This can not be a major for the sole fact that it's not a happy sound.. It's got a more menacing sound. Minors have a more menacing sound, whereas the Majors have a more happy upbeat "yay" feelling. This is menacing.. This would be a great rave riff for sure though! :p

Try D Phrygian Dominant. It's like the D minor scale with a flatted 2nd and a Major 3rd. It's a very exotic and colorful sound choice. Sounds a bit like major and minor mode.
