jcmoye1, thanks, and I agree about the left foot. That was 11 months ago. Been working on that. Check out a recent one - Swing Update - Iron - 17th Nov vs 12th Nov
@jcmoye1 could just be a lack of flexibility. I know I tend to roll my left foot during follow through merely because its physically impossible for it to stay put.
CONTINUED. Clemshaw, #1 most popular youtube golf teacher, is hard to miss :D. He's helped many I'm sure with his videos. So I say the following with due respect. He takes it back deep under plane in the backswing, shaft across the line at the top, and routes back on plane at impact, followed by a CP release. Sometimes it causes him to push, as in his "Power Rhythm Timing in Abu Dhabi" video, at 5:22. I prefer to take it back & come down on plane, w CF release. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
apan1979, thanks for the feedback on the +ve and -ve. You're right, footwork in that video could use some tidying up. A more recent video on the footwork is attached as a video response, titled "Footwork - Iron DTL." I can keep the right foot on the ground quite easily, The left foot will still move slightly if I'm not careful of my form, but it's getting better. I know what you mean by a PURE strike. Distance-wise, I'm getting 150m (165 yards) with 9 iron, so I'm ok for distance. CONTUNUES->
Just search for "Richmond hill golf learning centre"... There you will find an instructor by the name of Shawn Clement. He is my mentor and I've been working with him for 6 years now as his Senior Instructor at our learning centre in Toronto, Canada. There will be quite a few videos posted from us and I'm sure you'll get some insightful information that you can takeaway, and hone your skills. Golf is a game of wisdom and we've been helping many people find it across the world. I hope we can help
as i was saying... You need to create a better platform in your swing. It's like building a house, lay the foundation down and start from the ground up. Aesthetically your swing flows very well but i know for a fact that you have a lot more power in that swing of yours to offer that golf ball. There's a bit more to this story and if you're willing to learn the simple truth of striking a golf with purity and with less effort, look for our instructional videos here on youtube. CONTINUED ->
Right off the top I'm watching your swing my friend it all the moving parts look pretty good. You make a pretty good move through the ball in both swings BUT i can't help but notice your poor foot work. In my humble opinion if you watch both swings in the video (before and after) your left foot keeps spinning out. Watch again closely....
You need to try to feel more rooted in your swing and grounded. Your right foot is flying off the ground at impact.... continued ->
have you tried the deeper hands in the backswing? I believe that if you get deeper back and work the club more around the body in the downswing you would follow a circle that produces straighter and more powerful shots!
rpolancot, thanks for your comment. I do not have the Sean Foley DVD. I bought the instructor video series from Golf Digest and SF was the 1st instructor featured. Other sources include GD articles and SF's youtube videos. :) Distance was about the same, perhaps a touch less than before when I had a more aggressive right side into the release. This is perhaps because I have not pushed the new swing to the max yet or mastered its full potential.
patfrickleton, thanks for the kind comments. Yes, the first swing had a two-plane element and other issues I think you noticed. What saved it from duck hooks and tops was the right hand pushing it strongly through the release. bringing the club head back onto plane. Without this, impact would not be as good. The new swing makes impact a no-brainer because it sets up left and stays left which simplifies things noticeably.
The second swing is a vast improvement, whatever anyone is trying to argue. The first swing has mechanics that could lead to duck hooks, tops and all sorts of problems. Whereas the "Foley" swing should produce a consistent left to right shot. Sure, it isn't a 100% accurate description of what Foley teaches, but it seems that the mere mechanics Sean suggests have helped Miura.
moo690, many thanks for your observations. I agree, as I too feel that my legwork wasn't fully developed yet at the point that the video was taken; I should have been pushing my lower body more deeper and to the left. Is that what you were referring too? I am cautious not to go all the way to SnT though, as I feel it would sacrifice too much distance in my case. As it was, this video captures the effect of just some elements of SF's teachings on my swing (mainly upper pivot). Many thanks.
@Miura36328 I can see you have gained accuracy from your postings. Did you gain distance as well?t Did you use the Sean Foley DVD? or where did you get it from? Thanks in advanve for the reply.
I think you understand the shoulder, weight distribution and the rotary concept of the Foley model clearly and I think adjustments in the leg work would provide vast improvements. Please feel free to message me in regards to this. Again you seem like a very devoted golfer and I'm not a professional, so consider it with as a simple observation.
Sir, I do not mean to be rude so please take this with a grain of salt. I think it's fantastic improvements that you made with your "foley swing". For what it's worth however, it's not as simple as putting more weight on the left. I wasn't trained by Mr. Foley or am I a certified instructor so I may be very off here. But as I understand, there are substantial differences in the leg and hip motion of the foley model (very similar to the SnT swings) IMO, you haven't implemented them correctly.
About 2 days after the video was taken, I played my best round ever. The shorter the club, the more effective it worked for me. Fantastic for wedges, PW, 9 and 8 iron. For longer clubs like wood and driver, less so in my case.
What an uplifting feedback. THANK YOU!

"Golf Swing - Iron - DTL - Deep Hands"
Thanks for watching.
