  • Great camera! Good pattern flight and landing.

  • @5StarDirector Thanks for writing and thanks for watching.

  • Not actually "controlling" Metro85. Form what I heard, the Metro traffic pilot was using the plane for personal practice, got in trouble and called the nearest tower to alert someone. So Norwood happened to get the call and I happened to be recording the frequency at the time.

  • Did you ever happen to see my "how to record your flights" video?

  • wow you do seem to be around emergencies a lot! I saw your video with the F-15 emergency too. Anyway i love your videos i have a dream of becoming a commercial pilot, but still in school and don't have money do my courses yet but maybe one day.

P.S what plane do you enjoy flying most? thanks keep them great videos coming.

  • Yes, you're right you don't hear things like this event every day. I am preparing a video about what I use to record video and audio of my flights. It will be the next video I post, sometime this weekend.

  • Wow, you dont hear that every day!, How did you get the audio to be soo good? you can hear ATC perfectly?, and also what did you use to record the video? I want to start a collection of my flights also!

  • Nicely done! Nice to see I am not the only one who says "airspeed alive" :-))

  • Great video - remarkably clear in "hd". I went to the ntsb website to get the details of the Piper pa-28 pilot in trouble and was happy to hear they were ok (plane was not so lucky). Go to ntsb website and type in 9/1/2009 as date and Ma as state and you can view the report (Youtube won't let me "cut and paste" the link here).

  • Explanation Part 2 - So the option part makes sense. The only reason I can come up with for the "taxi to parking," is that he knows the plane is a flight school plane, he had some sense of how much I'd done that day and assumed I was through. He also might have based that assumption on the time of day. In the past, I have had them assume I'm done and as a result had to request a taxi back to the active runway.

  • Explanation Part 1 - I was doing the traffic pattern and this was third in a row. I had been away from Norwood for one short hop over to Mansfield prior to that. Once I returned I taxied back to parking but then changed my mind and asked to do some pattern. So I'd been flying for a while. Since this plane is a familiar one at Norwood, we usually ask and they usually give us the option. So I asked for the option as before and when he finally had time to answer, he gave it to me.

  • there is always interesting stuff going on when you fly. also, why did he clear you for the option, then have you exit and taxi to parking?

  • What I find most interesting in this video is the time after the call from the plane in distress. I was abeam the numbers after their last transmission and needed to make a midfield call, and I can hear in my voice that I tried my best to make it tight. And in general the radio was quiet and I didn't even make the usual comments out loud to myself. I sure was my most interesting pattern to say the least!

  • Wow, that was some chilling ATC. Scary stuff. Nice landing. You should post this link on the forums. UCAP! Im sure Jack would like it. This may even bring about another rant! :)
