I am of Iranian descent who actually lived in Iran for some time. there are lots of muslim PEOPLE who suffer under their parents' harsh rules. i have known quite a few, and by the time they reach puberty they turn into social misfits. the only problem that i see with deeyah is that this is causing her some existential issues. she seems like a sincere muslim, though ill-informed. most pak-afghan muslims are good enough.
