My mother was born and grew up in Worcester, Ma too. I grew up right outside of the city. My 5th grade teacher knew Alisan and her father. I was in his class in '91, Curly Sue was released that year so it was kind of cool to hear that story.

I remember her in Parenthood too.

i wouldn't say she didn't have success. she's quite an accomplished singer/dancer and has been in a lot of musicals. just recently she was in the revival of a chorus line on broadway. that's a pretty big deal. just because she's not a tv celebrity making unhealthy amounts of money and you don't see her on E! doesn't mean she's not successful.

anyway, i don't really consider having your nervous breakdown plastered on every gossip magazine cover and having your children taken away a success,
