Simply beautiful.... stunning... stupendous.... exquisite... No word, or phrase, no matter how eloquent, can truly describe the depth of emotion and beauty that makes up this piece
The comment of the video says " The violinist has to negotiate some complicated passage work in this section" at the 54 seconds.. that's truth.. not easy at all but once you get it, you can do it :)
Beautiful artist. sweet and at the same time aggressive and possessive on the instrument. Great personality interpretation. Always full and clear sound. Passion in every note. Very good Janine Jansen!
At 7:31 those pizzicati remind me of my debut with this piece. I did it so forcefully that the strings cut my index. And it drove me crazy to bear it, trying to finish the piece. Eventually I completed it with blood stains on the violin and the bow.. .

The conductor is utterly boring and lifeless. Even in the lively third movement he is just standing there waving his hand like it is a slow musical passage. I still prefer Hilary Hahn's Mendelssohn. This woman appears to be having difficulties in some parts.
i dont think you havve to be dead accurate to produce a beautiful tone...maybe others play more accurately but janine jansen's expression beats them for the better performance
I was at this proms concert, and her performance will always be in my mind to remember. She may not be as accurate as Hilary Hahn, but she's much more expressive, and has an amazing passion in her performances.
She plays those 4 consequtive 5-note runs which introduce the last movement with EXACTLY the same finesse as Sarah Chang on her internet recording. I like it, but I havn't heard anyone else do it like that. I think it seems it was Sarah Changs invention and Jansen copied the idea from her. Does anyone think otherwise? (quiet/very quiet/getting quickly loud/then full loudness)
I also agree. The orchestra is playing, but they are not performing. Janine is spectacular, and she does deserve better. But I think it's a wonderful performance.
I agree, I've never seen such a passionate soloist and such a horribly dis-passionate conductor. The orchestra are dead, how could Janie play with this fool?
I understand what you're saying - I don't particularly like Norrington either - and actually I agree with you. Still I'm not sure I would refer to him as a "fool."
Im happy to admit that it makes me weep :) with a combination of Joy and some deep seated sadness. Totally awesome :))))

I believe they're chorus members; they would've dressed in black regardless.
