I don't know that information?

  • @DrewFaron ,The measurements are on the side bar to the right of the video. click more info. This does make a large amount. Its great for left overs.

  • OIC! Thank you so much. I will be at your house for dinner soon! LOL! I just figured out the sidebar option! One more question...Do you know how to make Chicken Pot Pie? If so, send me a link to the video. Thank you!

  • @DrewFaron I have a video on Chicken Pot Pie also. Check out the other videos, there quick and easy also.

  • @DrewFaron true cooking doesnt need measurements..depend on how to prefer its to be more meaty or more veg its all about how you like it to be

  • Cheese? Nooooo. That is not shepards pie. Well, it is but its not the proper way you make it. Leave the cheese out, save calories, time and money and you wont taste mince and cheese....god. Good vid though thanks. LOL

  • @alanna4858 Putting the cheese on it is the way I get my boys to eat their veggies. Their gowing boys so the work it off.

  • were those frozen or can mixed veggies? IF they were frozen, how did you steamed the frozen veggies?

  • They are frozen mixed veggies, I zapped them in the mirco until they were thawed, almost cooked. Then they were finished up in the pan.

  • When is the cookbook coming !... I get first order...(smile) as always you are an awesome teacher...You and Betty are some of my favorites...

  • Thanks, Betty's one of my favorites to, my first name is Betty also.

  • I liked the idea of the cheese layer.

    Incredibly tasty looking dish!

  • haha im a teacher and im never tired!

  • @a181570s that is a laugh, I've never met one that wasn't, except the ones that beat the students out of the parking lot and never look back.

  • Awesome! That was so simple! Thanks for sharing!

  • Yum,,,Im going to try this, but I might use the soy meat with it. Thank you for posting!

    You do a wonderful job!

  • Hi thanks for that - how about trying a lancashire hot pot ? same ingredients (apart from the sweetcorn ), though you can use diced beef/lamb rather than minced - topping, get some vac pack pre peeled par boiled potatoes, slice them - put on top with a little grated - or kraft sliced cheddar on top a little butter and black pepper - thats how make it in England

  • Sounds great I'll give it a try.

  • I definately am going to give this a try,

  • Also, did you ever think about using the steam and mash potatoes that you can get in your freezer section nowadays... I use that when I don't feel like making potatoes from scratch... I find they taste better than the instant (though they cost a little more).

  • I never have tied them, What a great way to make the shepard pie even faster. I'm all for quick and easy when I'm teaching school. Thanks for all your comments. Have a wonderful summer!

  • nice... I never thought to create a gravy using flour and water... I just use some Worcestershire Sauce for flavor.

  • Make sure you brown the flour before adding the water or it will taste like paste.

  • If you worked a LV in A'dale, you need to let your natural personality shine through a little more. You'll have your own show in no time.

  • Well thank you, but you know how I am, real shy. LOL Have a nice summer.

  • That was great my friend. Now you need to do one making those famous grits that you feed us at work. It sure made me want some shepherd's pie. You are the best just like you are in teaching. Jo

  • I am trying to get the grits done for you using just the microwave to cook for 2 to 4 people the quick and easy way. Subscribe to my channel and as soon as I put it on YouTube you'll know. Have a relaxing summer. Your friend BK

  • i just got hungry. its my favorite dish in our school:D and it tastes real real good:D

  • Its my favorite also, at our school they make it with meat, potatoes and cheese. When they see me, they know to put the mixed veggies on my tray first and then the Shepherds Pie on top. Mrs. Betty likes to keep her teachers Happyyyyy  )TooTiredTeacher

  • we just made one a while ago and it was really good:D we based the process from yer video:D thanks soo much:D youre such a big help:) i subscribed:D post some more recipes:) thank you:D

  • Great recepie. I am not sure about the flour and water for gravy, I use a beef stock cube. Tabasco sauce, tomato puree etc for flavour, and some finely chopped green pepper with the onions.

Guess you can add what you like, it always tastes good.

  • Glad you liked the recipe, I tried yours and it gave it a whole different twist on it. Now I have two different types of Shepherds Pie recipes

    Thanks, --TooTiredTeacher

  • Likewise;) There is one other ingredient I forgot to mention, grated carrots. Got the idea from Gordon Ramsey on here. Really adds to the flavour.

  • I love it... I put some cheese on top of the potatoes as well, but I'm a cheese fan.

  • Glad you liked the Shepherds Pie, I'm going to be posting quick and easy chicken and dumplings later.

Let me know if you have anything you'd like to see.
