2- does Islam have holy orders of Monks? like the Franciscan Order? founded by St.Francis.......there must be some level like this that a devotee must accomplish before he attains the higher rank of Mullah or Imam. being a monk would be good training for such a responsible position as Imam! for a monk earns his way up the holy ladder of the religious organization, although petty rank is not the true focus, but the saving of humanity! .

We don't have Imams, we follow what is in Quran and Sunnah, we have scholars who help us understand mixed things..

I urge you to read Omar bin Al-Khttab biography, he was the second Muslim leader after the prophet, he conquered countries and had all kinds of wealths in his hands (If he wanted them) yet, he used to sleep on the ground and wear old clothes, saying that he won't fill his stomach if there's one Muslim who's hungry..

@acerb45666555 in islam any muslim can reach a higher rank, but they have to give all sins and obey all of allah's commands, to reach a high level. In islam becoming a devotee of allah is not exclusive to a certain group of people. But its not an easy thing to attain.

islam doesnt work like that, each person has his or her own contribution to an islamic community, whether a doctor engineer or an imam etc, some people believe that islam can make a 'monk like' person, but if you look to the early muslims, the decisions of the community would be made by a group of the most learned not necasserily the most spiritual, muslims work for economic, teritorial and human development, as well as spiritual, and we seek the help of the quran, sunnah and those in authority

"Dirt is my bed"....that reminds me of Saint Francis. a good holy man who gave up the aristocratic wealth he had to give his life to doing Allahs work.=feeding the poor, protecting the weak and the simple minded, giving rare love and compassion to the poor lepers. Francis slept on hard ground. in only a wool shirt. even in winter! not many are that brave.

You have forgotten me, I am a place of solitude, I am an abode of loneliness, I am a lodging of wilderness, I am a dwelling place of worms and I am much straitened provided the Almighty expands me in the case of a person whom He holds in esteem.Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The grave is either one out of the gardens of paradise or one of the pits of hell.
