Scarf Project for 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games

What a wonderful video and, yes, it brought me to tears. I've been unemployed for over a year, which can make one feel pretty useless. When I heard about the Special Olympics Scarf project I knew this was something I could do. I love to crochet and, even though I shouldn't be spending money on anything that isn't an absolute essential, this felt essential to me. I've two scarves done and know I'll be able to finish two more before the deadline. Thank you for giving me a purpose.

My neice and I are gearing up - it's my first time to do this. I'm 59 (but young at heart) in NC - my neice is 44 and in PA. Her daughter was born with Downs Syndrome - I have another neice in her late 40's that is Downs and a great nephew that is Downs. So we are trying to get a group of ladies to help us this year and donate on behalf of the Centre County, PA area. Had I known they did this before now, I would have been a part of the giving. It's an honor to put a smile on their face.

@lyteyz Hi - my neice and I are gearing up to participate and was just wondering where you are from? I'm in Pineville, NC and she is in Julian, PA (near Penn State University). We're in the processing of picking out a design and looking for volunteers in our area to help and send them all in as a group. Do you have friends or family or a group started. Would be nice to have penpals while doing this. It's my first year to participate because I didn't know about it before. Hope 2 hear from u

@TXBluebird HI there! So sorry it took me so long to reply. I am in Leesburg, VA. I didn't even realize people did this as groups. This is also my first year contributing also. I have a deadline of Feb. 28 to have it in the mail. I have been winging it with this scarf I am making. I learned a new technique last year (tunisian) and that has been something I have really enjoyed...so thats what I am going with on this scarf...I hope to hear back from u.
