Its a shame his legs aren't really strong enough yet to hit the bass drum effectively. Maybe you should try putting your bass drum mic inside of the bass drum, just by making a small hole in the resonant head

Of crouse these are all technicalities. It's doesn't diminish the awesomeness that your son was blessed with. With the right guidance, he's gonna be a legend.
