Ah Saving private Ryan was the fist ww2 movie i saw that movie awoke my intrest in ww2 a darn good movie. Letters from Iwo Jima is standing in my shelf and yes it's a darn good movie that too. A USAF F-16 was shot down on a recon mission in Serbia during the Bosnian war in the 1995 and the pilot was stranded in enemy territory for 6 days before being rescued. "Behind Enemy Lines" was a movie to basically remake the pilots experience in those 6 days.

Enemy at the gates was not based on that book. It was based on a representation of the snipers (cannot spell the name so shall not try) encounters at Stalingrad. The book you stated wasn't used as the base to the movie, they used online research in to his life. Although I did enjoy the book also.
