  • Interesting talk all around here. I love Dr. G's vibe and everything, but his assumed premise that all we've ever needed & wanted since birth was fruit I found curious. Where is the archaeological history to prove this? Thanks kindly

Take a look around America, walk down the street, more than half of everyone is obese. How many people have cancer or heart disease? There is a huge problem.

  • When people think of Lettuce, they think of a head of iceberg lettuce, because that is what is most commonly sold in grocery stores. I eat Romaine lettuce, or mixed greens in my salads and on sandwiches, because it is nutritious. I don't want to fill up on anything that doesn't have enough nutrition in it. There is only so much I can eat in a day. We also can't forget there are a number of greens to eat besides lettuces. I always encourage people to try and add some dandilion greens...

  • @xedgexpax.....or the rest of the plant for that matter..it's one of the most nutritious things you will find to eat. It's a bit bitter, but you can add it in your salad, or smoothie and you won't even notice it's there. It's good for all sorts of ailments as well.

Olives are a fruit and they have chlorophyll in them and that is just a counter example for your statement, go look and you'll find more

  • actually, I like savoury food - I crave it sometimes, as I crave (have appetite) for other tastes and flavours, including sweet. The impression I get from Doug is that everyone only has a sweet tooth and that is not entirely true in my experience

  • I wouldn't recommend cooking/killing them in the first place, it's eating dead food. However, if someone lightly steams the "soak" water I am referring to is the water content being drained from the vegetable... like a person bleeding to death - dying. Sorry to sound so extreme but I'm not a fan of cooking foods. I did also mean any water used in the process - use the liquid - wherever it's from. I think it's great you are using the liquid though and not just tossing the nutrients away.

  • There has never been a society which has thrived exclusively on a raw vegan, vegan, natural hygeine, or fruitarian diet ever! Also where is the 100 year old fruitarians? Where is the 100 year old vegans? You just will not find them! The oldest lady that just died recently who was 115 ate bacon every day and loved ice cream. Another 113 guy started to eat two meals a day for the past 35 years and He believes that is what has made him healthy and fit. He consumes eggs, bacon, and fruit!

  • Dr. Graham is not advocating a diet based on seedless fruits, he is advocating a diet based on raw fruits and vegetables.

    You should specify your remarks, and not generalize the whole diet, which is fundamentally correct.

    If you are allergic to solanine, and you eat tomatoes, you´re going to have trouble, although the issue is not about the basic principle of the diet but only a secondary deviation.

    Yes, I do agree that hybridized fruits should consumed in moderation.

  • Any type of fruit that has been hybridized (not GMO, but a man made selection) in order not to contain seeds.

    Some varieties of watermelon or grapes for example do not contain seeds. The fact that a fruit is seedless, does not compromise it´s nutritional quality.

    All agricultural produce has somehow been transformed by man´s selection.

    It is a non issue.

  • I don't think it changes nutritional values...but from the latest research...new theories about our society eating a predominance of seedless food(cucumbers, bananas, raisins etc) and the correlation to becoming a "seedless" society...that is to say, infertile. I am open to all theories, however I find this one quite compelling and sensical.

    "Society" is not eating "cucumbers, bananas or raisins "- Society is eating bread, cheese and beef. Those are the infertiles.

    Your assumption is not "compelling and sensical" i..e The phallic conception of a banana or a cucumber would be indicative that they confer an high reproductive power (which is indeed a much more reasonable approach)

    Go to africa, where they are eating the bananas and they will have 20 kids any day of the week.

    And before we had prenatal care and doctors women probably had 20 or more offspring, but most of them died in infancy, or the woman died in childbirth.

    Fact is majority of fruit in stores is hybridized, many are genetically modified, and essentially all are domesticated. Supermarket fruit is what leads to baldness, poor skin in the fruitarian movement.

    The body naturally synthesizes all the EPA and DHA it needs, there is no need whatsoever for supplementation.

    Introducing a bioactive molecule in the body without any palpable evidence of an immediate need for it, just for the sake of prevention and health is sheer lunacy. DHA and EPA produce size effects and should not be taken in the amounts over those made available by it´s precursors through a good natural diet.

    EPA and DHA are fats. I doubt you have a fat deficiency.

  • @DrSeptember Superfoods and supplements can be awesome, I guess if You try them and they don't work for You then fine You speak from experience. If You haven't experimented with them though than how can people think they know what they're all about, and their are so many to try. I've seen great results with many Supps/herbs/superfoods and not so much with others and I still don't act like I know what I'm talking about because everyone reacts differently.

  • I like greens cooked but not raw. Am I getting anything from them? I don't cook them much, just wilt them a bit.

  • Most your nutrients are going into the soak water... which really contains more than the killed green itself. I'd recommend finding ways to like raw greens rather than killing aka cooking them. If you must cook them then save the soak water and drink/use it immediately like you would a broth. Most people can tolerate and learn to LOVE green smoothies... great way to get mass greens in their raw form. Goodluck!

  • Check out the work of Dr. Mercola. Eating lots of fruit is probably one of the worst things for you in the long run. It may be beneficial for a few days, but after that you are sure to run into blood sugar issues as well as nutritional deficiencies. Many fruitarians are muscle wasting as you can see Doug and Kevin are very skinny. There is not enough protein. They have many teeth issues. Check out Weston A. Prices work if you want to be super healthy. Do not be afraid to consume traditional food

  • when I make a smoothie , I put extra junks of fruit in it that I don't blend, so I eat it like a yoghurt with pieces of fruit. Otherwise it's too boring to drink that much of the same flavour and you also don't have to bother about the 'chewing' your smoothie, since you chew the junks of fruit anyway. It's also practical when your smoothie isn't tasting as nice as you thought it would be, to put some junks of apple or pear in it..
